The problem with HomePod is not the price. I’m still perfectly happy to buy at the original price. The problem is I can’t buy it because it is sold in very few countries.
We've got it here in the UK. And it's not exactly been a barnstorming success since its launch...

The lack of proper folding is also an annoyance. One thing I like about my Sennheiser Momentum 2s is that they completely fold up, taking up less space, and automatically switching the headphones off to conserve battery.

That said, for me the benefit - as someone who spends 90% of their time using a Macbook or an iPhone - is the seamless integration across devices. The ease of connection, audio sharing, the way it switches audio between devices... those are big factors for me. For medical reasons I can't currently use my AirPod Pros, but it's one of the things I love so much about those.

I want them... I just don't know if they can justify the price. Annoying we'll have to wait and see.

Are we expecting these to sell out on launch day? Only wondering if it might be worth pre-ordering and then returning them if they're no good.

This is social engineering and it's brilliant. Apple made these more expensive on purpose because there is no shortage of people who will buy them because they are so expensive, to be seen wearing them. These are gonna sell like crazy as an identity/status flex.

I’ve bought so many wireless headphones I’ve hated and had to return so if these deliver as the only one I’ll need then I’m willing to pay for it. But if it ain’t better than what’s out there, yikes.

If they were priced at $350 they would be competitive to Bose / Sony. This price is crazy. Wouldn’t wear them out in public for fear of them being snatched off my head.

Agreed. I'm sure an aftermarket version will come along for this.
I don’t think there’s a nondigital path to the drivers via the lightning port, hence a hard pass for audiophiles due to the redundant AD-DA conversion.

WOW! This is the most comments I've ever seen on a post, even more than the new iPhones!

Continue hating on the price!

Sony XM4 arent magic. I had the XM3. The touch-controls were wonky. It had bluetooth pairing and app issues. Most annoying though was that the microphone quality was horrendous. (It was also hamstrung with single-device connectivity, though thats been changed)

Apple doesn't chase the 99th percentile of absolute audio, video, picture, technical performance.... what they do right is 95% of performance, and 100% usability.

This is why companies keep copying Apple products on looks, tries to beat them in specs, but in the end still falter.

I mean fundamentally there's no good reason to get one over a Sonos One which has much better features. It works across a huge range of streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Deezer, and Tidal, can connect and easily pair with Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac devices, and gives you options about which AI voice service you prefer to use, etc. HomePods are relatively limited in comparison. You can only use Apple Music, only use Siri, and they don't apparently reliably play well with Android or Windows devices as part of a networked setup. Oh and the Sonos One is £80 cheaper. The HomePod is inherently going to struggle to compete in that market imo.

People have very...let's say interesting...opinions about how Apple should price their products.

I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price. I hate the price.

Couldn't resist to order even tho I hate the price.

Did I mention I hate the price yet?

Bose and audio quality don't go together. This is from someone who foolishly fell for their marketing and bought their top of the line audio system and their QC headphones. Huge waste of money. That's why people say "Bose, no highs no lows".

Bose speakers are a joke. Bose may make descent noise cancelling headphones, but their speakers are absolute junk. Pure marketing BS. You know instantly that one has no clue what they’re talking about if you hear the words “quality” or “high-end” in the same sentence as Bose speakers.

Not only are they heavy but they look it lol those pics of the website make them look bigger than some of the heads they’re on. The head strap and pads do look comfy though.

The price is a joke IMO but one that’s fitting of what we all predict Apple would do.

I’ll be interested to hear the reviews if the sound is worth it.

And i forgot to say, that you pay 600 for THAT PRO headphones to listen on devices where you cant even natively set custom EQ for each song ...
