Battery Life Low

Why doesn't Apple care about battery life, year after year the battery only gets marginally better. I would have been happy with the same thinness as iPhone 5 but with bigger longer lasting battery.

They keep making the phones thinner and thinner and the battery smaller and smaller. When will battery life start to matter to Apple? The customer want longer battery life.

You're right, I shouldn't be surprised. I guess I let personal motives cloud my judgement. I had a 64, I was hoping to save a couple of bucks by getting a 32 as a replacement. So much for that.

Well, you'll be getting a 64 gb phone for the price you'd have paid for 32 gb, so you're better off.

----------

The only bad part of the new iPhone is the screen size. And the fact you need to buy the very oversized model to get the best battery life. But apart from that the phones (hurts me to call something that large a phone and not a phablet) is not that bad.

Buy a power case in a month or so and voila, you have extended battery life with the thickness that goes along with it.

I have to assume that's a (very reasonable) guess and not critique of my comment? ...because if 90% are going to use a case then the antenna bands would absolutely not matter for most of those 90% of people? ...which is kind of what I was saying. ;)

the antenna bands will let signal through better than putting them behind the metal shell. Cases allow signals through.

D*** move.

Typical apple move

I was actually pleased by this move. It's always been super annoying that you have to pay $100 for the first 16GB increase, then get 32GB for the second $100. Now $100 gets you 48GB and another $100 gets you 64GB. Seems fairer to me. Sure, it would be better if they charged you $50 to go from a base of 32GB to 64GB and $100 to get up to 128GB, but this is a step in the right direction.

Then why would you get a 16GB? Get a 64GB or 128GB. I don't see the problem.

The right question is "why apple offers this 2007 tech". Stop being a fanboy. You might love apple, but apple doesn't love anybody. It's just business. And i personally feel like if the company is pulling BS on you, you may speak about it and not try to justify it, like you do. Also, 5c 8gb? "Shoot 20 minutes of HD video, it's an iPhone, how cool is that?! Oops, it just stopped."

I see that the funny Apple tax exchange rate is in play:

4.7" 64 GB iPhone 6

$749 USD = $823.90 incl 10% Tax
$999 AUD incl 10% Tax

So 1 AUD = 0.82 USD but the current exchange rate is about $0.92
Expected price ~899 so a $100 Apple Tax on top of already high prices...

And wow $1249 AUD for the top capacity iPhone 6+ almost the same price as a 21.5" iMac:
11" Macbook Air = $1099 AUD
13" Macbook Air = $1199 AUD
21.5" iMac = $1349 AUD

The leaks were certainly accurate and will lead me to trust them more and be less excited for the actual media events in the future. While it's nice they were so revealing it also meant I was rather unimpressed with the event since we saw most of what was unveiled already coming.

That being said I'm up for an upgrade at the beginning of October and am not sure whether I want the iPhone 5S or 6 now since the improvements to the iPhone 6 seem minimal to me and I'm not sure if the extra half an inch of height and extra half an ounce of weight is worth the larger screen size.

I like small phones so the horribly named iPhone 6 Plus is out of the question and I wish the iPhone 6 in space gray was darker instead of lighter and the camera didn't protrude, but the bumps in performance and storage are nice. I'm going to go to the Apple Store to hold them for myself but I think I'll just save some money and get the $150 32GB 5S instead of the $300 64GB 6 since while it has some improved specs it's also bigger and slightly less refined than its predecessor :(

To be honest with you guys, as much as I really like iPhones and Apple - I would prefer to have a smaller phone with much better battery and a much more powerful iPad mini instead of these two caricatures of the iPhone.

apart from a larger screen whats the difference between this an the 5S?

Same(ish) camera
ugly antenna lines

will have to weigh upgrading my iPhone 5 to get the advantage of larger screen and handle down my iPhone 5 to family members...or keep for a while longer...

Why the hell do people have a problem with the antenna bands? ...they're on the bloody backside of the phone that you NEVER USE! ...okay, perhaps I wouldn't call them pretty...but they certainly aren't ugly either.

They're there to improve signal strength - to make it a better phone.
...how hard is that to understand?

How hard is it to understand that 6 iphones prior to this one also had to have a good signal and it was done in a very nice way. When you pay 1000$ for a freaking phone, you expect it not only to be functional and work, but also a beautiful piece of design. At least that's what apple ALWAYS tried to be. Beautiful hardware.

