Again ... if Touch ID fails it will ask zou for the passcode to enable it again.
Until then, no fingerprint is even verified.

Same with Face ID.
So, it did fail.

So why failed with one phone and worked flawlessly with the second phone? One was just restarted? It was the wrong phone? Software is still buggy, we don’t know, you don’t know, about we try it first and talk later?

Enjoy
WTF? THE SPEAKER HUMP IS REAL? I'D RATHER CATCH SYPHILIS FROM A HYENA!!!

Edit: "speaker hump" = the cutout with "true depth" camera system + speaker + proximity sensor + ... at the top
Enjoy, stay deep in your knees... these animals are tiny.

I like the design of it and portrait mode for front camera but this isn't a must buy or early adopter device for me. I'm fine with my 7plus. I will see what Apple has in store next year to see if the X will be worth it then.
I'm using a 6plus currently. I'm glad the iPhone X isn't compelling enough to seduce people who've had their current phone less than a year. It will get them out of my way when it comes time to pre-order on 10/27. Please don't change your mind until I get my order in!

I enjoyed the 6+ for the time that I have had it, but I'm ready for some of the new features of the iPhone X, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 6s.

All those people that are complaining about Samsung, Apple, LG, and other manufactures should build their own smartphones, TVs and so on.

won't know until reviewers get the phone mailed to them to play with.
No. Phil said. He showed a picture of a person holding a picture and said that the designers made sure that a photo wouldn't work. Nor would a mask made to look like the person.

My thought, too. Maybe you can doubble tap on lower screen area to archive same effect as currently on home button? or simply swipe down (gesture) in lower screen area – or 3D touch-down-press-while-swipe-down-area-AND-face-ID … : D
That would be, actually, an interesting approach.

Nov. 3 release date, but realistically people will be lucky to get it before the end of the year.
They have almost 2 months to ramp up production. Plenty of time to bring up numbers, it better be readily available by then!

I only want to know is how will 3rd party apps handle the Notch. Will Netflix be able to make video render in the proper aspect ratio to how the movie was made? Or will Apple force them to incorporate the Notch and the curves at the bottom? I would think Apple would let the developers decide?

Much like the Essential Phone right now, I think most apps would actually simulate black borders around the video or app

Am I the only one who was hoping Apple would win me back over from the S8? Where is the huge leap forward with iPhone X? What did I miss?

The days of huge leaps are gone - at least until technologies advance significantly from where they're at now. This is true for Apple, as well as Samsung, and HTC and every other manufacturer out there.

Sure, we'll see improvements in battery life, driven by improvements in screen tech (such as the coming micro-LCD), and processor speed increases, but I'm not sure what people think is going to come out of a rectangular screened mobile computer / phone.

Nice, I like the design, my money is ready to go. I think the notch is awesome functionally, they had to have a bezel there so why not save on space and incorporate the status bar into it. I do think them not blacking out the "ears" when apps are enabled is terrible and hope they rethink that, or that devs can overcome it.

One question not answered is how the function bar will work, but from what I saw it looks like it's mainly software based and will be able to be hidden, which was my main concern. I'm also ecstatic they kept the hardware mute button, not sure why no other phones have this valuable feature.

But the design is awesome, they leapfrogged all the other bezel-less phones IMO. It's a shame it will be hamstrung by iOS, but I've learned to live with that.

2016 - AAAAH WHY APPLE, SAME DESIGN AGAIN, WHEN WILL YOU MOVE AWAY! LOOK AT SAMSUNG

2017 * APPLE LISTENS * " WAAAAH WAAAAH THERES ACTUALLY NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT WAHHHH ANYWAY"

Point: This phone is Apples own, they didn't want to copy the competition. Stop complaining about the "notch", you complained about bezels for 3 years now they removed them and kept all features of iPhone that makes it iPhone and you want to carry on complaining. I cant find one thing actually wrong with this phone, people love a good moan thats all

Apple engineers: Tim, we managed to integrate touchId under the screen. It works flawlessly.

