In 21 years of Apple device and Mac ownership I’ve never once paid for AC. For the confused, not boasting just stating a fact.
I used to in the early days of Apple Care.... when it was a reasonable cost and only added a relatively small amount on the cost price of the phone.

However its costs have spiralled upwards making it far too expensive.

I never had to use the plan, stopped buying it years ago, and never have an issue as I take good care of my expensive electronic devices anyway.

I don't mind subscriptions, as long as they don't come with contracts or fulfill dates.
Good point. "Cancel anytime" subscriptions aren't as bad.

If you put me on the spot to ask how many subscriptions I currently have, I would need a few minutes to give you a reasonably accurate number. I guess I have subsciription fatigue as I mentioned in another reply.

  1. Devices must be less than four years old, and headphones must be less than one year old. Only devices in the customer’s Apple Account can be covered under AppleCare One.
My questions are:
  • What about something that is older than four years but currently has AppleCare+? I have a 2020 MacBook Pro that I'm about to send in for repair on AppleCare+. I can continue to renew that if I keep it on AppleCare+, but I can't add it to this?
  • Does this mean I can't cover my family's devices? I currently pay for AppleCare+ for my wife and daughter's iPhones, Apple Watch, iPad. However, they are signed into their Apple accounts on the devices, not me. But they are part of my family plan.

Yeah, at this point, the EU has basically drafted a plan informing companies what NOT to release in the region. To think that companies are not going to follow that plan is silly. That’s why the Apple Vision Pro is only offered in two countries, because the DMA kicks in when it’s 3 or more.

They are a little late to the party. As someone who always purchased AC for the peace of mind, I moved immediately to a Best Buy total membership since it includes AC at no extra cost, even when the product is on sale. That’s hard to beat.

Is this actually a good deal?

Depends on what devices you cover. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and an Apple Vision Pro (yep, I’m one of the few people that bought one); for me it looks like I could cover all three and actually make money (I know, not really).

AVP coverage, which I foolishly missed out on, is $24.99/month, and I’d actually pay LESS for it and cover my iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra at the same time.

Funnily enough, I was under the impression that the high prices we pay for Apple products are because they are well designed and manufactured, making the need for repairs minimal. Paying the Apple premium for the device and then paying a rather hefty subscription every month on top of that is nuts. Not for me.
