Any bets on how this is going to play out.

1. Preorders start April 10th
2. Preorders sell out within 30 minutes to 1 hour
3. Reviews kiss Apple’s butt and give the watch high praise
4. People get watch and is overjoyed
5. After using the watch for about 1 week people come back down to earth
6. Buyer now decides if watch should be returned within the 2 week return period because they realize that their phones are more efficient
7. Stock replenishes in about 2 months
8. Apple watch is on that slow death march until Tim Cook revels Apple watch 2 this fall to early spring 2016
9. Preorders are stagnant because watch is basically the same
10. No problem getting a watch on release day spring 2016
11. Watch is doomed unless Apple lowers price because the competition will have cheaper better looking options

Just a wild guess.

Enjoy your slice of humble pie in a few months.

With prior releases of Apple products, they usually try to deliver on the date of release. You'll see a ton of FEDEX trucks out along with other delivery vehicles. They deliver later than normal too. So when normally they would deliver to me a max of 5pm...maybe 6pm...kind of pushing it there, they were delivering until 8pm or a little later. That's from my personal experience.
But if I opt to pick up at the store, I can get my gadget at 8AM or so, instead of waiting for Fedex, or worse, UPS who delivers to me at about 7PM.

Should I consider myself "lucky" that I have tiny, and I mean TINY wristst and will probably have to go 38mm ?

That being said, sucks that there is no 38mm leather loop. Kinda wanted that band

Well if you wanted the leather loop, no. If you wanted the Space Grey Sport your mega lucky.

Yes... it really is WILD.

I don't think that it's going to be like you described in the slightest. Will some people not like it and return it? Absolutely. But, this same thing happens with iPhones and other devices. Happens with other manufacturers and their devices, too.

This product should do pretty well, even if it doesn't wind up resonating enough to "stick" as a product category.

Besides, playing with new things is fun.

Hahah yeah fortunately for me I'm after a space grey ! Although I might get a space black stainless steel.

All the best with you getting your 42mm if you are getting one tho man #

Uh, the image on Apple's site says "after 12:01 AM PDT". Is that going to be at 12:02 or 7:30, then?

The most valuable company on the planet who has billions of dollars in cash reserves is apparently not confident enough in their abilities to get the site operational in time for a deadline that has been weeks (or more likely, months) in the making. That's sad.

 Not sure if serious.

Log on next Friday at 12:01:01 and you should be able to place an order. This is the same as for the iPhone.

I think he or she is getting at the idea that the site won't be able to handle the traffic at midnight PDT and will take hours before they're able to place an order.

Here's a full list of pre-order times by country (in local time):

- U.S., Canada: 12:01 a.m. (Pacific Time), 3:01 a.m. (Eastern Time)
- U.K.: 8:01 a.m.
- Germany: 9:01 a.m.
- France: 9:01 a.m.
- Australia: 5:01 p.m.
- Hong Kong: 3:01 p.m.
- China: 3:01 p.m.
- Japan 3:01 p.m.

Interesting that Apple, a US company, decided to begin preorders that this time. The US and Canada are asleep, while almost all the the rest of the world is awake. At first this seemed surprising, but it could make sense: If Apple expect the largest number of preorder from the US, by making it in the middle of the night this moderates the load on their system somewhat.

Also I assume that there are a certain number of watchers per country? ie the US could sell out while there are still many available in Japan?

the sweetest thing is that I get to try it in store first!
Pre-orders start at 5:01pm here in Sydney (AUS).. and the store of course opens several hours earlier, at 9am.. yay!!!

Does anyone what Apple will do in places like Australia where the Apple Stores are open when pre orders begin?
It is my understanding that the Apple Watch will be on display from the 10th of April.

Will I be able to walk in to the Apple Store in Sydney and see the watch at 9am, 8 hours before preorder? In the US and people who preorder first will not have had the opportunity to ever see the Watch in person before they order.

Could Apple closing their stores 2 hours before pre order and then reopen?

Could the Apple Watch not be on display until the 11th in Australia?

Apple need to be really careful with what they are doing with the Apple Watch, they could get into some serious trouble. They have built up such an unprecedented (even for Apple) pre launch release frenzy that there is a real possibility that someone may explode with the excitement.

Apple doesn't make the frenzy people do. Apple just says here's a product..... WE freak out and go crazy. Don't blame apple for we stupid humans.

Gah! Shhhhh

Keep it hush hush so we get our watches! Shhhh
Mum's the word, if anyone asks "they start selling them at noon local time."

Really?

This is your issue, um. Ok. Whatever....

Apple has always done this with their pre-orders. The Apple Watch is no different. It has always been 12:01am Cupertino Time.

Apple have closed their stores in Australia during the day before (I think it was for the iPad 2 launch where they shut at 3pm and then re-opened at 5pm). However with the Apple Watch (or so I have been told by the Sydney Store in George Street) they will be open at 9am on the 10th April and the Apple Watch will be available to view. I guess you can view them but will not be able to pre-order until 5:01pm.

I still think this is just totally, totally bizarre. Instead of putting the in-store preview period for a week or two prior to the pre-order launch, they put the preview period AFTER the pre-orders start, meaning that anyone who needs to figure out what size they need (and I'd guess that's most people) will not be getting a Watch on the 24th.

What Apple is doing with this process is guaranteed to cause a lot of backlash when people who wait for an in-store reservation find out that all the Watch models are sold out and backordered for weeks.

Its the usual "rip off australians" trick. #349US = $457AU. Why does the Australian watch start at $579?!

For god sakes every single apple launch I have this conversation with friends.

1. The US price doesn't include tax

2. In the case of iPhones 199 and 299 are with a 2 year contract (most don't understand this)

3. If you buy it in the US you get no warranty coverage here

4. If you buy it here you get 2 years at least of ACL warranty

Also see below

Price: 457.000
Percent off(%): Percent off 0.00%
Sales Tax(%): 8.75
Savings: Savings 0.0
Tax: 40.0
Total Payment: 497.0

It isn't too bad when you add in US tax. The US$ is ***** right now and it is something we simply have to deal with. On the upside the Euro isn't too bad.

Luck really is on our side my friend!
The stores will get a revamp over night (just like how they did it for the last iPhone), and will display start the try-on with the Watch from the moment they open in the morning (as confirmed by an employee friend of mine). None the less.. you can take your own conclusions, by checking the list of Events and Workshops of any retail store in Australia for example Sydney (George st.): http://www.apple.com/au/retail/sydney/
you will notice that they have absolutely nothing happening on the 10th, (just like on iPhone release dates)

I'll probably camp out Friday morning, just to watch the work being done, and be the first to try it on!!!!
