Apple plans to use $2.5 billion of the AMP funding to expand its partnership with Corning. Corning and Apple are working together to create the "world's largest and most advanced smartphone class production line" in Corning's Kentucky factory. Apple says that 100 percent of the cover glass on iPhone and Apple Watch models sold worldwide will be made in the U.S. "soon." Apple and Corning are also going to open an "Apple-Corning Innovation Center" that will develop advanced materials and next-generation manufacturing platforms.
What is a smartphone class production line? :p

"Today, we're proud to increase our investments across the United States to $600 billion over four years and launch our new American Manufacturing Program," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "This includes new and expanded work with 10 companies across America. They produce components that are used in Apple products sold all over the world, and we're grateful to the President for his support."

Did Trump write that post for Tim? I honestly can’t tell.

Gamer Nexus on Youtube has a breakdown on why PC manufacturing not going to happen in the US. It would take billions in investment from the US government and 8 years just to be able to build a motherboard here. By then more of the manufacturing will be automated.
What made sense was getting the CPUs built here for security reasons and that is what the CHIPS act aimed to do.

Tim Cook is clever, I guess, and just trying to protect the company, but if he was still alive, Steve Jobs would sooner have run for President of the USA (on the Democratic ticket, of course) than make these sort of lip-service concessions to the Dumb-Americans’ mad king.

Imagine being conditioned to the point that something positive is still complained about and looked at negatively. It’s small, but it’s something. Tell that to the people in Kentucky that will be happy for the jobs to support their families and local economy.

Tell the people in Kentucky how happy they are now that Canada stopped buying their bourbon. I can tell you they are not happy and many have CLOSED directly because of these tariffs. I’m sure this never to get opened factory will love to employ these folks!

MAGA folks losing their jobs and health benefits have been smiling

I hope that when a sane person gets back in office he or she overturns every single thing Trump changed

Unfortunately it's a felon that controls literally everything, showing how full of holes/weak the American constitution is. And he could easily hunt down Apple in a desperate attempt to make his sheep look the other way away from the Epstein files.
If you truly think the Constitution has been weakened, you can thank decades, if not a century of trying to centralize power in the federal government, in particular in the executive branch over the last couple of decades. One side in particular thinks this is how things should be and has been bastardizing the Constitution along the way. Don't like the way the game is played today? How do you think it got that way?
