"Audible range" would probably refer to the 20-20,000 Hz that's perceivable by the human ear, not higher bitrates or sample rates. Given that Apple Music and the iTunes Store don't offer any higher bitrates, it's unlikely that these are compatible with them. As far as I know, the H1 only supports the AAC codec and even aptX is capped at a 48 KHz bitrate. Bluetooth has limitations as far as "hi-res" audio goes.
No mention of a new H2 chip huh?

$780 in Canada + tax = $881. Same price as an iPad Air here. A ha ha ha ha ha ha!

What are they smoking. I want some. 😂

$881 pffft is that all, how about $899 over here in Australia. 😂

Exactly right. Anyone who has any experience with the audiophile world knows this price is about right for feature-heavy consumer-grade wireless headphones. They're not for me (give me audiophile-grade wired headphones with no noise-canceling) but there's nothing wrong with the price given what they are.
I should edit to say my first impression was wondering what Apple was smoking. But the more I think about it, it all depends on sound quality. Yes Apple products are more expensive but not crazy overpriced. If these headphones really weren’t any better than Sony’s $279 wireless Apple wouldn’t be charging $550, they’d be charging maybe $350. What I don’t understand is why Apple wouldn’t have had reviews ready at launch. The price would be easier to swallow if there were positive reviews talking about amazing sound quality.

Most Users complain about the price tag, while I agree with them it's not my biggest turn-off....

...It's Fugly, by far the ugliest product Apple created in a long while.

Would have liked, but too expensive when my current headphones are still very decent.

Plus I haven't seen a way to wire them in. I need that to play on my e-drum.

AUD$899 is very expensive and at the upper end of most over ear headphones.

I’m sure they sound good but will they be AUD$400-500 better than Bose or Sony? Need to see reviews before dropping that kind of money on a set of headphones.

That sky blue looks sexy af though.

A few random thoughts:

1. These will be a theft magnet - you’d need to be careful where you wore these in public
2 £550 puts them way above their competitors in terms of price - the folks who currently spend that kind of money on headphones are audiophiles - and these won’t be audiophile headphones.
3. Apple marketing must have determined that a significant number of people who don’t currently spend that kind of money on headphones will be willing to do so on there.

So you can't do wired listening on a iPhone but can on basically any other branded phone with a USB-C port!?! 🤣

While I have no opinion yet on the AirPod Max, most of the other headphones in the bracket you describe (which I would assume includes XM4, PX7 etc) are substantially cheaper - closer to £350 compared to £550.

LOL at that price and missing basic functions like touch pads that every other less expensive headphones have. Pathetic.
That Digital Crown looks ugly af on them. They should know better. Ive must have helped them with this abomination

I'm sure they sound great! Unfortunately, Apple priced me out of their market long ago.

Sad, really. I did enjoy having the latest-and-greatest innovative tech from Apple when I was able to afford it.
