No charger, sure....

But that's the dumbest "case" I've ever seen. I mean that's not even a "case" with the headband completely exposed. I mean WTF? Did Ive snuck into the design department again?

Cool, I need an upgrade!

"This bi-directional cable can be used with both 3.5 mm audio-out and audio-in ports, allowing you to connect your AirPods Max or Beats Solo Pro headphones to 3.5 mm audio sources, or to connect your iOS or iPadOS device to speakers with 3.5 mm audio ports."
Listed in the description of Apple's 3.5mm to lightning cable.
Yet the 'Tech Specs' say 'Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0'. IF it had cable connectivity, wouldn't Apple say that in this section of the specs?

I watched Apple's ad for these. Man I did not know a headphone could float you into space then lay you gently down on a couch. They must be worth every penny! Kidding aside, time will tell if these are overpriced or not. There is some design appeal to them, and there is competition at this price point but are they any better? For now I'll take a wait and see attitude, and wait for the inevitable sales before jumping in.

I owns a bunch of audiophile headphones and while $549 is not outrageous for high end headphones, it easily tops the competitions in the not too crowded high-end bluetooth headphone market and has to be justified by pretty high standard and verified by some very picky ears.

Price is high but it makes sense to differentiate them from Beats. It’ll be a matter of reviews to determine if they’re worth that price. As others have mentioned the decision that doesn’t make sense to me is Lightning.

I can imagine some folks might want to use these with their Mac but only have an Android phone. Why on Earth would Apple go with Lightning here?

It all about audio quality and comfort! Looks is cool but it the other two are not there, you are wearing something you hate even if it is stylish and overpriced!
Bose and audio quality don't go together. This is from someone who foolishly fell for their marketing and bought their top of the line audio system and their QC headphones. Huge waste of money. That's why people say "Bose, no highs no lows".

As someone who has been an Apple fan for almost 2 decades with a borderline headphone addiction (recent collection over the last few years included audeze , Bose, B&w, sennheiser, grado, paradigm, akg, kef, and custom builds like fostex argons, and many more) these would have been an instant buy but at that price it’s a hard pass.

We’ll see how the reviews turn out.

Big mistake at that price. Bose and sony have nothing to worry about. I wonder how the noise cancelling compares? Doubt they can beat the bose QC35

Ugly, don't fold down, and overpriced. I guess the Sony will be getting some money from me for the first time in a while.

386 g weigh too much
$550 costs too much
not folding
not charging without a case
lightning port

I guess, spatial audio would sound nice, but only in conforming apps and media, so limited.
In the end, hell no. Better grab Sonys M3 for $250

Yet the 'Tech Specs' say 'Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0'. IF it had cable connectivity, wouldn't Apple say that in this section of the specs?
Yea, it's weird that it's not listed but definitely possible:

Look at the description mentioning the Airpods Max.

Probably not listed on the tech specs because it requires a cable that's not in the box?

Folks here obviously aren’t familiar with the headphone marketplace. These aren’t out of line with other audiophile lineups. Whether or not they can keep pace in their price range is the question that needs to be answered.
How is this audiophile? Not even close. I have Beoplay H7, premium materials, design, but not audiophile stuff.

My son is a musician so I get that quality studio headphones are very expensive, but this product appears to be targeted to consumers who typically purchase Bose or Sony headphones so $550 make absolutely no sense.
