I disagree - it's not greed. There is a lot of high technology in there. They want to keep the company strong so a 40% profit margin ensures that they can continue to bring us the latest and greatest.

The latest and greatest? So lets see what new technology was on show today...

Smartwatches with cellular connectivity - That would be a no.

Bezel less smartphone designs - Nope

OLED displays - Again, no.

Wireless charging - Starting to notice a pattern emerging..

4k Streaming - About year after the competition.

Animated emojis - that was new.

I'm not sure he'd have gone for the "You now invoke Siri with the button you use to turn the phone off" either?

I'd expect more of a "Force Touch where the Home Button should be to invoke Siri" method?

Apple used to do so well with UI* and pushing UI *consistency* across OS, Apps, generations of devices, etc.. Now you have multiple ways to unlock the phone and invoke Siri between iPhones launched on the same day?

Maybe I'm officially old, but this is just seems annoying to me?

* Yes, the Apple UI consistency ship sailed away long long ago, but that doesn't mean that stuff like this doesn't still make your brain itch if you remember the good ole days where we made fun of Microsoft for this sort of crap...

There seems to be an inconsistent approach to everything at Apple these days, not just software, but hardware, retail etc.
Time for Cook to go and give someone else a fresh start.

The real concern is if there is a way to trick it using other means. And Apple didn't go into any detail in regards to that.
They said that the designers worked to make sure the phone couldn't be tricked by photos or masks...how many other methods of fooling it can you think of that they ought to have covered in that two hour keynote?

But I imagine the answer to your question will be out within a few weeks as: (1) every Apple site, including this one, will probably have some reports on tricks used by the creators to fool the software that didn't work and why, and (2) as soon as the phone is out, everyone and their brother is going to be testing that software and trying to trick it. If it can be tricked, we'll find out soon.

So, either your worries about tricking it will be confirmed or eased soon.

I can already see divorce filing skyrocketting caused by those jealous wify's unlocking their husband's phones while they're sleeping (a lot easier than Touch ID)
i think eyes must be open, hence it won't work with sunglasses

So, it won't be possible to unlock the iPhone X while driving (or at least it will be VERY dangerous). Now I can send a message with Siri without looking at the phone, just pressing the button, unlock with Touch ID at that´s all.

Hey Siri can do the same thing.

What most people do after unlocking their iPhone is more dangerous than looking at it quickly.

Insulting were exactly? But again my excuse for what? Please stay with me in topic
Your excuse for calling me a Apple troll because I think Apple selling overpriced tech where Xiaomi and many other vendors deliver better for less than half the price.

$1149 actually
I was thinking it would be $200 more, but $150 is close enough. 64GB wouldn't be enough for me and I assume many here are in the same situation so it's no longer a question should I pay $1,000+ for a iPhone. It's a question of should I pay over $1,200, maybe close to $1,300 for a iPhone with tax included.

About hei siri? Handle a phone while driving is not safe, and is a criminal offence

And I watched on LTE on my phone and it was perfectly fine.

I was in front of my Apple TV with an uninterrupted 100mbs connection, but at least 50% of the keynote was unwatchable due to delays, hangups, and video/audio that was not synced. Nice job Apple.

Kind of hard to get excited about these new things when they can't even get this right.

So much negativity here. Yes, FaceID failed at first but TouchID still fails occasionally. It took Apple several iOS upgrades to get TouchID to work as well as it does. FaceID will be no different. Good grief guys.
People are replying to what they see.
They witnessed a promise that wasn't delivered.
Nobody signed up for future prospects, because those weren't announced.

I'm in for an X as it's just what I wanted - basically the same screen size as a Plus in the form factor of my 7. With dual cameras, wireless charging and face ID. Touch ID is great half the time for me, when sailing or working my hands get wet or dirty so touch ID doesn't work. A welcome change for me.
By the time I put an Apple case on it the screen will go to the edge of the case and allow it to protect it without covering it.

The about $20 per month additional charge over my 7 on ATT next installment plan doesn't make any difference to my finances.

Bravo Apple!

The funny thing is that I am not a fan of the watch but thought the AppleWatch S3 was the only best thing in the event.

I think the notch should be black to blend in with the bezel and have the option of Touch ID. For those reasons, I am not buying the iPhone x. I have never felt so disappointed. My previous: 3GS, 4, 5, 6, and currently: 6S Plus.
Not agree. Best is to make it configurable whether to use it or not to hide the notch. By hiding the notch, I mean to make display go black around the notch.

really interesting storage options: 64 and 256. I bet those 256 are gone within a minute of preorders going live on 10/27. 128 and 256 would have made more sense for a "pro" design.

For better or worse the iphone x launch will coincide with rumored Pixel 2 launch.

As much as I love iOS, the hardware/software optimizations and integration across apple devices I will wait to see what Google pushes out for the Pixel 2 and make a decision then on which phone to get. Hopefully we will have more insight into the iphone x by then as well.
