Too bad this couldn't happen immediately. i wonder why. February is a long time away. :(

But this is only a minor disappointment on this great day!

For this to be a good deal for pepsi there needs to be at least a decent user base for iTunes. That way pepsi sees increased sales too.

what / who is Pepsi?

Man, you need to come out of the mountains now and then. Ever heard of Coke? Yes, well Pepsi is the other brown sugar water.

So, Apple and Pepsi are giving away 100 million songs. That is one of the greatest marketing strategies ever, think, everytime you win a song you will go online and find a few, hense you will buy probably 3 or 4 songs or an album. Now assuming that only 1/3 of the winners go online and claim their song, that equals to over the 100 million songs, all paid for. This is awesome, Steve Jobs had a master plan several years ago and we are just now starting to glimpse his vision... With AOL and Pepsi Apple is hitting some prime target markets... Buy Apple stock!!!

EDIT: After reading all of the posts...Is there ANYONE here that likes Pepsi?

Hey I'm a Pepsi fan. When ever I get the chance I always choose Pepsi over Coke

I like the taste of them both, though it is rare that both are available in the same location, and when they both are I take whatever is cheaper or closer.

When I drink Coke my teeth always feels rough. I think Coke contains more acid than Pepsi. I even heard of a mechanic who used Coke for degreasing purposes :)

I also like the taste of Pepsi better, although I like the image of Coke much better than the image of Pepsi. Santa Claus versus Pepsi Pop Stars ?

I just downloaded iTunes on a PC I have laying around with Windows 2000 and it seems to be very buggy.

I saw the Windows Bar showing on top of the Apple's "hacked" steel bar, part of the iTunes store stays visible after clicking library, the Visualization did not clear the window but remanants of iTunes stayed displayed with the Visualization on top...

Its terrible!! I HOPE APPLE FIXES THIS SOON as this is the image Windows users will get about Apple. Better yet, I hope it is my stupid computer that is faulty!

Viva la MAC !!!

This sounds like your video driver has problems, or potentially your overall Windows installation.

I have seen no drawing problems whatsoever on my Win2k box.

BTW, the "hacked" steel bar is done through a standard API in Windows. If it's not working on your box that is a sure-fire indication that your Windows installation has internal problems.

Try running MusicMatch, WinAmp, or any other non-standard controls app and you should see the same effects.

Next thing you know, we're going to see commercials with some stoned teenager on a white background telling people about how she switched from Coke to Pepsi.

More of a Coke man myself but I'm really excited to try the new Pepsi G5.

More likely, make sure you have all 4 Win2K service patches installed.

I prefer Coke too, but I'll buy Pepsi while it goes on.
It's very few campaigns, that can change the way I buy products, but this will do it.

everyone keeps saying that this is a great marketing coup for apple and then mentions how they'll stop drinking coke and buy pepsi instead. sounds more like a great marketing coup for pepsi (with obvious side benefits for apple). i guess maybe these forums aren't the most unbiased sample statistically...but still.

if i remember my high school chemistry correctly, coke has a pH value of around 3...which makes it only 1000 times less acidic than hydrochloric acid. cleaning engine parts should be a snap...

Maybe Apple should give away a coupon for a free bottle of Pepsi with every n'th iTunes download. Let's see, they don't want to have to mail you the coupon, so they'd give you a PDF file. But they'd have to use DRM on the coupon so you could only redeem it once. Hmmm, I guess I'll have to think about this a bit more before I make a pitch to Apple and Pepsi. :)

By the way, in my taste bud ranking, Dr Pepper > Coke > Pepsi > Diet Dr Pepper > Diet Pepsi > Diet Coke.

wow I too prefer coke to pepsi, but like mountain dew. I never realised there was such a deomographic of people like that.

Great work apple/pepsi. I think apple would GIVE away a free song (with no pepsi help) just to introduce a pc user to the store. Now they're giving them a free song, with all the promotional help of pepsi!

I'm so excited about this I think I'll have to move to america AND switch to pepsi just to take advantage of it :p

Pepsi is a brand of soft drink that competes with Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola itself would stick to the engine parts and make them quite sticky, which would be a bad thing.

It starts when insiders "knew" Oct 1, 2003 it was definite.

Lets start throwing Pepsi/iTunes parties...yuk!

All froth and bubble...I think the whole thing will go flat. If you all can put aside your refound thirst for market improvement, if not world domination, you'll realise that Apple/Pepsi is a bad combination that will ultimately leave a very bad taste in the mouth.

Both companies are 'also rans', both way behind the way the world chooses to go in computers and cola drinks.

No wonder AAPL is down...Why didn't Apple allign their promotion with a winner????

An 'Apple' a day won't help whilst you're all gulping down Pepsi.

I'm surprised, and very relieved, that SJ didn't sign a deal with some tobacco company/s ... still to come, I suppose ... maybe then a breath freshener company.

This is an unhealthy move by Apple ... YUK YUK YUK

Hmm, seems i'm one of the few that likes Pepsi. This is good because my Grandpa buys about 10 to 20 2 Liter bottles of coke a week because he has a lot of company, and because I mainly buy Mountain Dew, but Moutain Dew won't be on the promotional so i'll just start buying Pepsi.

I dunno this doesn't really seem fair...

I'll pick Diet Pepsi over Diet Coke when it's available, so it's great for me. I see myself buying Diet Pepsi by the case...
