The CG renderings on the website are so far from reality it's amazing.

Look at the antenna bands.

Well....now I know I'll be getting the Note 4. :)

PS those leaks ruin the fun of waiting for the actual event.

Just get a 5s then. Simple as that. Between the upgraded camera and Apple Pay, I don't think you'll be missing out on much with the 6.

The problem is, going forward, Apple will no longer make phones I can use. :(

This is really annoying because I have a lot invested in their ecosystem.

What a load of bollocks, very similar styling to original iphone

The original iPhone didn't have an ugly protruding camera bezel on it! Literally, Steve would NEVER have allowed that. It's the one reason I'll now look at other phones. Never thought I'd do that.

That isn't the only change to the camera. Plus megapixels mean little. You should not be comparing cameras based on megapixels.

I agree entirely, and if that was all I was comparing them on then I would consider myself duly chastised.

I also don't want to be an apologist where I see the same, (albeit with incredibly improved individual pixels), 8MP camera, and manage to persuade myself that it's a stepped improvement in a flagship product. Optical image stabilisation and pixel focusing aside.

reading all the posts/reactions of people on the new iphone design and specs really makes me LOL ... for pete's sake if you don't like the product don't buy it.

how do you know that Steve would not allow that design? are you that close to him?

Yeah, the difference between a professionally taken shot (possibly a bit of CGI or image editing) and an amateur one taken with direct flash on the demo floor is staggering right?

While many (deep down inside) agree with you, you'll never get them to admit it today. Heck, most are still cleaning themselves up from The Event.

But when the dust settles, you're points are all very valid. Many phones today exceed the specs of the new iPhone 6. Not much in the way of innovation, sans their iOS 8. I just think they (Apple) aren't interested in coming out with a device that exceeds the specs of others...they're not interested in bigger numbers for megapixels, resolution, etc. There's already 40+MP camera phones, phones with 2GB+ of RAM, phones with microSD card slots for expansion, styluses, curved edges, etc. The iPhone 6 did nothing to best any of that. Bigger, thinner and faster (than last gen). Could have written those three words on a piece of paper weeks ago and been right today.

If I had a dollar for every person here who said they thought a 5.5" phone was ridiculous...that a person using a device that big next to their head looked stupid, that they would never want anything that big and that Apple would never make something so ridiculous...I'd have enough money today to buy an iPhone 6 Plus (not under contract, of course). :D

And while I'm thinking about it, why exactly do you think that megapixels mean nothing? There is obviously a limit to the value that they have - at this point in technological development and at the upper end, the difference in quality between a 40MP and a 30MP is probably negligible for reasons already stated (smaller pixels, tiny lenses etc). i.e. you're just cramming more pixels for the sake of it and calling it improvement

But what I'm arguing is that similar improvements could have been maintained at 12-15MP without impacting on image quality.

Non of the product shots on Apple's website include actually taken images, they're all 100% computer generated renderings.

Funny that you don't even realize that.

So sick of ********* commentary from people who just like to throw negativity over anything they don't understand. If there's some way you're having trouble with this, you need to maybe seek some help. It's a PHONE.

I think it's a fair criticism. Apple relentlessly pursues thinness, even though no one is clamoring for a thinner iPhone. By going thinner, they force themselves to use a smaller battery than would otherwise be possible. Not to mention that ridiculous protruding camera bezel.

So, basically, we're all forced to have substantially reduced battery life so Apple can make the phone a few tenths of a millimeter thinner.

I think most users don't appreciate that tradeoff.

Agreed. Many are likely going to be sticking their iPhones inside a case anyway.

Why the hell do people have a problem with the antenna bands? ...they're on the bloody backside of the phone that you NEVER USE! ...okay, perhaps I wouldn't call them pretty...but they certainly aren't ugly either.

They're there to improve signal strength - to make it a better phone.
...how hard is that to understand?

(Per the verge)....lmaoYes, it's bigger, but the iPhone 6 doesn't really feel big. It feels good, even in smaller hands, and at least on this device Apple's one-handed mode might not be terribly necessary. It's really, remarkably light, and incredibly thin; it seems to make up in ergonomics what it compromised in sheer size. Moving the power button to the side was an obviously smart move, making it at least possible to hold in a single hand. The iPhone 6 Plus is an entirely other matter, but the iPhone 6 still feels like a phone anyone can wield.

Amazes me how now all of a sudden a bigger iphone is ideal, but android had to be crazy making phones that big.. Hilarious

Protruding lens & ugly antenna lines, but I'm still buying it.
So faithful..lol

It's not about specs! It's about User Experience!
