I was fine and actually quite excited until the following happened.

  • The FaceID fail on its first run. Proper shockingly bad. If it doesn't work when Apple need it most why should it work for me when I need it?
  • Landscape mode video - the corners were rounded missing the picture and the notch chopped the edge off! No thanks!
  • No explanation if sunglasses worked or not - assuming not.
  • The £999 price tag. OMG.

Wrong! I'm an Apple fan neglected for years by Apple and the reality distortion marketing from Apple isn't working for me any more. Just comparing products by specs, possibilities and price. What's your excuse?

Excuse for what neglected dude?

I disagree - it's not greed. There is a lot of high technology in there. They want to keep the company strong so a 40% profit margin ensures that they can continue to bring us the latest and greatest.

You might be happiest with a used phone, or the iPhone SE model if you want to "save money" - but I don't think you really do save money in the long run using old equipment.

Any cell phone is a bargain when you look at the tech in it. Get the best value for the dollar and your time spent by getting the latest and greatest as soon as you can.
Samsung charging nearly $200 for the OLED screen certainly doesn't help

Jobs would never have allowed the notch!

I'm not sure he'd have gone for the "You now invoke Siri with the button you use to turn the phone off" either?

I'd expect more of a "Force Touch where the Home Button should be to invoke Siri" method?

Apple used to do so well with UI* and pushing UI *consistency* across OS, Apps, generations of devices, etc.. Now you have multiple ways to unlock the phone and invoke Siri between iPhones launched on the same day?

Maybe I'm officially old, but this just seems annoying to me?

* Yes, the Apple UI consistency ship sailed away long long ago, but that doesn't mean that stuff like this doesn't still make your brain itch if you remember the good ole days where we made fun of Microsoft for this sort of crap...

I fear the iPhone X is going to be the new Cube G4 ( for those who remember it )

( the new watch is very exciting though )
How so?

This is will sell very well, probably break records. The issue for me is that isn't very special....should just be the iphone 8.

I can already see divorce filing skyrocketting caused by those jealous wify's unlocking their husband's phones while they're sleeping (a lot easier than Touch ID)

Samesungs facial recognition was fooled by photos by the first reviewers of the device lol

That's not the biggest issue. I used it for 2 weeks, the facial recognition works very well, though the experience of looking at your phone sucks, touchid is so so much better, given it's a phone..... I don't like using a phone as a mirror....feels all wrong

Does touch id fail when you restart the phone and it say touch id require your pin code? Because this is what happen with the first phone except it said face id require your pin code off course...go and eatch the clip again

For $1000 it feels very beta/unfinished.

Why they bothered with an iPhone 8 i don't...well i guess they're struggling to make the X but really who would want an 8 over the X

Also getting rid of series 2 apple watch and keeping series 1 seems...stupid.
Yeah, it still dazzles me they did not substitute Tim Cook with you immediately... amateurs!

I'm pretty sure Face ID didn't actually 'fail'. It looks like the iPhone just needed the passcode to activate the feature - same as TouchID. With that said, it's still a little embarrassing.

So, it won't be possible to unlock the iPhone X while driving (or at least it will be VERY dangerous). Now I can send a message with Siri without looking at the phone, just pressing the button, unlock with Touch ID at that´s all.
