Totally agree. It's limited for sure. ...and things like that DO happen. I had something like that happen this past weekend for example. And what happens if your adapter isn't around? ouch.

Then you should be fired from your job if you can't manage such a trivial event.

I was very surprised that it came with 8GB of RAM.

I was less surprised, but happy with the storage size.
Its targetted towards iPhone crowd who will buy it in an instant. This is more practical than an iPad.

Oh I see, there's a fancy USB-C split adaptor so you can charge while using a USB device. For a mere $80 of course.

Meh. I guess there's an audience for this. As long as they don't get rid of their MacBook Pro line...

This computer is a waste of people's hard earned money.
Why doesn't Apple just call it what it is - an ipad with a keyboard.
1 port, no headphone jack, 12 inch screen, weak processor, $1300 base.
Spray paint a computer gold and call it "revolutionary"
That's messed up.
I can't believe so many people upvoted this stupid comment. The new MacBook is nothing but revolutionary. The first fanless laptop is a game changer. I am already looking down on all the others, as if they still had optical drives.

Shocked that there is no fingerprint sensor. Mostly like this device, but will wait to see what the iPad Pro thing is all about. It is easier for me to get around on osx than on iOS, but we will see.
Yeah I don't get that either. I thought passwords would finally be a thing of the past for Apple users. Would also be great for online payments where the Apple Pay thing doesn't work.

Sadly, it won't. It'll sell like crazy because of the colors and design (Yes, I'm serious)

For sure will sell tons.
I love the concept, space grey color, design and size but it is too underpowered for my needs doing ocasional Photoshop work on the road. I wished it had one more port and losing magsafe is a step backwards IMO.
I will stick with the new rMBP 13.

What? The base model that has a 1.4GHz weaker CPU that costs $200 MORE than my Mac mini with the same storage and RAM? WTF!

May be going the Hackintosh route.

But does your Mac mini have 10 hours battery and weight 2lbs with the screen?

Why would you get this when the MacBook Air and Pro exist?

For the same price you get:
Better camera 720p vs 480p
Better connectivity
Larger Screen
Better CPU
Better Graphics
Longer battery life

It just doesn't make sense...

:apple:

No support for Thunderbolt no deal. But realistically this was never meant for me.

The new MacBook looks amazing, but Im a little dissapointed with the price. I was hoping apple would use this as an opportunity to create a entry level mac and make it more accessible to more people by pricing it at a more affordable price. I think that would be a way for apple to make a real difference, bring the mac to the masses. Appart from that, the new MacBook is not a device im interested in right now.

lets stop complaining. Look previously samsung fan boys complain about iPhone battery and memory card cannot be change/upgrade. But now their new S6 and Edge is following the iPhone.

Soon everyone will be following this new MacBook with only 1 USB-c connector

there's no point banging table if you don't like the design, as there will be many people who still love it

Meh... seriously, what am I supposed to do daisy chain 3 $79 adapters to connect multiple displays?

Waiting for the 14" Retina MBA.... with two mini-display ports and 2 USB-C ports....

You'd connect it to the docking station that will inevitably become available because this is standard usb-c. Still, you won't be running more than one display off this if you want 4k.

I thought when they showed the bubble at the start of the introduction video that it would be edge to edge screen with no (little) bezel.

Because portability has value too.

May I offer you some more kool-aid? Asus had fanless notebooks way before this.

A bit under powered cpu wise...

I believe the processor in this new Macbook is the Intel Core M-5Y70. Yes... benchmark tests for the Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 using that processor were a little disappointing.

But I wonder how this new Macbook actually is in day-to-day use.

The fast PCIe storage will probably make it "feel" fast. Plus... Apple designed this laptop from the ground up to work with their OS. My guess is it will be fine for its intended audience.

If the regular Macbook Air is an ultraportable... This new Macbook should be considered an ultra-ultra-portable.

Translation... it's not a speed demon nor was it designed to be. Its focus is on weight 1st and battery life 2nd... not raw horsepower.

Apple still makes the regular Macbook Air and the Retina Macbook Pro... and both were updated today with current 5th-gen Intel chips. This new Macbook isn't replacing those.

Should you buy this new Macbook for Photoshop and editing 4K video? Probably not. But you wouldn't buy any laptop with this hardware for those tasks either.

Except it runs osx vs ios
It has 8 gig vs 2 gig of ram
It has 256 to. 512 ssd vs 128
It has a 12 inch screen vs 9.7

Anyone who is amazed by this is clearly drinking the kool-aid. (and I love most Apple products)

Let's review:
- a single port for all purposes

Say you're at an airport, and your battery is nearly dead. A client wants you to email them some large files that are on a USB thumb drive in your pocket, and they need it fast. Now you have to plug it in and charge it, waiting to get up to maybe 10-15%, and then unplug the charger and plug in the USB drive.

This is just silliness. I hope this model flops.

I hope I'm never a client of yours. I'd be a bit nervous that some large, important files are on a thumb drive, stuck in your pocket.

Omg what is this? Is this supposed to be some sort of joke?

Only one USB-C port? ...
No fan? What the heck. Say goodbye to running any games methinks.
SD Card? Nope, I didn't need it anyways, right? (Correct me if I'm wrong on this one)
Okay, now the battery life... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? You don't downgrade battery life just to make the device thinner.

Okay, say goodbye to haptic feedback.

You guys, don't even quote me. To each his own.
I won't be buying it obviously.

OMG what is this post? Some sort of joke?

It's not the first fabless laptop just the first one made by Apple. I don't get what is so revolutionary about this product? Perhaps you can enlighten all the stupid people. I like the new colours and I'll probably buy it just to get a black MacBook again as I hate silver but the design doesn't look that radically different.

I got excited when I read 'all day battery' - but 9 hours will cut it awfully close for me when I am at a conference with 12 hour plus workdays. I would have preferred 12 or more, particularly with this processor. Maybe I have to look elsewhere, as I definitely can not take the poor quality Macbook Air display any longer.
