how about changing it so you can get apple pay offered to you for the full 12 month period after purchase not 2 months ! its disgusting practices like this that give apple a bad rap
Apple is offering one year after the original 2 years (or 3 years for Mac) has expired. It’s per device rather than the monthly subscription model they’re offering here. For my Apple Watch Series 8, it’s $39.99 for the AppleCare warranty continuing with the same as the original 2 year I purchased. It’ll be $14.99 to cover my AirPods Pro 2.

It would be nice to see AppleCare One have a yearly option, but I think since they’ve only started offering it beyond the Mac the last year or two, don’t see it happening (yet).

I'm curious if you can add a non-functional device (that hasn't been inspected by Apple) and then benefit from AC+. Seems like a good setup for that (edge) case

Does anyone know how this works for those of us with family accounts? I have myself, my wife, and my two teenage kids setup as a family, each with their own Apple ID account. The FAQ for AppleCare One is somewhat vague on this point:

So if I subscribe, does this mean I can only add my own devices, or I can add any device from my family members? Does an Apple ID being part of a Apple family mean it is "on the same Apple Account as the subscriber"? It'd be pretty dumb if I wanted to cover my iPhone, my wife's iPhone, and one of my kids iPhone, and they make me pay $60 a month ($20 x 3) versus just $20.

So I guess I could save $2 a month, or if I get another device with applecare+ it would be worth it.

iPad Pro $8.50
MacBook Air $5.40
iPhone 16 Pro $8.29
Total = $22.19

Curious about the same thing having family devices I pay for. My other issue is having two Apple IDs from starting with iTunes and adding iCloud. I have devices on each of those IDs somehow. It's been a pain point for a long time. All I know at the moment is I get billed individually for 5 devices per month and I dont have a great way to price compare since its a PITA to login and look at each of the accounts, not to mention my family devices only show on their logins.

'To verify “good condition,” products may be required to undergo a diagnostic check using a customer’s iPhone or iPad, or at an Apple Store, prior to being added to the plan.'

Has anyone actually successfully subscribed?

Most of my devices are all covered individually except for my AW Ultra.

[Update] Disregard. Says available 7/24 tomorrow.

Great, let’s add this to the never ending pile of things available in the US only.
The legal side is something very few of us grasp. In US for example, extended warranties have addendums based on what state you live in. Expand that to all the countries Apple does business in, local repair options and other requirements. Not workable so sorry...

No one seems to be talking about the largest benefit to this new insurance policy. It really incentivizes Apple to make their products as durable as possible to avoid losing money on claims!
I doubt that will happen. Instead, the odds are probably 1 out of 10 subscribers will actually use it, that leaves 9 subscriptions being pure profit.

Apple renamed "Apple ID" to "Apple Account" last year. So the plan is per Apple ID.

When you buy an Apple pencil, keyboard, when a buying iPad it's already covered Apple+ as a set. Are those included in the 3 items? Or do they as the apple see protection as it is now?

You can migrate purchases (apps, media) between Apple IDs (https://support.apple.com/en-us/117267) and then consolidate your devices to a single Apple ID. You probably can't do anything about existing AppleCare subscriptions on different accounts.

AppleCare One plans can cover devices that are on the same Apple Account as the subscriber.

I'm really bummed that Apple didn't come up with a family version of this. I was just thinking the other day, when I realized my kid's iPad had a smashed screen and AppleCare had just expired on it...I have no visibility into any devices warranty status outside of my own in my family without manually checking each device.

There should be a warranty dashboard when there is a family setup in iCloud that pulls in all of this information. And a way to have a family wide warranty plan.
