I didn't know Macrumors is filled with racists, impressive.
Since when has nationality or religion been considered a race?

How are people being racist when no mention is made of race and nothing goes against a specific race?

The majority of people in the affected nations are Caucasian. Assuming the supporters of the order are doing so because of race. Is it non-caucasians being racists or are Caucasians being racists against their own race?

Fer ****s sake, can people stop conflating those who do things the legal/right way and those who don't. Suddenly we've turned into get tough on illegal immigration=Racist/bigoted person who doesn't understand we are a nation of immigrants.

This argument fell completely flat once they started detaining green card holders. Sure they walked back the practice now, but there are still reports of people getting detained who have legal status.

As usual the liberals just don't get it (or more like are pretending not to). I don't remember anyone saying all immigration's a bad thing, what people want is to know is who they're letting in. To most that would be common sense when you see what's going on in the world. There's a lot of money backing all this faux outrage and protests, ask who's funding it and why.

Someone just please explain how this wave of immigrants will make us a stronger nation?
Diversity applies to immigrants as much as it applies in Darwinism, especially in a global economy. Homogenous populations struggle to think outside of the box, are not as empathetic to others and are not as resistant to disease, cultural backlash and foreign ideas. Besides, if you look at the founders of this country, these immigrants actually have more of a right to the U.S. than native-born U.S. citizens. U.S. was founded on meritocracy, not aristocracy. So just because your father's father was born here, shouldn't give you any rights over others who were not. Otherwise what was the point of breaking away from England and their king? It wasn't to start our own England here.

Ladies and Gentlemen - EVERYONE in what is now the United States came from somewhere else. Humanity did not originate here; even the Native Americans are "immigrants" to North America. So let's please stop with the whole "native-born American" idea. Many of us were fortunate enough to be born in a particular area of land that has, over only the past 75 or so years, started to care about and protect the rights of more and more individuals. We should not conflate that luck with an absurd belief that we, as Americans, are any more exceptional than any other group of people on the planet. We've been LUCKY. While it is tempting to confuse good luck with talent or skill, it is also wrong.

If anyone believes that an arduous process that takes 18 to 24 months is not sufficient for "vetting," well, then, quite simply they are either blind or willfully ignorant on how detailed that "vetting" process is.
American has been lucky? What? America is an exceptional nation, hence why so many people want to come here.

That said! Like in Full Metal Jacket, Apple you talk the talk, do you walk the walk?
After paying taxes and stop trying to evade them opening biz in other countries, then talk.
Apple has payed all taxes they're legally required to. If you don't like tax code blame politicians not Apple.

Very productive discussion going on here....
But can I interrupt with a question...?
Does anyone have the data of how many people this will affect? How many refugees, people just wanting to move here, people coming here to work, people coming here to visit...any actual numbers?
I'm asking a legitimate question so if we could keep the responses factual and civil that would be fantastic.

Refugees are required to apply for a green card, so it's not a black and white issue.

It's easy to explain: It's becuase I'm not a bigot.
Oh and to be clear, Christians were attempting to regain control of the holy land, taken in the name of Allah by Muslins. Not defending what they did, just saying.

Are you Canadian? Sorry man. I'm not glad that they are your problem now but I'm glad they are leaving.

Sure. The letter was about immigration. I am 100% against all immigration for the next decade. Therefore, all of my posts are relevant. I have also received about 200 likes in the past hour so my sentiments are not unique to me.
Are you The Donald in disguise?? " I got 200 likes" "You're wrong" " No immigration for 10 years". Please brag a little more.

Steve Job's biological father was a Syrian Immigrant so in part you are here able to spout your garbage and your 200 likes because of that.

See Edward Said's work on Orientalism to how this furthers the othering of muslims and arabs in racist ways.

My issue(and it's appears to be most people's issue) is keeping legal residents from re-entering the country.

One of the most effective arguments the Right has made about illegal immigration, is "path to citizenship". The argument is that everyone here illegally, must go to the "back of the line", just like every legal immigrant. You can't say everyone needs to do it the right way, then penalize the LEGAL residents, who did just that.

You do understand these countries were chosen (by the Obama administration) as unable to provide any information on the background of their citizens. Other countries (like Saudi Arabia) are providing useful information that allows for some form of vetting
Forget about Obama he has gone. Lets take a look at the countries that the people who committed past acts of terrorism on American soil were from. You will not find any of them from these seven countries. Why were countries like Saudi Arabia, where 15 of the 16 911 terrorsts were from, not included. What about Pakistan a hot bed of terrorists what about Egypt where even the Egyptian Government labels the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist. While there maybe some merit in the intention, it was not thought through and the implementation was crap. Why would you handcuff a five year old child, why would you initially ban green card holders.

Fact is Trump wanted to carry through on his Muslim ban to satisfy his baying mob. He tried to find a way to make it not look like a Muslim ban but trying to link it to Obama is just so sad.

They do and unlike Trump, Apple is transparent and pays all taxes under current law.

Sure thing. Using loopholes, and paying an army of lawyers just to avoid taxes is something that is very moral. I wish everyone goes on that route, that will make everything great again.

At least we know about Apple's tax returns , unlike Emperor Trumps.........

And you think that I support Trump, just coz I critisize Apples hypocracy? Lol?

Don't argue with him. Just report him. He has been using insulting language that will get him banned.

Your avatar and signature are insulting to many people. Should you be banned? Typical Republican. You embrace freedom of speech when it's convenient for you. Hypocritical, backwards thinking as expected. Anyone who looks different, sounds different or plainly disagrees with you is the enemy and should be eradicated. That mentality has been tried before and it will provoke anger from many people in this country - expect more insults and opposition.

We are a nation made stronger by skilled immigrants who are heavily screened and are truly needed. It's not made stronger by people who willingly break the law literally the very instant that they arrive.

Please cite your proof of the incidence of immigrants breaking the law as opposed to our own citizens. Was Dylan Roof an immigrant.
I hope you are happy when the Neo-Nazis (alt right) have full control of our country.
My grandparents were immigrants. This is a nation of immigrants.
I applaud Apple and others.

I don't think you know what "racist" means.
I think he does.

But I thought that makes him a big man?! Nothing more than a typical Trump Bully spouting alt-facts and living in a alt-universe on the alt-right.

I hope Tim is paying these outsiders the same rate as us citizens. If not, trump should ban this action.

Sounds to me that if Apple refuse trump's order like star bucks...Tim should be considered as terrorist advocate.

I hate politics and mr had political articles these days.
So you think the government should be able to dictate company wages? What is this, the Soviet Union? And you think Tim Cook is a supporter of terrorists because he doesn't agree with a blanket ban (including green card holders) on people being able to come to the United States?!?

There is no coherent policy here. This is just Donald Trump and Steve Bannon playing to their narrow base of supporters that don't like anyone who doesn't look like them.

Directly insulting forum members is against the forum rules. End of story. My avatar is not insulting. You may find it "offensive" but it is not and insult.

Words matter, and the meaning of words matter.
