Other than the whole argument over ports....how is this macbook any less of an experience than other macbooks? Its faster, thinner, lighter, still runs Mac OS.......

You don't see the ports issue as being a poor experience, so you will defend the release based upon the new Macbook pro being thinner.....lighter.....runs Mac OS.....etc.

Poor experience is not being able to plug in your brand new iPhone 7 because you can't without an adapter.
No SD card slot for creators because you need an adapter.
No USB ports because you need an adapter.
And all for hundreds more.

Things no longer just work. In order to experience more, you now need to purchase and carry around adapters, dongles, cables, etc...

Its become all about numbers under Tim Cook. And not enough about the experience. I love apple. I really do. I truly hope they can get themselves back on the right track.

A really cool limited addition book is the aluminum billet book made for Larry Ellison about the build of his Kirkham Cobra.

The book is $4500. but considering the amount of machining that went into making the cover, the price isn't as outrageous as it might seem. But, the whole book is online to enjoy for free. Apple should do the same.

Most car guys probably are aware of this book, here's the link if you're interested. Chapter 22 is about the book.

Wauw, sounds cool. I really like the first photos. But I do wonder if they're gonna add these marvels:

:p
you know..there are some questionable designs by Apple that some people dislike and other defend..and that's fine.
BUT these 3 examples are genuine DISASTERS and NO ONE can defend them in this world.
they are just goofy foolish designs that are embarrassing.
the 1st one is the winner for sure.

As a designer the video of the inside of the studio and the reverence that Ive plays to the culture, idea generation etc. really impresses (gullible on my part or not). but has a few have eluded to the ego and increasing control seems nauseating as well as strong nepotism with the Marc Newson hire, who is a brilliant designer but self-indulgent ******. Would like a bit more secrecy and a lot more added value - whilst the new MacBooks are expensive, an additional dongle, more default iCloud storage would be a small but consumer driven feature that would fluff that waning loyalty to the brand

Not worth the price. If you are looking for inspirational layout look elsewhere. If you are looking for content you've already seen it. Very mediocre piece, I was expecting a lot more from the design and layout. Even paper and print mediums are usual stuff.

Look I think they rushed to release the "AppleBook" so that their new Touch Macbook Pro 2016 would not be in it ever recorded as the biggest dongle joke…

I am starting to believe that Apple's executives are so rich they do not understand the real value of the dollar. They think $200 book is like a $24 book for you and me.

Their dongles are probably like $1 each, they don't understand why people are upset by their prices.

That's like saying the Mona Lisa should not go for more than the cost of the canvas and ink. You are forgetting the thousands of hours of labour that went into putting the book together.

The book is worth that much to the right people who understand how to appreciate a fine work of and Apple knows it.

$ 200 + for the book? a solution for Apple fans furious. It's madness - to buy a book. Companies do want to squeeze all the money from selling their fans (attention) paper!

The problem is you; not the mouse.

1) There's no need to "plug-in" your iPhone. It's not an iPod from the last decade.
2) Why should Apple provide all that space to a single dedicated use old disk slot, that has no other use?
Same kind of person who cried when the dedicated floppy slot went away.
You people scream for "innovation" and then stomp and cry because you can't do things the same way you did them for the last 20 years, because Apple has moved forward.

covers cost of software relicensing and training since they killed off in house applications development they could use to make it. Aperture wasn't easy to migrate from.

Since apple is 2-4 times avg industry price for same stuff....this falls in line with others $49.99 coffee table books. Punchline being with some games collectors edition with the usual art/picture books I also got other goodies. Like keys to unlock nice cosmetics and such in game. Plus the actual game. And some (sometimes) cheesy plastic based item but nice all the same for less than $200 usually.

Wait till you see the ebook price when released....and it won't open on older devices.

Could go on lol

$300 for a book... you can buy Iconic which is very similar for £40.. http://iconicbook.com/work/

While $300 is a lot of money for a book, the quality of photography in Apple's book is leagues beyond Iconic. And I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. As a visual history it's useful, but as an art book... well in this case you get what you pay for.

(no offense meant to the creators)

Agreed, today I saw the Apple book and it is pretty nice and big, I have the Iconic, it is very nice but the quality of the photographs are not that great. People whining about the cost should look at Taschen coffee table books, they are super expensive. Some cost Thousands of $. Again Apple know this and it is catering the high-end crowd and fanatics. Nothing wrong with that. It would be nice down the road they release an iBooks version for free or very cheap.

charging dock? it SHOULD have had the charging connector in fronts so you could charge and use it at the same time like a wired mouse..heck it could have had the connector on bottom, sid, top even but underneath?? that's just STUPID.simple as that.

Are you serious?? If it's a "corded mouse" why bother?
The entire unit itself is essentially a 'rechargeable battery' you plug it into an outlet to charge it (for 3 fkn minutes)
You want to have an opening somewhere along the smooth razor edge?? You know nothing of design (or even practicality).
Do you understand, it's not meant as a 'cordless-as-optional' device? It's purpose is not to use it plugged-in while you work at your computer; and then you can unplug it to take it on the road with you.
You want to use a mouse while it's plugged into your computer? Then use a mouse that plugs into your computer, genius. They cost about $5 at any drug / convenience store.

Okay, everyone's talking about the absurd price. But let's be real - a ****ing book with pictures of Apple products. What the ****.

Anyone who buys this book are justifying Apple's barbaric pricing structure which they still believe is acceptable today. You're allowing them to continue screwing consumers over.

I will laugh very hard if Samsung comes out with a similar book detailing their products in a few months.

They can't. It would just be a photo book filled with photos of half burned products.

they are trying so hard to be part of Steve Jobs legacy but they will never be,
they have been actually ruining his legacy.

Apple died with Steve, like Ellison said.

Yawn. Someone that clearly can't read sales figures. Apple has more doubled it's year on year sales since SJ left.
$108b in 2011
$233b in 2015

Oh and before you say that's dropepd this year... doesn't include last quarter.

2 mins of charge lasts 9 hours. make a coffee and you are good to go for the week. Really is a non issue.
Or if you want poncey Design reasons from a designer...
Shape doesn't allow for plug at end
would spoil the seamless look.
If it's in the bottom then won't get dust in.

Seems silly to use the old one as the new is a lot better at palm rejection and touch overall.

Go to a design book store... There are hundreds and they all cost more than this. It's a design book for designers... Not for you clearly. I am sure you buy stuff that I would find insane too.
