Modbook isn't vaporware.
Has anyone actually received one of those yet, because I all I have heard is delay after delay.
why should anyone convert anything into american dollars as if that's the only currency that can be understood?
this is an international forum, not a US forum. this reminds me of the forum member who posted that he was sick of reading about o2 in relation to the iphone and that the iphone forum should be restricted to US users.
i don't need to know what £499 is equal to in any other currency; i spend pounds every day along with many many other forum members.
are you seriously suggesting that all currencies mentioned should be converted into other currencies so that MOST readers will understand? perhaps we should poll the top 10 currencies used by forum members and insist that all posts mentioning money are converted into each of the currencies.
"Don't do tomorrow what you can do today" when the iphone 2 comes out you'll be expecting iphone 3, and your never be happy. Just buy things as you need them, and then when what you have does not suit your needs go for another one. If you always try to be up to date and have everything that's out, you'll go crazy, and broke. I know people expect 3G, but then Apple will limit some of its functionalities to make another iPhone, its never made at perfection, they always design something with a flaw that can be updated, to keep making profits. Real world...its all about the money, don't ever expect anything perfect to come out of nobody.
International forum or not Apple is still an American company. If it were a British company we would be talking about converting from the British Pound. But because the company is from the good ol US of A we will always be talking about converting from the US dollar.
You _must_ be kidding!? So if we're talking Bang & Olufsen, all you bastards (in a lovingly way) will have to convert to and from danish kroner? Or what about Sony, iRiver and what have you? If you're willing to do that, and show me where you already have been discussing products from those companies using the local currency only, you may have an argument. Otherwise, it's as stupid as it sounds.

Does anyone know how thick these things are?
I was actually wondering that to. Because the difference in thickness between the 80gb and 160gb iPod classic is noticeable. I'm wondering if this 32gb iPod touch is thicker in physical size.
Was wondering the same thing...my assumption is they're all the same (8GB vs. 16GB iPhone, 16GB vs. 32GB iPod) seeing as the only reason the HDD based iPods had a thickness difference was because of the capacity limitation of single-platter drives. I assume flash memory doesnt have to worry about this because they're small chips lined up instead of stacked, so I'm going to continue assuming they're all the same thickness.
Again, all assumptions and I purposely used the word assume multiple times to avoid people from taking my post as an arrogant spewing of falsities if I'm incorrect.
I like to cover my rear.
So the best ipod can still not hold as much as my ancient 40GB 3G iPod...
and looking on the brighter side -
at least 64GB is the next upgrade!!!! time to set some cash aside!!!
any news on the screens? are they still the less clear versions?
not the iPhone screens?

Ya, the 32gb models were available immediately, I wish someone would post a pic of theirs.![]()
Who said the iPod touch was the best? It's incredibly poor on the move for instance (unless you don't mind whipping it out every so often to change tracks or otherwise adjust things) as it's lost its scrollwheel navigation, plus the hard disk mode and a bunch of capacity... if I wasn't such a whore for new tech, I'd be rocking a classic, not an iPtouch (cheaper with ten times the HD space!)
This sucks. I give up, going to get a pc today
I use the touch more as a PDA than an iPod with a touch screen. Come on, if you just wanted an iPod with a clickwheel then maybe you SHOULD have gotten the Classic instead of calling the iPod touch "Incredibly Poor". The iPod touch HAS it's own user-base that bought it as not JUST an iPod but as a powerful tool.
Only if there were no other prices, Olternaut.
The thing is, your argument is based solely that the company is a US-based one, utterly ignoring that said company sells their products world wide. If you have a hard time fathoming the concept of foreign currency, you can use the widget or look it up.
As I said, with your argument, we should always use danish currency to discuss Bang & Olufsen. You must be able to see how ridiculous your argument is in that context?
That's all very nice, but I don't know why you're picking an argument I never started. It's worse to control on the move than a regular iPod, yes or no? Yes.
I am well aware of all the other non-iPod things that it does very well, they were contributing factors to why I bought it. Still have to rock a 2nd gen nano at times when the touch doesn't cut it, though.
My iPod touch is very easy to control. I listen to it mostly in the car and I have a Griffin Auto-Pilot AUX that lets me skip, pause and play... it also charges the iPod touch AND you control the volume with the CD player. Works quite well.
What was the original argument again? It doesn't matter anyway now does it? Apple will do what Apple will do and I don't think anyone will be able to change that.