Tim Cook: Great, hold it for next year's.

It's getting bad. They have no foresight whatsoever into knowing if Touch ID works on their new screens to they ham up this face ID backup plan. Lol. There is nothing innovative about this phone. It still have bezels all around it and now a glaring notch drop down into your information. Crazy.

I don't understand why Apple is using inferior AMOLED technology.

That status bar/camera notch area. Ugh :(

So almost 800 posts in this thread. About 750 and negative from the usual apple (and presumably everything else) haters. So, once again MacRumors boys have announced another Apple failure. Poor apple. If only they were loved by the macrumors boys, they would do OK. Meanwhile, those with class who understand that there has to be an area on the front and find the notch acceptable (as I do) will be able to benefit from the 750 who have no intention of buying a new phone but do spend their lives here hating apple. More phones for us. Yea.

I actually think $349 is a very good price. The bezels are big on the top and bottom, just like every other phone until the X. And I actually don't have a problem with bezels. It's where my fingertips go when I'm holding it.
I don't know if you have compared other phones from any other vendor. But big bezels are passé. It looking so 2007 and nobody is using it anymore.

I'm going to run my 6 Plus one more year. If Apple doesn't come out with something more competitive in price with the Galaxy S8 by then I will probably switch to Android. I like iOS but there just isn't anything in the iPhone X that commands a $275 premium over a comparable S8 to me, and I'm not going to spend $75 more for a four-year-old design iPhone 8 Plus either.

Apple has priced me out of the market which is certainly their prerogative. I've got the feeling I'm not the only one, but it is going to take at least six months to find out for sure. We'll almost certainly see comparable quarter and year-over-year declines in unit sales when the September 30 results are announced. With the iPhone X only available for two months in the next quarter Tim can blame supply constraints for a comparable quarter decline then too. However, if they don't catch up by the March 31 quarter it will show that demand has fallen.

Yeah. This is too much.... They should've done $999 USD for 128GB. and $1300 USD for 128 GB... 64 is too small. At $1500 I might as well get a new Macbook.....

Exactly this. I get the phone is a supercomputer in your hand, and so maybe the price is warranted for all that it does. At the end of the day though, that's just too much, even the price *is* valid. This is the first time I've ever looked at an iPhone and just couldn't justify it strictly based on price. Maybe that'll change, but I really don't think so. I thought that the 7 was expensive. This is a *lot* more.

Nice phone although the camera bar notch is pretty ugly. The hyperbole was a bit much this time around, however. I don't see anything particularly revolutionary about iPhone X. It's a great phone and Face ID is compelling new tech, but defining the next decade of smart phone development? Really?

Everything announced today was a clear step forward, but I didn't find anything particularly revolutionary or exciting.

I really believe that AR is 100% the future they are talking, showing what they did with the MLB app especially is the future of live sports. I think this camera/FaceID tech is simply how they introduce the future.

Can't wait for iGlasses with AR built in, TAKE MY MONEY NOW FOR THAT TECH!!

I think the X is a fantastic phone and I want one. I don't want one enough to endorse apples **** pricing policy, ****ing over their UK customers and generally taking the utter piss with their pricing.

I was about to comment on this! The introduction of the iPhone X went from “I like the design and i can’t wait to see the software” to a disappointed “Is that it” when they showed no advantages over the iPhone 8 other than an extra inch of screen estate that devs won’t use because fewer people will buy it. The Canadian pricing just killed the whole deal and I’m starting to question if I should just buy a red iPhone 7 or just keep my 6S and dip my toe in Android-land.

Reminds me of my feelings about the MacBook Pro >= 2016. Nice, but way too expensive.

I'm going to wait a year, the features of the iPhone X will be integrated into next year's phone, probably at a lower price.

iPhone 8 is extraordinarily underwhelming.

How long until we start seeing reviews pop up? I'd imagine they'd start seeding these to tech publications and such right away? Really on the fence with the X....debating if I go to an S8/S8+ for a year until the 2nd gen. The notch is bothering me the most.
