To those posting about the "ridiculous" price...

Just think about how many millions in profit you could make if you could engineer and mass produce a better product for $399! Hit me up when they're ready!

I ordered these, but your statement makes little sense. Other companies engineer and mass product quality products that are excellent for much less than this. People have a right to complain about the price if they want just as Apple has the right to charge whatever they want.

I will wait until they release a diaper, I mean a leather sleeve, for the headphone so I can keep it protected. Air Pods Max + Apple Care + Diaper Leather Case = $1,000. :)

It’s not an outrageous price for the features.

That said, no cable for playing instruments and such? That’s a tough pill to swallow at that price point.

I don't think I could walk up and down the streets using macarons in my ears...

A lot of Apple products seem overpriced but this one definitely takes the cake for me. Wow.
Yeah, no wonder they slipped it out the door with little fanfare before Christmas— even they are ashamed of the price.

Based on the replies, it’s painfully obvious most here have never purchased high end headphones.

In the audiophile space, $550 is not unreasonable. We’ll see if the sound lines up with the asking.

These are not geared toward the casual, bargain oriented user; and that’s ok. Not certain how something can be overpriced before anyone has reviewed them.

What I find endlessly fascinating is the cycle of Apple releasing a new product, being immediately panned for design and/or price, only for said product to become the de facto staple in its respective category (remember the “cotton swab” memes 🤔).

Rinse and repeat, it seems.

NOK 6990,-

That is a. lot. And here I thought my Sennheiser Momentum 3 were expensive... :p

We're coming close to USD 790. Ok, so the Norwegian price includes 25% sales tax, and the USD/NOK is strong at the moment, but still. That. Is. A. Lot.

And I still haven't opened the box on the free Beats Studio 3 Wireless that I got with my MBP last year.

Probably not gonna get these...

As long as Blu-Ray sounds good I'll pay anything. Just let me pick up the bar of soap while I'm at it.

Maybe stop assuming. Just because someone doesn’t like the price doesn’t necessarily mean they cannot afford it.
I've hated on a lot of things I can afford because they appear to have one main, or secondary goal: To raise the prices of competing products.

Apple comes out with these, at $550. Bose comes out with a pair for $600. Someone else comes out with some for $700. Laugh if you want, but it happens in capitalism all the time. Driving the prices higher is sad...

Actually you most likely cannot, as it is probably only a charging port (as in the Beats Solo Pro's).
That doesn't make sense. Why would you be charging via a 3.5mm audio plug plugged into a charging brick with the lightning end in the headphone? It usually works the other way around, like the charging cable for some iPod nanos.

I have to assume there will be a case sold as an accessory that protects the entire thing because the included bra doesn't look protective for some parts.
Yeah, I think the point for a case is to protect the entire thing.

I expect doubling the use of it as a carrying band will get it dirty very easily, specially the white variant.

There are plenty of really good headphones in that price range. No reason Apple shouldn't be able to make one that sounds amazing.

550$ wait what? For a headphone? WAIT WHAT !?

I originally ordered the silver, but started to think the ear cups might get grungy after a while. So I cancelled and reordered for Space Gray. Still shows Dec 15-17 delivery.

No-one minds expensive if the expense is worth it....but just on paper bar the apple convenience with pairing these look expensive compared to quite a few other products...it will be interesting to see what the reviewers say and what I think when I actually try a pair....

The comments whining about price make me laugh. You have many other options available at lower price points (AirPods, AirPods Pro, Sony XM4, Bose, etc.) but the level of entitlement here is breathtaking!

These are clearly aimed at the higher end market. Sorry you can't have everything for free.

Nice... I'd get those just for phone calls if they're comfortable and also sound great for music.
