The outrage in these threads is great comedy.
Marco Arment thinks Tim Cook is an overt Trump supporter. I don’t think so. But k think he’ll do whatever necessary to keep Apple exempt from most tariffs. I think it’s gross but does he have any other choice? He looks like he’d rather be anywhere else.

I wish Tim were somewhere else, too. We need US-oriented leaders in our companies that won't sell citizens out to save a few bucks.

An excellent summary

Yep. I voted against Trump all 3 times, but some of these comments are so disheartening and just downright filled with hate. I dislike the man, but not to the point where I am wiling to bite off my nose to spite my face. It's like the meme where the dude is shoving the stick in his own bike spokes as he rides. I can be against a lot of things he does and still be happy when news like this hits.

This is getting up here with “but Hitler liked animals”.

We either have a moral compass in life, or we do not.

It’s not conditional in the way you’re laying out.

Your comment is so ridiculous but its 2025 so I guess I should have expected it. I don't like Trump. If Trump saves a puppy, I am happy the puppy is saved, but I still don't like Trump. I think Hitler is the most evil person to have walked the Earth. But again if he saved a puppy, I am happy that puppy was saved.. I still think Hitler is evil, puppy saved or not.

I don't know what to say other than.. the world isn't black and white. Things that help you can come from people you don't like or will never like. Going on an everything or nothing attack.. is only hurting yourself and the things you care about.

All these things are common sense and logical, but logic sometimes gets thrown out the window when people let hatred take over their brain.. much like Hitler did. I see people that let this happen to them as closer to Hitler than the average 90% of the voting public that voted either way. I don't hate my fellow Americans, but a select few on both sides seem to only have hate in them and both accuse each other of this hate. Pots calling the kettle and all that...

I wonder how much Cook dithered over that cheerful-looking exclamation mark. I hope he regrets it. I wonder whether the latter four knowingly made the error of addressing former president and president-elect Trump as “President Trump”. Our nation only has one president at a time, and that president remains Joe Biden. I wonder how much it stings to be reminded that all the money in the world cannot buy dignity. I wonder too, what taste Cheetos-dusted 78-year-old testicles leave in one’s mouth. Whatever the flavor, I hope it lingers.

Not really because all of those vendors are in for a shock when this commitment never materializes as soon as Trump is gone or goes into another tariff tailspin negotiation spree creating more unnecessary disruption.
That’s the sad part about what this country has become. We no longer invest in each other, only our selves. We would rather the phones be built in another country so we can have a new phone every year and it’s easier on our pockets.

Um, next year's midterm election? I don't think so. The Dems have proven themselves to be totally incompetent thus far in handling Trump 2.0, so I don't see it changing until the next presidential cycle.
Well, I guess that's how the empire crumbles…

Wait, did you really think Americans are ..smart ? lol
Yeah, you’re probably right but you’d have to ignore the fact that Americans gave us computing, the internet, the combustable engine, radio, film, telephones, helicopters, flight in general, the polio vaccine and 10,000 other cures, nuclear power, automobiles, HVAC, modern finance and the damned Dewey decimal system ….. just off the top of my head. Oh, and America saved the world from communist domination and pulled Europe's ass out of the frying pan twice at tremendous cost in blood and treasure. Also, without question, America is the most generous nation on earth. Actually, if you think about it in a non-biased and clear headed way, America is actually pretty smart, brave and generous.

Looks like someone got triggered…

Ok well.. America, the land where every invention ever just magically popped out of a cheeseburger wrapper. Flight? America. Internet? America. Cures for diseases? Definitely not the global scientific community, just pure, unfiltered American genius. I mean, forget the rest of the planet’s contributions.. if it didn’t happen between Walmart and a Waffle House, it doesn’t count, right?

Let’s unpack this myth of American exceptionalism with the tiniest pinch of reality.

The combustion engine? German. The telephone? Invented by a Scottish guy who moved to America. Computing? Ask Alan Turing..uhh.. British. Nuclear power? A team effort, led by European scientists, many of them fleeing from the chaos America eventually showed up late to stop. The internet? Born in global research labs, not just in someone’s garage in Ohio. But hey, if Americans used it first, that’s basically the same as inventing it, right?

