Sadly, some people only know how to hate. And feel better about themselves when that hate is expressed.
It has nothing to do with hate for me. I will honor his message but not the man himself. I do not honor thieves or cheaters.

Yeah. it did become more immoral (you know, ethically and morally bankrupt Orangina is in charge), doesn't mean it was moral or ethical before of course (no sir, never has been really though the government did try in fits and bounds)

So, you just did some good old straw man and false equivalence here hey.

Bush is the one who destroyed the Middle East (and the economy); Obama got stuck with the ball afterward and then lost the House and Senate and could only issue rules and regulations to change things thereafter. Could he have done much better, sure he could; he was too milketoast with congress in the first 2 years when he could have done something (though the global economic meltdown that was going on in 2009 sure put a crimp in his plans).

Getting into any war is easy, it's getting out that's hard (that's a message for mr twit prone Halloween boy with the twitchy fingers in charge now .

hey, no. Did you forget how Obama doubled down on the war in Afghanistan? Or about Libya, "We came, we saw, he died, haha"?

All the Presidents are/have been bad on wars. Sorry if that isn't binary enough for you, but MLK was also very anti war from an nonpartisan perspective.

Great job Tim just keep on using race/gender ambiguous actors in your commercials. I'd love to see the memo requesting that.

The founding fathers are not a good example of comparison to MLK good deeds/faults scenario. MLK cheated on his wife and plagerized speeches. He didn’t advocate for equal racial treatment while being a member of a supremacist organization.

The founding fathers (some of them) advocated for freedom while PERSONALLY denying it to others. See the difference?

There is a difference. But maybe lying, false representation, and adultery should be considered worse faults than they are. Considering the later a master didn’t make promises of fidelity to his slave like a man does his wife.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Well said brother

It's not about casting stones. It's about REV King, not Dr. King, plagiarizing someone else's work, passing it off as his own and getting a Doctorial degree that he did not earn nor deserve. Period.

Next thing you’ll say is that he wasn’t a real King, right ?

FYI: he earned a doctorate in systematic theology from Boston University in 1955.

‘Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity’

DR. LMK

Respect.

It probably worth noting that in my own impromptu survey of the front pages of websites from other major tech outfits - Microsoft, Adobe, Salesforce, Oracle, Facebook, Dell, and so on - Apple is the only company to put all of its products aside for a day on it's front page and pay tribute to this man and what he stood for. This is a reason why I think Apple connects with people; not just as a company that provides various successful products, but for it's values as well. Other companies are apparently satisfied with connecting with people's wallets only and that's fine, it seems most of them are successful in doing so. But at least one company thought it worthwhile to put aside it's usual business on it's website for a day and pay tribute to an acknowledged civl rights leader which, especially these days, I think is particularly poignant. None of it's contemporaries could be bothered.

Beautiful words VanNess. Thank you

King was nothing more than a plagairist and a thief.

"Regarding his PhD dissertation, an academic inquiry concluded in October 1991 that portions of his dissertation had been plagiarized and that he had acted improperly."

Nice bit of racist projection. I guess white people don't commit crime at all, and I suppose ALL music by WHITE people is awesome as well....

Lol. They were referring to the RATE of black crime.

Also, YOU are the one inferring that all rap music is produced by blacks which is definitely not the case.

While you site the correct page in Wikipedia - you failed to note that his issues were around his lack of citations and footnotes. It should also be noted that he has retained his doctoral degree (not revoked) as it would serve no purpose and his dissertation still had academic merit .

Let's not disparage MLK, Rev. or Dr. - He stood for peace, unity and civil rights. What the heck does his PhD dissertation have to do with Tim Cook and Apple honoring him and his sacrifice?

MacRumors once again proving that you cant post an article with a picture of a black person without the discussion having to turn into racist nonsense or an entire dialogue about the person's skin color, rap music, etc. Seriously the racism in the comments is so blatant. This site continually disappoints me on a daily basis. Either get it under control, or i'm assuming not only I, but others will probably stop visiting the site for apple news unfortunately.

MLK is a great man, his family not so much. You know how much companies has to pay to be associated or license any of the MLK images in any partnerships?

Chatte slavery is a stain on human history. The abhorrent physical abuse endured by a human at the hands of another (who incidentally also believes in his own right not to be oppressed) is beyond any other interpersonal discretions.

Comparing it as great as infidelity or lying is just plain ridiculous.

I really do fail to understand why anyone could criticise a company or person of celebrity that uses their voice to champion and celebrate equality.
Let me help you understand the critics. To them, equality is not real, nor is it feasible.

Good for them. Do you think if they didn’t we would not see businesses using his likeness in anyway they see fit for profit?

Apple forgot to trademark Steve Jobs..... guess what happened?

So apparently it’s “right” to confuse young children of their gender, teach that gender is fluid, let males in female sports and locker rooms, denie children the right to know their mother or father. Please Tim. You wouldn’t know right from wrong if it hit you in the face.

None of this is about hate. People are referencing that a man who would be adamantly opposed to SJW identity politics being propped up by a SJW identity politic figure would not fly.

Martin Luther King had a great dream.

Tim Cook has a nightmare.
MLK would've been called an "sjw" (meaningless buzzword) by the right-wingers of today.

When did Tim Cook say anything about those things? Stop watching Fox News.

Doubled down? Ever hear the phrase "you break it, you buy it?" We broke Afghanistan and could not simply abandon it. And Libya had no US troops, we provided aerial tanker support for NATO airstrikes, mainly from the French.

Obama's polices, mainly drone strikes, managed to kill over 4,000 terrorists (CIA estimates), without involving us in a new major ground war.

Afghanistan is still broke and will break worse once we cut our losses and leave. You know this play was run many times before, you might have heard about the Soviets having a go?
US troops were on the ground in Libya and now they have a thriving slave trade. Obama or Bush or Trump don’t rain unicorns and rainbows from bombers and drones, just death and suffering. It’s not a partisan issue.

I feel sorry 4 u

Yeah #me2
Ok I'll play this game. Please point out where in any of my posts did I say anything racist or homophobic? King IS a plagiarist and a thief and that is WELL DOCUMENTED. I honor his message but I will not honor the man.
