ugh....I don't see this being a good thing. These are not the people Apple should be associating with. They are part of the music industry. Apple shouldn't be buying into the industry, they should be tearing the industry apart.

I just don't understand what they mean to gain from this.

Well, among other things Jobs understood the worlds of music, movies, design, and consumers. They have Ive for design, the Burberry lady for consumers, and now they have two dudes for music.

All they need is a movie guy and they've got a Jobs replacement.

So, Dre isn't really a billionaire like he said in his now infamous video, then? Another article on this site suggests he'll cop for $750m from this deal through his stake in the company, and I find it hard to believe he's presently worth the additional $250m.

Forbes reckons he's worth around $500M  SO he'll easily break into that elusive billionaire tax bracket

OK, he'll never have money worries - but still, false advertising! :p

That's probably the off shore monies :D

Haters Will Continue To Hate

Glad that this deal was finally finalized.

Despite what some of the naysayers on this site have been saying, apparently Apple felt like this was a great move. And at the end of the day, will any of the naysayers stop their support of Apple by not purchasing any more Apple products or using their services? I'd wager that the answer to that question is 'nay'.

keep dreaming about how you are getting ripped off

I don't know why this bothers me like it does. Is Apple going to continue selling on the Beats brand or will they shut it down and incorporate it into current products? I can't see Jony Ive wearing a pair of Beats headphones.

Are you Donald Sterling?

Maybe it's just me??

But I find it REALLY IRONIC that Dre is hanging out with a bunch of rich, old white dudes!! :D

I think the majority of it is to get Iovine in there to really bring the music deals into Apple. Not sure why they needed the rest of BEATS but I trust Apple and their vision. They haven't proved us wrong yet.

The only thing I can think of is that they couldn't get Iovine unless they bought the bathwater too. I just can't see Iovine or Dre worth $3 billion. At least they'll get that back in Beats revenue in the next year or two.

Coming soon: iBeats. I really wish this was a joke. Wonder if they'll get executive positions at Apple.
why do you wonder if this is a joke these two men on more than qualified to be executives not to mention they created a market that did not exist!!!!

Agree

Obscene amount of money.

Waste of money. Over 3 Billion for this? If that video is any indicator of things to come for Apple, then its game over soon. I wonder if S.J. would ever approve such a waste of money for this junk.

Apple's short-cut to a subscription service...the mediocre headphones come with it...

I have my doubt about this acquisition. Let's see how well and how soon :apple: can monetize this.
