1299+ USB adapter + hdmi adapter or Apple TV + display port adapter. Hmmm thing is starting to look like a great deal.

Looks amazing. I'm glad they used the "MacBook" name once again.
Different colors!!!
Not sure I like the one USB port much.
For the price I think I'd just get the 13" rMBP if I was buying right now.
Also Apple's laptop lineup seems to be getting a little convoluted.. 11" Air, 12" MacBook, 13" Air, 13" Pro, 13" retina Pro....

Wow

Better than imagined, insane design, no moving parts, not-needing-to-bring-the-plug battery life, perfectly silent, incredibly thin, incredibly light, good RAM and SSD, more than adequate CPU (for my use), this is simply my dream notebook.

The processors are a little slow but that was always going to be the case with the design.

I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Is it just me, or does $1300 seem like a lot for a slow notebook with almost no connectivity? The Core M has has proven to be a dog in other computers, so I wouldn't expect much here either.

So with USB-C you have to choose Ethernet, vga, mouse, etc or does it connect to some type of dock/brick with more connections. I guess no dual monitors with this.

Don't worry Apple USB C to USB, HDMI etc. will be super inexpensive.:p:apple:

I was all excited. Then I saw the price and poor battery life. I was hoping 12 hours given the 5 watts and 67% reduced logic board.

$999 entry level would've been nice even if it only had 128GB SSD.

Not interested, I still like my 2013 11" i7/8gb/512gb MBA just as much as I did yesterday. Looking forward to some performance benchmarks on the new machine though.

It may be slower than other notebooks, but that's the tradeoff you make for the insanely small size. As for connectivity, I can't think of anything it won't connect to.

The best for retina on screen resolution is going to be awful. 720p? The Imessage window they showed took up almost the entire screen. So one will have to run in a scaled mode most likely.

It's not underpowered. It's just less powerful than larger laptops.

Hence, underpowered... If you need a less powerful portable solution get an iPad. This is supposed to be a computer on which you'll run real application on.

What? The base model that has a 1.4GHz weaker CPU that costs $200 MORE than my Mac mini with the same storage and RAM? WTF!

May be going the Hackintosh route.

That's next years model when they stop making the Air.

I'm confused. If this isn't replacing the MacBook Air and it's THINNER than the Air, then doesn't the Air kind of lose its meaning?
The Air has:
  • longer battery life
  • usb ports
  • thunderbolt
  • sd card
  • magsafe! ( I cannot believe they expect people to go back to cord tripping )
  • cheaper
  • larger screen

RIP Magsafe

I feel bad about this (MagSafe), it was one of my favorite practical features.

Does anyone actually know how USB-C will connnect to this? Have you held it or used it? Who's to say it won't be magnetic on this one and pull out just as easily when someone encounters it? Lots of conjecture.

Did they announce the price for the updated macbook air?

Core M sucks!
Why get something that performs worse then a Haswell macbook air????!!