No number of hype can hide the fact that in design terms this is a huge fail. They are so incredibly ugly on the back.
What on earth made them think this look is a good idea?
They might be easy to use and have a lovely screen but ugly is ugly. No getting around it. The first ugly Apple product! Come back Steve!!!
So stunned even though we saw the leaks one kept hoping maybe, just maybe the rumours were wrong. But no. It is true. Apple is now ugly. I have no interest in the watch... That's for the fanboys who have to have everything. The watch looks pretty but what would one do with it that you can't do with your phone?
Perhaps time to think outside the apple...?

The first ugly apple product? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

You delusional Steve fanboys are the worst.

Check out the clamshell ibooks if you want to see ugly.

iPhone 6 Plus gets:

Optical lens stabilization
Higher capacity battery

Too bloody expensive in Europe!

What the?! Have they increased the prices again for both the 6 and 6+? I expected the 6+ to be 100 dollars more expensive, but they've also increased the prize of the "regular" flagship phone. 16 GB for the iPhone 6 starts at 699?!

That's simply outrageous!

I have a lot of questions for all of you knowledgeable Apple peeps:

1. Why is T-Mobile only selling contract-free iPhones on apple's store? If I currently have Verizon, does that mean I won't be able to use it?

2. Does contract-free mean exactly what I think it means, which is there is not a typical 2-year contract which you usually sign up for and then wait until you are eligible to get a new phone? So contract free means if I don't like the phone after 1 week, 1 month, etc. I can just get a new different phone whenever I want to, and the contract free iphone can just sit on my table for the rest of time if I wanted to. Can I return it to Apple?

3. Does contract-free mean it is unlocked and you can use the phone anywhere in the world?- I am currently in New York City.

4. I have a Verizon family plan and will be eligible to upgrade in late Oct. If I purchased the contract free phone now, do I only wait until my plan is up, then activate the the contract free phone? Where would I pay for my service?

5. What if I wanted to buy a 2-year phone for everyone (10 ppl) in my plan? How many am I allowed to for the pre-order?

6. What if I also wanted contract free phones, how many am I allowed to buy? (online)

7. Can you pre-order a mix of both phones?

8. What if I pre-ordered a 2 yr contract phone online, then on Sept. 19 I go to the store to buy off-contract phone? What is the limit one person can purchase? Again, I have 10 ppl on my plan, and everyone wants the new iPhone!

9. What if I want the regular 6 and the plus? They will both be available definitely in store?

These are definitely a lot of questions to ask, & I'd really appreciate if y'all could answer them or some of them. I've googled, and read some of the threads here but didn't find the answers I need to know (or maybe I need them in really layman's terms). I currently have the i5, some in my plan have the 5s & 2 people have a Samsung phone. We all want the new iphones. I admit I don't know much about technology, nor do I care a lot for the most advanced specs, I just want something that is relatively fast & easy for my casual use. I mean, you don't need an extremely advanced phone to check your investments or real estate online. Also I assure you nobody here is starving or sacrificing a lot just to have the new phone, so please don't crucify me for just jumping on the bandwagon or whatever, I've had an iphone since the 3g and like to use it better than android devices.

So thanks for the help ! Anyone!:p:cool:

It's not about specs! It's about User Experience!

Hardware = specs. iOS 8 = User Experience. So, yes, it is about specs when comparing the iPhone 6 hardware with other manufacturers hardware. The user decides on their preferred "user experience" when they decide to buy an iPhone or an Android or a Windows Phone.

When I'm on vacation and shooting pics I want to bring back and print on 24" or 36" roll canvas, do I want an 8MP image or a 40MP image to crop and print on that giant canvas? I choose the latter.

Apple released 2 different phablets? I am disappointed. I knew it was coming though. And the best battery life is only in the larger phablet. That's sad.

I will have to use the iPhablet 6 in store and see Apple have made the OS usable on such a pointlessly large device. I know Android is not suited for it and it's user experience on their phablets is terrible. The phone sized android devices are actually very usable.

Apple has put me in a bind. I want a phone sized phone. But Apple is no longer selling latest generation phone sized phones. So what to do? I need to think.

You realize that "phone sized" and "phablet (cringe) size" are completely arbitrary right? I suspect in a few years people will be clinging onto the "phone sized" 5.5 inch iPhone when 6.5-7 inch phones are all the rage.