Now onto the “America saved the world” routine. The U.S. entered both World Wars late, after a whole lot of other countries were already on fire. In WWII, the Soviet Union took the worst of the casualties… but sure, let’s pretend the U.S. parachuted in like Captain America while everyone else was just helplessly flailing. History books must be really short in some places.

And the average American? Absolute intellectual powerhouse (lol) if we’re grading on a curve set by a reality TV show. This is a country where millions think the sun revolves around the Earth, can’t name a single branch of government, and believe vaccines are a government tracking system.. all while claiming they “did their own research” on Facebook. But yes, definitely a nation of scholars.

As for being “the most generous nation on Earth”? Only if generosity includes bombing countries, installing dictators, and calling it “freedom.” Sure, the U.S. gives foreign aid, mostly when it aligns with its interests. And it gives less per capita than plenty of smaller nations. But hey, if you throw pennies at problems after causing half of them, that’s charity, right?

Look ..America has done some incredible things. But let’s not confuse national pride with historical amnesia. The world is a group project, not a solo act. And if America wants to keep its “we’re the smartest and the best” crown, it might want to start by getting its own citizens to pass a basic geography quiz… or, I don’t know, stop eating laundry detergent for TikTok views.

Interesting question. When Apple throws out numbers like $600B where is it coming from? Those are PR press releases. It’s not like we get an itemized list of what was spent or that it’s audited any way.

Yet, here you are on an American based forum based on products from the United States 🤦‍♂️

You’re welcome to join an Ericsson and Nokia forum to talk about how great they are. Oh, wait…they couldn’t compete and have been reduced to, essentially, a mere shadow of their former selves 👏

From your European high horse, do please to continue lecturing us. The world can’t exist without the trademark snobbery and elitism.

And he thinks we’re gonna love it
We will love it.
And the second Trump is out… this American Manufacturing Program will come to an end.
I kind of doubt that. The country is actually changing. For at least 20 years now, people who love America were afraid to say so. But now they are not. That's not just a groundswell, it's a movement of a mountain, and it should not be underestimated.
I hope that when a sane person gets back in office he or she overturns every single thing Trump changed
This actually IS sane. What wasn't sane was allowing 20 million people invade our country and crush our financial, health, and public service institutions. That insanity has stopped, and many are going back to their country of origin. And right there, that alone will afford the President a lot of goodwill once some of our institutions can go back to taking care of American citizens.

And that is the sane thing.
Unfortunately it's a felon that controls literally everything, showing how full of holes/weak the American constitution is. And he could easily hunt down Apple in a desperate attempt to make his sheep look the other way away from the Epstein files.
You keep going back to the "felon" thing, as if you think it will have some magical or hypnotic effect on the rest of the country. Most people now see that as a weaponization of the country's entire system of laws. A weaponization that COULD be turned on a citizen, like you or me.

As for "The Epstein Files", Epstein's own attorney has said that Epstein never kept a list, diary, or "little black book".

If Trump had ever had anything to do with Epstein and Epstein's crimes, surely the democrats would have used it by now. After all, they had control of "The Epstein Files" for 4 years while Joe Biden was President. Right? If it existed, I have no doubt that Biden's people would have paraded it out on CNN during the 2020 election season. And the Biden-then-Harris people would have used it AGAIN during the 2024 campaign.

But they didn't. Instead, they keep going back to their worn out "felon", "racist", "dictator", and "nazi" accusations.

It's all just bluffing. They have nothing from "the Epstein files" that would implicate President Trump. You can believe whatever you like. But just know that continuing to call him a "felon" isn't having the effect you think and hope it does. And the things they tried to do to that man...well, I sure hope some powerful politician doesn't try to do similar things one day to you or me.

You have an amazing way of coping with rolling around in absolute garbage and I’m here for it. I love this for you! Please keep posting, it’s honestly making my night reading this lmfao.

When Trump’s term ends (we hope) or his Cheeto dust face fades into the ether — Apple will 100% not want us to pay 3 grand for an iPhone that we could pay $1,000 for and sell a whole lot more, immediately.

Please remember how much of what you are touting is due to American immigrants, as well as enabled by public funding of absolutely key initiatives and projects, along with many resources from the entire world.

I would also add that our generosity has been reciprocated many times over in a myriad of ways.

The real story, that shouldn’t be lost, is that freely trading information and resources is what fuels prosperity for all.

Isolationist practices are not the way.
