I'm just waiting for Apple to rename it to iBeat and then use Siri to give voice commands for turning it off and on..

Then my life will be complete when I walk around town and hear everyone telling their phone, "iBeat off"

as for Beats, the best thing they could get from apple is a kick up the bum for better quality headphones and durability.

Let Apple's design team get a hold of them...we'll see some nice changes. But again, this deal has nothing to do with the gear and everything to do with Iovine.

WWDC keynote shwag bag contents 1) iPhone 6 5.5" screen, 1) Nest thermometer and smoke detector. 1) Beats headphones 1) One last thing box- don't open after the keynote.

What an absolute load of bull. Tim Cook's ears must have the audio fidelity of a submerged rock. I sincerely hoped Apple would rather develop dynamic range headphones than go down the route of the artificially heavy-bass codswallop Beats headphones.

Sincerely, sincerely disappointing. I just really hope there's a greater motive behind this.

Apple got beaten by Dr Dre!

I know Apple execs know better than I do but there are better buys for 3Bill....

Let's hope they improve the quality of Beats headphones. They are very badly made, but cost the earth! It is however a very strong brand, with a huge celebrity following. Beats products seems to appear in every music video these days.

You do realize that Beats pays to have their products placed in these videos, don't you?

But any rights negotiated by Beats surely would be re-negotiated upon acquisition. If they music companies didn't put that in the contract, then they are fools.

But Beats bought MOG a year ago and acquired their streaming rights with the sale (obviously). So MOG must have had transferable streaming rights in their original contract - probably because the music industry never saw them "transferring" all he way to Apple.

Waste of money. Over 3 Billion for this? If that video is any indicator of things to come for Apple, then its game over soon. I wonder if S.J. would ever approve such a waste of money for this junk.

SJ doesnt matter now, what should matter is logic and apple's vision. If apple felt Beats is an essential part of reaching its long term goals - then it was a good buy. We wont know it yet, Apples BOD approved it and I am sure they arnt ill-informed billionaires themselves.

I, for one, am pretty excited about this.

If you read up on your Apple history, you'd know that Iovine has helped Apple a lot and has had influence in the company since the introduction of iTunes. Plus he's a really big name in the music industry and that will certainly benefit Apple.

But that would require people here to actually educate themselves and look at something rationally. I think you're expecting too much of the internet. Childish knee-jerk reactions without much deep thought or insight is pretty much all we get here.

Makes me wonder where Apple as a company is going. If I don't align well with these guys, their brand and service, will this continue to be the company I have admired for the past 30+ years? Let's hope it doesn't signal something more significant in terms of company direction.

It's not bollox. There will be plenty of hip hop black stars and also black liberal commentators in media that condemn this deal and call him a sell out.

That's actually not quite what you said. You said the "black community" (as if there's such a thing ) suggesting that wave upon wave of black people will decry this and call him an uncle tom and a sell out.

Well I say again, respectfully, that that's a load of bollox.

Sure, you might get a handful of people that call him a sellout (why, I can't imagine). But that would hardly be "the black community"

RTP.
