Decisions...

After downgrading from an iPhone 4 to a Samsung S4 last year, I was eagerly waiting for the new iPhone to upgrade.

But now I am forced to make a choice.. 6 or 6plus??

Has Apple lost its confidence? Last year we had 5c and 5s, now 6 and 6plus. Apple watch comes out in 6 combinations (small - large, plain - sport - edition) if I understood correctly..

Where are the days that Apple used to decide for me?!?

Why is 16GB still available as an option in 2014?
iPhones already lack expandable storage.
With iOS taking up a few gigs the actual user space will be even less.

Also, I'm scared to expose any form of liquids near the phone. Why couldn't they make it waterproof like the :apple:Watch or even from the likes of the competition (Samsung S5 or Sony Xperia Z2 or Z3)?

:apple:Pay is great, but they need to enable it on 5S somehow because unless people buy iPhone 6, it's not going to take off.

I'm sorry but this is sad. Same look same home button. Same everything. Nothing innovative but gimmicks since the iPhone 4. And the 6 isn't even 1080p I was hoping to come back from my nexus 5 but this is unimpressive in every aspect.
Not to mention apple.com says 50x faster than the first iPhone. Wow good advertising. It should be cause that's 6 phones ago. I feel bad for Steve Jobs hard work in the past he would be rolling in his grave.

The smartphone segment is matured to a point where one can only be faster
and have sharper displays, better cameras, more memory etc.etc. plus a few gimmicks.

Form factor is a given , since we need to have an ear some place and talk into a mic another place. Buttons and loudspeakers can be anywhere.
Innards must fit battery etc.

So, how to improve the shape?

List what you are missing and is a must have.

Can't be much!

This is a great phone compared to my 4S and I will buy it. Have to feel the size though.

Finally 128GB !

Posted someplace else it should start with 32 GB

That's not very many ppi for that big of a display. Anyone know what the color gamut is on the new ones?

He would be against this because Mr. Jobs would never allow Apple to put out a product that was garbage. He would rather end life the iPhone than sell these. Pick up a Lumia phone or a Samsung phone from LAST YEAR and you will know what we are talking about.

The hockey puck mouse?

Apple released 2 different phablets? I am disappointed. I knew it was coming though. And the best battery life is only in the larger phablet. That's sad.

I will have to use the iPhablet 6 in store and see Apple have made the OS usable on such a pointlessly large device. I know Android is not suited for it and it's user experience on their phablets is terrible. The phone sized android devices are actually very usable.

Apple has put me in a bind. I want a phone sized phone. But Apple is no longer selling latest generation phone sized phones. So what to do? I need to think.

modest camera update?

Outside of the larger display sizes, the iPhone 6/6+ represents incremental hardware updates and modest battery life gains too. No surprise there.

However, I'm not sure specifically about the camera lens being really updated in any significant way? I know Apple said it has a new optical image stabilization & focus features, but it's still 1.5 micron pixels and ƒ2.2 aperture like in the 5S models, so how much improvement really happened here with the camera???

Called it, before the few leaks suggested it.

I wouldn't be shocked if Apple moved to a 16GB/64GB/128GB lineup. The storage tiers have been how they are for so long because 16GB is too small for a lot of people, while 32GB is enough for most people. A lot of people step up to the $299/$699 model as a result.

If they made the base model 32GB, they'd have a huge drop in margin and average selling price. The solution? Offer more value at the $299/$699 price point, and keep the 16GB model around as the cheap model no one should really buy anymore.

This interests me.

Not going to happen

:apple:Pay is great, but they need to enable it on 5S somehow because unless people buy iPhone 6, it's not going to take off.

Seeing as how it requires the new custom security chip only invented for the iPhone 6/6+, there's no way to "enable" it to work with the 5S.

Disappointing that they didn't leave an option for people who like smaller phones. Based on android phones I've tried out in stores both of these are too big to use with one hand. Since they decided to have 2 sizes why couldn't they have left a 3rd smaller one?

Apple is still selling the iPhone 5c and 5s as their entry level iPhones - with 4" displays.

16gb standard and then 64gb or 128gb? Wtf? I don't need 64 or 16 but 32gb!

So for the same price you would have paid for 32gb, you're now getting 64gb. This is not a bad thing lol.

I have to agree with mbsalinas here; you're getting more for $299 at 64GB than the previous 3 years of 32GB at the same price point. Not to mention the 128GB option being offered now.

I understand if you wanted the entry level iPhone to start at 32GB to save yourself $100, but let's not kid ourselves here as Apple wants to make some money on these widgets and they gotta compel you somehow, right?

so the 5.5" has twice the pixels, does it also have twice the GPU power?

Ignorant comment! Don't think you can speak for the dead when they can't speak for themselves. You don't like the new iPhone. That's it. Period! One opinion means nothing!

After watching Apples show today, it seems the iPhone was a place holder until it was Tim's turn to walk out with the watch. That's where Apple has turned its full attention.

It will be interesting to see what the public thinks of a watch that only works if you buy Apples phone, part of the closed captive Apple system. Insecure regarding being cool or not, many people are likely to buy into the Apple way.

"The "insert latest iPhone here" is so disappointing"

- Proceeds to preorder on the 12th.

Happens every year around here.

The only bad part of the new iPhone is the screen size. And the fact you need to buy the very oversized model to get the best battery life. But apart from that the phones (hurts me to call something that large a phone and not a phablet) is not that bad.
