It's not bollox. There will be plenty of hip hop black stars and also black liberal commentators in media that condemn this deal and call him a sell out.

Again people stretching for news. So black people will call him a sell out because he has more than the $550 million prior to this deal. Stop it people, if this was Iovine by himself there wouldn't be nearly as much backlash!!!

So a dude who once grabbed a woman by her hair and slammed her against a brick wall, tried unsuccessfully to chuck her down a flight of stairs, chased her into a women's restroom and punched her repeatedly in the head, kicked her in the ribs and threw her through a door is an Apple executive now. That's interesting I guess.

Not sure why this has so many likes.

You know nothing about what Apple will do with Beats Electronic and you probably know nothing about acquiring a business.

I know nothing about physics either, but I still think it's a bad idea to tie an elephant to a cliff with a daisy when you want to preserve elephants.

I can see why the did it for the subscription music service. Will be interesting to see what happens headphone wise at apple now though.

There's been no mention of Dr working full time.

tech bubble.. all over again..

Actually this is the first rational tech purchase in a long time. Beats actually makes money. This is an anti tech bubble move. Google and Facebook are the ones making absurd acquisitions that make no financial sense.

Came in here to read all the gloom and doom from Apple fanboys that believe they know better than a multi-billion dollar company.

Was not disappointed:D

lol between a company that just built a prototype self driving car vs a company that bought a headphone company for 3 billion. It's really not a hard decision.

Sounds like all eggs in one basket approach/thinking? investment both win win:D

Keyword being prototype and lets not kid ourselves. Its looks outright comical. Volvo is doing a more pragmatic job with their technology. And theirs doesn't look a toy from FisherPrice that'll flip over if you so much as fart near it.

Also Google bought Nest for $3 billion, a company that has less brand recognition, defective hardware, less market penetration, and makes significantly less money.

The same company also bought a declining phone company for $12bn and sold it for $2.9bn 3yrs later with little to show for it besides a bunch of patents.

Yeah...the decision isn't hard at all.

I am selling my apple stocks.

Please do. ASAP.

I agree. I think this was a package deal (and loyalty to Dre).

They did this to get Iovine and his ties to the music industry and also to help them get into TV (I'm sure Iovine can apply his music know how to TV deals for content).

Next in the process was the streaming service. I'm sure they wanted this a little just to improve iTunes/matching/etc.

Finally Dre and the rest of Beats was just part of the package, kinda like when you marry someone and you basically get the in-laws. You didn't marry the in-laws, you just get them in the deal.

Except in this case the in laws are worth three billion dollars so you got all the stuff you really wanted for free.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tim made Jimmy take off his hat!!! Finally!!!! I've never seen him without that hat, and now I know why. But go bald gracefully! Way to go Jimmy!
