C'mon.. $200, $300 for a book?! At least give us a limited edition Jet Black 8GB iPod Nano with the purchase.

But having read the press release, I'm not entirely certain if this book contains anything other than photographs (not necessarily a bad thing, would just like to know)…

Apple has lost its mind yet again with these prices!
If you can't sell 1,000,000 laptops, sell 10,000,000 books.
They could do what they're doing to their computers -- make it even thinner by taking three-quarters of the content out. Heck, why have content at all? Why not just covers with nothing inside?

Hope you realise that design and art books - often expensively printed by necessity of their subject matter - fetch high prices.
From the description of this book's format, it sounds like the print is not 'run of the mill'.
I actually think that was one of the best decision they made. I have a USB hub on my desk and just charge them once a month when I leave for the day. 1 charge last me 8 hours a day for a month!
If you have to work around it it is not good design.
For the first time in ages I really started to think I'd buy another Apple product. Then I saw the price.

Wow. They took all the Apple.com product photos and put them in a book. That's worth $300!
Also....isn't this a bit backwards looking for Apple? Not to mention they made a physical book!!! I thought iPad and iBooks was the future and present?

“Designed by Apple in California” is available in two sizes and printed on specially milled, custom-dyed paper with gilded matte silver edges, using eight color separations and low-ghost ink. This linen-bound, hardcover volume was developed over an eight-year period. It is published by Apple.
This seems like some kind of signal of Ive's much desired retirement.
You have to be completely mental if you actually believe the people behind these books have anything to do with shipment and production of their hardware...

Or even the Apple Watch, which is surely one of the least stylish watches ever made. It's a chubby, flabby rectangle, devoid of any distinguishing features. I have a relative who is a collector of high end watches - needless to say he finds the Apple watch both amusing and distasteful.
Apple design isn't what it used to be, sadly. I guess there's only so far you can take the rounded rectangle.
