They did a bad job explaining and clarifying. I understand the keynote time is imperative but on the website they should have all the info.

Well the website does not have any technical info, so I bet that many things are subject to change since it's not coming yet. I think that's why they didn't mention battery life either, maybe it may increase or decrease until it hits the shelves.

Wow, so much nerd-rage and negativity here today. Usually I'm the cynic, But I actually like what I've seen of the Apple Watch so far.

And I'm guessing most of the haters in this forum will own one within three months of it being released.

Care to link one? I have been looking for one for over a year, couldn't find any waterproof ones to use in the pool.

Just do a quick search - quite a few out there in the more 'regular' sport watch category.

I have been using my Gear Fit (the small Samsung one) since it came to market and shower with it every day. I have also done quite a bit of swimming this summer without taking it off - no problems at all. No serious diving though - it is only rated to 1 meter below the water I think.

Here it is enjoying itself in a glass filled with cold sparkling water btw:

Very interesting

Nice but I can't afford $349 or should I say I can't justify $349. $199 sure I'll buy. Maybe at $249, but no at $349. I'll wait for version 2.

The comment was made that you "need to have an iPhone" (not exact) for it to work when the software demo started, but it was a quick mention with no clear explanation. Whether that means for the more advanced functionality (which was obviously going to be true) or for any functionality at all beyond telling the time was not established.

True but I doubt with the advanced hardware on board that the watch will just go dark and demand an iPhone pairing if the iPhone drifts too far away.

Showering will be ok since it's resistant but I think it'll just break if I do my daily swimming drills with that one. There are watches for swimmers but none can sense pulse. And I really want a accurate heartrate reading while swimming.

So was the iPhone UI when it was released, but it was not confusing. It was crystal clear from the first demo. So this is not an excuse.

For your opinion it's confusing, i don't think it was.
Actually, i think it has a lot of an iOS thinking behind it.
A physical Home button, apps on your home screen or springboard, gestures from the bottom of the watch screen, it's all pretty familiar....

It can't be iOS because the screen is too small, i think they did a very good job.

And don't forget that the iPhone you must carry with you on your run will now be BIGGER.

This really is a big issue.. I'd be fascinated to know more about the "You need an iPhone" bit... I doesn't make sense for the watch to be always near your iPhone. I can maybe understand if it needs to be authorised on your iPhone initially, then it can be taken off on it's own, and then sync back to iPhone when it's back in range... But i'd like to have that confirmed by apple.

At $349 the ultimate status symbol ... Look at me I have money.

The problem with the iPhone is that people keep them in their pockets much of the time, with a watch it is on display on their wrist for all to see.

If is not cool is not a status symbol. The design is horrible for Apple, it's probably the worst design they have ever done.

Actually they did, just very subtly. They kept using the phrase "all day" which suggests it's a 12hour device. I guess they didn't want to come out and say it as they knew the media would destroy them as it happened to the Gear.

Note in particular the part where Tim Cook talks a little more in detail about the charging mechanism. It was his way of kinda saying "yes you're going to need to charge it a lot but it's super easy to do".

All that usually means... All day. Get up, put it on, use it, charge when you go to sleep. Not sure were you got anything else from that. 12h and All is not the same thing. Of course, if you watch videos continuously on it, it won't last all day, probably a few hours tops.

The build quality alone makes it the best. This is looks built like a tank. A bit thick, but they are all seemingly thick.

If you're going to talk about build quality, you best take another look at the LG! ... which by the way takes normal 22mm straps, is cheaper and looks a dam site more elegant than this brick on a wrist (before we even start talking about the Moto 360!) I'm sorry, but even die hard Apple fans can't defend this monstrosity (which without the Apple logo, would be burnt at the stake by the media!)

Obviously I wasn't expecting iOS, that wouldn't make any sense on a watch but, on iOS we had one way to navigate. Just swipe or pinch. On this one it seems to depend on the app whether we use the screen or the dial. I don't think this'll be an instantly recognisable UI like the iPhone was and it'll take some getting used to.

having an apple watch isn't a status symbol. try AP, hublot, patek, rolex. apple watch is a toy and so is any smartwatch.

Round!!!

This is for all the idiots who say real watches are round. Do yourselves, and us a favor and google " square watch images ".

You seem to have no clue what build quality actually means!! Good grief.

I don't like wearing watches but I will buy the Apple Watch. It looks beautiful and I believe its software is magic.
This is innovation and I am in love again :)

So what's it like being racist? I would not know, never been one myself but your comment is clearly racist to people outside the USA. I'm curious to know what being a racist feels like.
...you've failed to understand what racism is. How is that? His comment had nothing to do with race. He referenced nationality.

So now you get to apologize for falsely accusing someone of being racist.

I don't care about the watch so much as the fact that we don't have to look at any more of those god-awful mockups anymore.

2001 - "the iPod is a complete fail. You have to have a Mac to use it, it's really bulky and you have to use iTunes. Nobody will buy that."

2007 - "the iPhone is crippled from day 1. You have to sync to iTunes! No flash on the camera? No front camera? It can't do video? No 3G. Total fail."

2010 - "I don't see the point of the iPad - what's it for? It's just a big iPod Touch. It'll never sell. No USB port or card slot, can't run a full OS on it. Total fail."

Funny how history repeats. :)

I actually thought they would keep the 4 inches version around. WTF is wrong with Apple? First nobody wants a bigger phone and now they don't even give us the option to have a small one? That's the biggest surprise for me, no 3.5 or 4 inches iPhone 6. Amazing.
