SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!

There will always be updates. Things will be bigger (or smaller) better, cheaper, newer, faster than what you have right now. Have you all been asleep or dead? Enjoy what you have and what you are using and then upgrade when you feel that yours is obsolete or you have a few extra bucks.

What's next? 36 and 72 gig models?

It's extremely unlikely that there would ever be a 36 gig model. 32 gigs, on the other hand, is almost inevitable.

Similarly, you probably will never see a 72 gig model. However, you may see a 64 gig model, or they may skip right up to 128 gigs.

So much for the magic touch

NASDAQ would be up today, if not for AAPL, which is tanking big time again. Guess fund managers aren't impressed with yesterday's news. Wow, what a surprise!

Where is my MBP?

Then Apple will never see any of my money for an Ipod. I'm a devout Mac user, but I've never owned an iPod as I've been waiting years for at least a 250GB model -- something I had hoped would be coming soon, what with the 160gb model having been out for some time. I have 3,500 CDs and am still waiting for the promise of "all your music in your pocket" and I won't go any lower than 128kbps AAC or 192kbps MP3.

I know a lot of people with 2-3 times the collection I have who also have yet to buy an mp3 player. I know the rabid obsessed record collector is a niche market, but I'd bet it's larger than some people realize. So, I truly hope you are mistaken, as I really would like to experience having all my music available everywhere I go.

Sorry, your loss. I am an audio file too with maybe 10,000 LPs and 8,000 CDs or more. I have a 160GB iPod with about 32,000 songs which I take everywhere. Yes I would be a fan of even a larger HD but I can hear great music anywhere NOW! WOn't do me any good once I am dead!

I'll get one a few years down the road where 128GB will probably be mainstream and I won't have to pay a fortune for it. For now I'm fine with my 80GB Classic. ;)

Ya...I thought it was based on AIM?

It can also connect to servers using the Jabber protocol (popularized by the Google Talk application).

And plug-ins for Jabber servers exist (called Gateways or Transports) that allow their users connectivity with other IM protocols such as ICQ, Yahoo!, or MSN.

Will it support video chat over MSN with iChat? MSN for Mac doesn't.

No, but the next Microsoft:Messenger will and should be out in the coming few months. Check out the MacBU blog.

Nice. I remember Mickeysoft saying at some point that Messenger:Mac 6 was the last version they'd ever make, and that they would provide no support for OSX going forward.

Then again, I also remember them saying VISTA was the best operating system they'd ever made. Ah well.

What!?

In the immortal words of The Zoogor: "Boo hoo for you"... Mr. First-poster, newbie, crybaby, BS Artist who's all negative just to stir the pot. Master Troll, begone.

Whenever I see some long involved crap from a newbie, I always check to see just many posts they've made. Generally its either their first (troll) or they've made four or five and they're all the same Anti-Apple-sucks-and-my-moneys-going-to-PC-folks crybaby bullstuff. It is sooooo lame and overdone on this forum.

Are you serious? Now we're all laughing at you! Did you actually read my post?

Super Pissed

I bought my iphone right after macworld thinking i was ok until three g came out and now just after the 2 week deal is up they realease a larger size??? I am super pissed, i bought mine from att, you guys dont think apple will do a swap would they?:mad:

They wouldnt SWAP... cuz the 16gb is $100 more. But if you are within their return period, go for it.

The price didn't change on the 8gb... and theres still no 3G.

Yeppers. Read it. The usual "The Sky is Falling" routine. First post out of the gate and it's tainted with how you've got screwed. It's the Newbie Troll 101's first lesson. Fortunately for the rest of us, Macrumors lets the board check for other posts to see everyone's activity. You were batting negative 1000 first time at bat.

Laugh all ya want, chief.

OMFG!!! I just bought a 16GB last night after 2 months of waiting and reconsidering because of the small size!!!! OMFG I'm so pissed. I don't know what to do.... is it worth $500???? that's kind of ridiculous now that i think about it....

this just came out of nowhere!!!

advice?

ROFL!! Reading posts like these amuses me so. :D
This is what happens when you don't keep up with the tech news and analysis of such.

It always amazes whent the rumor sites are so confident in something and it doesn't show up. And then something huge like this happens without so much as a whisper. Where was the Apple intel this time?

I lose faith in the mac rumor community's ability to keep us one step ahead of Apple's home page.

The intel was there and was credible. Everyone knew there would be a memory capacity upgrade for the iphone and ipod touch to its now 16GB and 32GB sizes. We all thought that they would annouce this at least at macworld if not the 3G solution. But they didn't.
At the very least though they had to come out with this soon early in the year so it wouldn't be too close to the 3G version's debut. If I were them I would have announced the new 16GB iphone and 32GB ipod touch at macworld and just said the availability would be in a couple weeks which it was. That way the macworld announcements would have been slightly hotter than they were.
Dunno why they announced it sorta like a whisper instead of showing off big time. Whatever. The updates are here and its close to around when we expected it to.
3G now should probably hit near the end of the year. Maybe WWDC but we will see. I don't expect to hear of 3G at the SDK announcement which by the way I'm guessing will be around Feb. 11th at near the same time as the World Mobile Congress event.

Wow, even at 5 min per CD to rip/convert that is about 300 hours. And I was having trouble finding the time to rip my 350 CDs!

THIS JUST IN:

"Apple lowers price of all three iPod touch's by one hundred US dollars - gives fifty dollar rebate to early adopters."

Seriously?

If they did indeed do that, I'd go out and buy myself an iPod Touch tomorrow morning.

That's all I was getting at. The articles should be saying that 28% of all smartphones sold last quarter were iPhones, not that the iPhone has a 28% marketshare for last quarter. I know, it's a nitpick, but it's always bugged me.
It has always bugged you that you don't understand the word marketshare? That's what it means 28% of units sold per period of time. What you are confusing it with is installed base.

Don't worry though. Most people do.

Wake up, people -- you don't have to carry everything with you all the time. Just spend a day or tow rating your library and carry only the stuff you really enjoy listening to. Duh!

A 32GB iTouch would be perfect for me, if it was $299. I hope the price comes down to this level by Xmas 2008 when Steve finally realizes he can sell twice as many of them than he can at the current price point.

Yes I do want to carry everything. Any problem with that? BTW: i am very well awake.

And you are you. 32GB? Pleasssssseeeeee.... Apple is happy you exist and they know you will buy an Apple branded _________ (fill the blank) if they come out with one.

Just what is the "lot of stuff in fact" you refer to?

Well lets see.....
The mac touch for one does in fact exist but didn't make it in because it was not ready. The macbook air was not supposed to debut alone....the other macbooks...the small one and the pro was going to make their appearance at macworld too.....but they weren't ready. And I'm sure there are others as well. WWDC should be interesting this year.
