Mea culpa, Apple. After the Air went up to $1099, I thought $599 was a wild dream for the Neo. But you did it! Definite buy.
8GB of RAM looks especially bad in light of macOS 26 Tahoe's performance complaints.

Looks like no Touch-ID for the base model.
And no P3 display, MagSafe, ambient light sensor, Force Touch trackpad, or Thunderbolt.
Probably compromises their target audience would be ok with.

Surprised but happy with the price and specs, colors are too muted, really wanted them to go G3 iMac with it

Not lighter and not really feature interesting honestly.
It's cheap .. in price and what it is.
I hope EDU buys it up (or kids), otherwise I think this will come and go and not make much of a dent.
The competition is much better MBA's on sale or refurb.

For most home users, this is a great device. Pricing isn't quite perfect, but why would you want a crappy Windows device over the Neo?
It's a 20w charger and has 2 ports for charging. Why does it need MagSafe?

Was 100% buying one if it had 12Gig or more of RAM. Oh well.
Not really the replacement for the 12" MacBook that many thought it would be.
13" display size, and no significant difference in weight or footprint (actually slightly thicker) from the 13" Air. It's basically just a lower-spec'd version of the 13" Air.
Its price is its selling point, quite literally.

As expected the illuminated keyboard is also gone.
Very curious about those 'new' speakers.
One positive aspect: Notice how the headphone jake returned back to the left side (where it should be for all models). I had feared that port would be removed entirely.
The A-chip has more bandwidth limitations so it is somewhat reasonable to be honest, even more consodering your can use the slower one for charging and the faster one for your desired peripherals. Leaving aside that this Macbook isn't meant for professional users anyway.

The colour matched keyboard has big fisher price energy.
Yes it does -- 20W USB-C charger.
Surprised to see the starting price at $599 and $499 for education. Quite a few compromises. No MagSafe for the new laptop and the $599 version lacks TouchID. Only 8GB RAM. The yellow/citrus looks nice. Not happy with rest of the colors.

Sorry, but 8 GB of memory is just unacceptable. macOS Tahoe uses 5 GB all by itself!
At $599, and maybe a discount on sale, it’s hard to complain about any particular features on this MacBook. It’s an inexpensive machine to run MacOS. Word processing, web browsing, iMessage, etc.

Folks complaining about the specs need to remember this model fills the role of the M1 MacBook Air that Apple has been selling through Walmart and that model has been quite popular per reports.
This is the "Apple Chromebook" for education (where the price is $499) and the "Apple Netbook" for consumers who will literally use it to check email and do online commerce.
