If a device is 50m resistant, I'd call that waterproof tbh. Most water resistant watches break inside swimming pools. The ones that don't are always called waterproof.

That's my point. It has to be waterproof and with some small pressure resistance. 50m is not a big deal.
That said, water resistant only makes this thing a waste IMO.
I have my Omega on at all times doing all sorts of water activities without even thinking about it.
I hope the the fact is charged the way it is means is waterproof. Also, not sure if you must have an iPhone next to you at all times. That will be a joke, so I can't use this to swim in the ocean. :D

DOA.

I think Apple missed the mark this time. iWatch is ugly and tacky. Very unApple.

I was expecting good design. iPhone 6 on the other hand looks good but 16GB of storage standard is a no go for me.

Waiting on the new Nexus but I might settle for a One+

where's your market research data that says most people aren't interested in health and fitness tracking? specifically?

I could come back with some witty phrase, but that is actually a good question. The answer is that I have none.

I stand behind my comment though. At least in reference to the US. I covered myself in my comment as well: Apple will get a few people to all of a sudden start worrying about health. I belive this to be a true statement.

And don't forget that the iPhone you must carry with you on your run will now be BIGGER.

Did they say that? I would think that it should be able to capture data independent of the iPhone and deliver it when the iPhone link is restored.

Can I quote you on this 6 months from now?

It's as ugly as the new Mac Pro, new OSX Yosemite, and the new iPhone. What's next? An uglified iPad?

If it was waterproof I'm sure they would have mentioned it somewhere. I wouldn't put my hopes up and you need the phone with you for this to work so forget about surfing.

I'm pissed that I can't just go jogging with only this. So the only activity where I can use this seems to be cycling.

What do you mean not as customizable? its more customizable that the apple watch. and comes with more watch faces right out of the gate and you can customize the watch faces too.

Moto X destroys the Apple Watch in every way possible.
Design. Material Quality. Simplistic but in interface.
better OS, Functionality and finally Google Now completely destroys it.

I mean look at this then look at apple disgrace of a watch. its night and day.

Are you fracking serious, material quality??? Moto's material quality is abysmal compare to this. This thing is probably 10 times more durable... Good grief.

The A8 creams single core speed of the X, the one most people care about, not sure what the hell your talking about.

It's not as revolutionary as the iPhone or iPad, that's for sure - but it looks like the best wearable on the market, though I think that says more about the market than the Apple Watch...

Errr, hello, have you not seen the Moto 360, the LG or the curved Samsung. In what possible way does this look like the best wearable on the market??? (and the most expensive to boot!)

no talk about battery life, huh?

Actually they did, just very subtly. They kept using the phrase "all day" which suggests it's a 12hour device. I guess they didn't want to come out and say it as they knew the media would destroy them as it happened to the Gear.

Note in particular the part where Tim Cook talks a little more in detail about the charging mechanism. It was his way of kinda saying "yes you're going to need to charge it a lot but it's super easy to do".

But seriously the UI looks so not like Apple. It didn't seem intuitive, it seemed clunky, it seemed very confusing. Did anyone actually get how we are supposed to use this device from that presentation?

I agree. Software-wise this is very messy and far too complex. They needed to keep it much more simple and de-couple it from an iPhone, then they've have a serious product.

History repeats. Kind of.

They did a bad job explaining and clarifying. I understand the keynote time is imperative but on the website they should have all the info.

These comments are lol

It doesn't matter what :apple: would have pulled out their butt today, many would complain about it here. I, for one, will welcome the smaller size watch and a nice iPhone 6+ for my purse. It seems leaps and bounds ahead of Samsung's offering and they actually made a watch sized for women too :)

Best UI by far?

I bet at some point, exactly like they did with the iPhone, they'll announce the next gen "phone-free" Watch. But the UI needs more work.

The comment was made that you "need to have an iPhone" (not exact) for it to work when the software demo started, but it was a quick mention with no clear explanation. Whether that means for the more advanced functionality (which was obviously going to be true) or for any functionality at all beyond telling the time was not established.

The build quality alone makes it the best. This is looks built like a tank. A bit thick, but they are all seemingly thick.

I was hoping to have something that might help me replace my iPhone for taking on walks.

But this thing has no earphone jack.

So I'm not interested. 6th Gen iPod Nano for me.

remove the apple logo :apple: on this and i'd be willing to bet everyone will say it's ugly. because it's apple, some will give it a passing grade.
