so if they're **** doesn't matter you paid $550.I’m being unreasonable for waiting to get them in hand to judge for myself?
A price tag says NOTHING to me about quality. I want to judge for myself.
If you think these bluetooth headphones will come anywhere near any audiophile grade headphones you can get for $500, you're smoking crack.
I can guarantee my LCD-2's and DT1990's will walk all over these and laugh while doing it.
Stop trying to defend Apple for being ******.
Damn, I could barely justify half the cost given how locked in they are but you do you. Shame they're not available where you are.Couldn’t care less. I’ll buy another pair in a heartbeat on original price if I can buy them. The first pair I have I have to import them, and I love them. And this was before the latest home theater firmware update.
Not true..Apple specifically endorsed this functionality on their website.Actually you most likely cannot, as it is only a charging port (same as the Beats Solo Pro's).
Based on the replies, it’s painfully obvious most here have never purchased high end headphones.
In the audiophile space, $550 is not unreasonable. We’ll see if the sound lines up with the asking.
These are not geared toward the casual, bargain oriented user; and that’s ok. Not certain how something can be overpriced before anyone has reviewed them.
What I find endlessly fascinating is the cycle of Apple releasing a new product, being immediately panned for design and/or price, only for said product to become the de facto staple in its respective category (remember the “cotton swab” memes 🤔).
Rinse and repeat, it seems.
Yeah, that’s seems shortsighted and inconsistent with everything else moving toward USB-C.Why Lightning? Why?
In different times, it could be possibly a "try before you buy". Not so much today.Nice... I'd get those just for phone calls if they're comfortable and also sound great for music.
Wired >>> Wireless.> audiophile
> doesn't have a headphone jack port
sorry, but that makes no sense at all.
I think we now know where the cut outs of the assless chaps have gone to.Or something... It looks ridiculous! What protects the mesh 'canopy'? If this were April 1st, I'd call it a joke.

500$ audiophile headphones? I'd love to hear about these. The ones I use cost 1500$. Audiophile grade headphones cost quite a lot.If you think these bluetooth headphones will come anywhere near any audiophile grade headphones you can get for $500, you're smoking crack.
I can guarantee my LCD-2's and DT1990's will walk all over these and laugh while doing it.

"On paper" they're much more than anything else in the price range.No-one minds expensive if the expense is worth it....but just on paper bar the apple convenience with pairing these look expensive compared to quite a few other products...it will be interesting to see what the reviewers say and what I think when I actually try a pair....
Totally agree on this post, even the USB-C choice. Seems a bit lazy to go with lightning here. But hey, it gives Tim a chance to sell another adapter cable (lightening to 3.5").My $1200 Shure’s laugh at this price. All the whining about the price of these is amusing to an audio enthusiast. Apple has actually done something unique, design-wise (though I give the white version 6 weeks before it gets grungy as hell). SQ remains to be heard, but I will wager it’s pretty good.
Lightning cable was arguably a poor choice- USB-C should have been used.
Will wait for the second version next year or two.
Ah then perfect because Apple doesn't advertise them for studio recording engineers. 🙄These are utterly useless for recording engineers.
Exactly and I’m sure Denon is shivering in their boots right now...
...and they also come with a return policy.so if they're **** doesn't matter you paid $550.
I have to assume there will be a case sold as an accessory that protects the entire thing because the included bra doesn't look protective for some parts.
