The thing about the AirPod Pro's, and regular AirPod's for that matter, is that they brought something new to the market. Convenience, the battery case, portability were all huge factors for the originals, which is why I was willing to spend, what I thought was a lot, 250 dollars on them. 550 dollars for headphones just cause they're made by apple? when there are a million competitive products already on the market for half the cost? Whats the 'one more thing' with this?

Basically everyone who gets this will look like they're carrying a purse.

Five hundred forty-nine dollars? Either the dollar has taken a severe devaluation or there is a lot of gold in those headphones. Only one thing to say about the price: “Oh My God” No thanks, Apple....

The headphon jack adapter is actually bidirectional too as you can plug headphones with a mic in (I was doing just that for a conference call about an hour ago)
Yes it can do mic input on the adapter, but the Airpods Max and the Beats Solo do not work in that way, they only allow the cable to be used for audio input and not the headphone jack adapter.

I'm sure plenty of rich non-white men will wear the heck out of them too. Athletes, celebrities, some random Apple obsessed rich people, reality tv people like the Kardashians, etc.
Not to be antagonistic, but what does skin color have to do who wears them?

Actaully a great product if you're working from home, both for listening in private and for blocking out noise from family, neighbours etc. Love my Airpod Pros but these would obviously be more comfortable for longer durations. Gimme.

$550 is an absolute non-starter. There is nothing in here that make them any better than Bose or Sony. Get outta here with that price.

Hmm, so for that price you can get all the following over here:
1 x Bose 700
1 x Audio-technica ATH-M50X
1 x Audio-technica ATH-M50XBT

and still have enough cash left for a pair of Beats Flex and Neverwinter Nights on the IOS appstore.

Guess that's a pass from me 🥳.

They are selling out and shipping times are slipping into next year some into March. So for many this is not expensive at all.

Studio quality headphones cost $1,500+
..yes, but they are actually Studio quality?

These remind me of those cars that were sold with the suffic "lux" or "luxe" to try and convince the masses that they were genuinly basking in luxury during the school run

If these headphones beat Sennheiser HD 800 S terms of sound quality they are worth it. There are no wireless headphones that offer accurate mid, bass and treble response.
I can't see that happening. HD800 might not be 'accurate', but there is no way a closed headphone can replicate the soundstage and detail of such a shockingly open pair, fed through a solid DAC/amp, in balanced mode. We don't even know if the Airpod Max has a truly passive mode, or whether everything has to be fed through its own internal amp.
Apple will certainly have a lot of software trickery up its sleeve and I am not necessarily saying that the Airpod Max will sound 'bad', but the idea that H1 chip processing and similar can replicate and better the HD800 is most likely wishful thinking.

You could almost buy a good iPad with that.... WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.... I'll stick to my wired, ancient. and over-the-ear headphones. Someone tell Apple that this is way out of line.

These are high-end premium headphones and $550 is actually a low price in this market segment. I am confident AirPods Max will deliver immersive sound experiences of the like we've never heard before.

Apple has been working to build this product for years. I expect nothing less than perfection. I cannot wait to try mine the moment they are delivered.
