hello everyone. I just bought an Iphone last week, and now I see this announcement of a 16 gig iphone. Should I pay the extra 100 to get the 16 gig model? Or should I wait for a 3g version to come out later in the year? Thanks

Wait, this means that my 3g 10gig ipod with light-up-red buttons and a dead battery is now obsolete?? Dangit Apple, stop releasing new products! If you never released new products my ipod would never be obsolete!

Ok now we have gone to 32GB now you can start selling 16's in the refurb store. I'm cheap. I will admit that but hey, my iBook G4 is 2yrs old this month from there and I have not had nary a problem.

I would say wait since you already have one, the only difference currently is space - whereas waiting for 3G might also bring another size increase

I still use my 3g 15GB iPod almost daily...gotta love the touch controls on it

of course... the rumors were true.... and immediately... looks like apple shaping up again after the air incident... but why not 32gb phones?

More memory to the Touch means they can market the Touch as a media device, and the iPhone as a phone.

I see the Touch as an iPhone that doesn't make calls lol.

That said, I have a 16GB Touch and will get a 16GB iPhone (use iPod as well, an iPod and only use that bit of the iPhone if I'm out with it or my iPod is charging.

There is no pleasing some people. We have people unhappy with the $499 16GB iPhone price with no 8GB discount, but just a few months ago, Apple got hammered for a $200 price drop!

They drop the price, they lose. They keep the price the same, they lose. This is likely why Apple doesn't "listen."

You can still use your iPod, it's not exactly obsolete... god, people love using that word!

The reason they introduced this iPhone now is becuase the SDK is coming and they need room on the iPhone, which def sucks for anyone with a 4gb iphone or even 8gb which i have. :-(

It's not like you will be installing Photoshop on the phone, most applications I have installed on my phone are ~300 Kb. Which is nothing, granted with the SDK they might grow bigger but i'm expecting them to be around 1 Mb or for very big applications 10 Mb at most.

Don't understand what's the point with wifi. Maybe it's for free in U.S.??
In Europe you have to pay as for normal mobile phones.

I live in Europe and when I'm out in town it takes me no longer that 5 minutes to find a free open WIFI network on my iPhone.

499? Ugh. Why not keep the same price with better features?

I am wondering if the price drop will come eventually when they run out of the 8GB iPod Touch and iPhone. May be they don't want to price them lower than what they are right now but they may not be making them anymore.

Nice. But I think I'll wait to update until the expected iPhone 2.0 comes out sometime later this year. Then I'll hand my 8gb iPhone down to my kids and trade up.

yah, good strategy. i'm getting the current iphone in 9 days (tmobile contract runs out) and then my wife has agreed to take that when iphone 2 comes out and i can have that. seriously, best wife ever!! :D:apple::D

wow... I literally JUST bought the 8GB version last night at the apple store.... I can't believe no one said anything. I even checked macrumors yesterday to see if there were any leaks on the 16GB version. Wow, I'm kind of upset.

With this new update I highly doubt the iPhone 2.0 will be released anytime soon. 3G would be nice, but we don't live in Japan and have access to 2-way video conferencing and other really cool features. So it is kind of waste until the phone companies stop with the nickel and dime routine over services and contracts.

I think it is time for me to pull the trigger and buy an iPhone. I've waited long enough. Where is my credit card...

Practically every other Apple product that gets updated keeps the same price point or is cheaper. By breaking that trend I would expect to see people complain.

So take it back

Any UK prices yet? I keep refreshin the apple site but on the store page doesn't give me any option for the 16gb version, even if on the home page is available

I have every reason to be bitter. I just got my wife and I, each an iPhone, last weekend! Bitter.....

If you bought the phones last weekend, you should be able to take them back to the Apple Store and get the new 16GB models. I think you have 10 or 14 days to return or something like that.

I'm still quite happy with my 8GB iPhone and won't upgrade until 3G comes along, but it will be nice to have at least 16GB (and maybe even 32GB) for that 3G iPhone when it does ship. :)
