In 21 years of Apple device and Mac ownership I’ve never once paid for AC. For the confused, not boasting just stating a fact.
Never had kids that had iphones? my applecare+ has paid for itself time and time again beginning with iphone 3g and the many computers/tablets/watches that have been used since.

Same here. Since 2010 I have been the owner of multiple iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, AirPods, and a HomePod mini. I have never needed to service or replace a damaged product.

I can see this plan being worthwhile for families or very accident-prone people, though.

I paid $179/24 = $7.50 for one device alone and this doesn't even cover theft/loss. But with theft and loss its $4.99/mo so $5*24 = $120?

In a weird way, I'm kind of happy I can't get this. Because to be able to, I'd have to live in the US.

So... Unless I'm missing something, I can sign up for $20 whenever I need a battery replacement on one of my Apple devices, then cancel "any time"? If so that's actually a pretty sweet deal 😁

I'm probably missing something, but I’m interested in this and have a question. I'm about half way through my two-year AppleCare coverage with my MacBook and iPad Pro. But, my iPhone and Apple Watch are no longer covered. Can I subscribe to this and have all 4 of my devices covered under this new AppleCare One plan? Do they credit me back the remaining time I have with my MacBook and iPad?

I suppose I can probably just wait until it releases tomorrow and it'll probably be clearer to me.

Can anyone help me understand this a bit better? I’ve gone through the Q&A and I’m still lost.

1. How does this work for families? I know it says devices must be on the same Apple Account as the subscriber, but what does that ACTUALLY mean? As the subscriber to an Apple account and 3 kid’s iPhones on AppleCare+, I can’t see their subscriptions. Can I not just move paying for their subscription to my Apple Account? Or must the device be registered on my account?

2. I currently pay $3.99 a month for my Series 7 to be insured. The website now says starting at $2.99 a month. Is that price just for the SE? If not, can I just move to the new plan and get the discount?

3. Why would I ever use AppleCare One? My iPhone is $10 a month to insure. My watch is likely going to be $3. If I insure my 3 year old, base spec M1 MacBook Pro under this new policy, it would only be $3.50 a month according to the website. That’s $16.50 a month - why would I ever pay $20? And why would I ever add another device for $6/month??

Very confused. This seems very prosumer for some users, but also very Cash-Grabby for those of us who don’t have a second iPhone, Vision Pro, or iPad.

Ok....

I see Tim read my Email sent 20th Sep 2024... he even went with my suggested cost for 3 products...:)

Although not for the UK.... yet

The legal side is something very few of us grasp. In US for example, extended warranties have addendums based on what state you live in. Expand that to all the countries Apple does business in, local repair options and other requirements. Not workable so sorry...

This is at least an argument based on facts not opinion so thanks for that. But we’re talking about a company that has more workforce, more money, more everything than some countries. So I’m encline to think that they could, they just didn’t bother.

This makes no sense. It would be crazy if they didn’t want to offer this in other countries. US first, sure, but US only? Why not just sell the iPhone in the US? Uh, because it’s a US.company! Of course!
Maybe they will offer it to other countries, maybe they won't. It's their choice.

No one cares about insurance until you need it. I always got AC, except one time when I decided I didn’t need it for a stainless steel Apple Watch. Of course, one day it fell off a counter, hit the bathroom floor and the screen was cracked as well as popped off. Had to replace that one out of pocket. Lesson learned.

Theft and loss for a professional business traveler is also a very good thing to have for your daily driver.

You can migrate purchases (apps, media) between Apple IDs (https://support.apple.com/en-us/117267) and then consolidate your devices to a single Apple ID. You probably can't do anything about existing AppleCare subscriptions on different accounts.
This is probably the answer and I have tried before. So, what I did and it may fail, is I asked them to cancel the subscriptions. If it works out, I will add all to the One subscription making it easier to manage long term. If it does not work, thats fine. My Phone and Watch for example are 2 and 3 years old anyhow. Once it's time for replacement I will address it then. Thanks for the suggestion.

None of this makes sense for average users. Everything is cheaper to add à la carte, unless you own a Vision Pro or 2+ iPhones on the same Apple Account.

I’m glad to see them expanding Theft + Loss to Watch and iPad, but this AppleCare One bundle feels like it loses most people more money than it saves them. They should’ve made this work better with Family plans.

Since these are tied to the same account, I feel there's only certain product combinations that make this worth it. They show the HomePod mini and Apple TV, but why am I going to (basically) pay $6-7/mo to cover my $100-$150 device? Or my home which has a dozen or so HomePod minis, I don't want to spend $80/mo to have them all covered. They really need a better "unlimited" plan, even if it's device category specific - like a Smart Home plan that covers all HomePods and Apple TVs.
