They did a bad job explaining and clarifying. I understand the keynote time is imperative but on the website they should have all the info.
Care to link one? I have been looking for one for over a year, couldn't find any waterproof ones to use in the pool.

nope
Right.. .I'm betting this thing has a processor 100 times better than this kickstarter crap and 20 times the build quality, but hey, who needs that...
The comment was made that you "need to have an iPhone" (not exact) for it to work when the software demo started, but it was a quick mention with no clear explanation. Whether that means for the more advanced functionality (which was obviously going to be true) or for any functionality at all beyond telling the time was not established.
I have been using my Gear Fit (the small Samsung one) since it came to market and shower with it every day. I have also done quite a bit of swimming this summer without taking it off - no problems at all. No serious diving though - it is only rated to 1 meter below the water I think.
So was the iPhone UI when it was released, but it was not confusing. It was crystal clear from the first demo. So this is not an excuse.
And don't forget that the iPhone you must carry with you on your run will now be BIGGER.

The problem with the iPhone is that people keep them in their pockets much of the time, with a watch it is on display on their wrist for all to see.
Actually they did, just very subtly. They kept using the phrase "all day" which suggests it's a 12hour device. I guess they didn't want to come out and say it as they knew the media would destroy them as it happened to the Gear.
Note in particular the part where Tim Cook talks a little more in detail about the charging mechanism. It was his way of kinda saying "yes you're going to need to charge it a lot but it's super easy to do".
The build quality alone makes it the best. This is looks built like a tank. A bit thick, but they are all seemingly thick.
Two words: MOTO 360!
For your opinion it's confusing, i don't think it was.
Actually, i think it has a lot of an iOS thinking behind it.
A physical Home button, apps on your home screen or springboard, gestures from the bottom of the watch screen, it's all pretty familiar....
It can't be iOS because the screen is too small, i think they did a very good job.

If you're going to talk about build quality, you best take another look at the LG! ... which by the way takes normal 22mm straps, is cheaper and looks a dam site more elegant than this brick on a wrist (before we even start talking about the Moto 360!) I'm sorry, but even die hard Apple fans can't defend this monstrosity (which without the Apple logo, would be burnt at the stake by the media!)
...you've failed to understand what racism is. How is that? His comment had nothing to do with race. He referenced nationality. So what's it like being racist? I would not know, never been one myself but your comment is clearly racist to people outside the USA. I'm curious to know what being a racist feels like.
This really is a big issue.. I'd be fascinated to know more about the "You need an iPhone" bit... I doesn't make sense for the watch to be always near your iPhone. I can maybe understand if it needs to be authorised on your iPhone initially, then it can be taken off on it's own, and then sync back to iPhone when it's back in range... But i'd like to have that confirmed by apple.
