From what I’ve been told, and what Apple alludes to on their website under the Q&A, no. It seems the devices will need to be signed into the same Apple Account, not just apart of the same family. But, if your family shares devices on the same Apple Account (ie, you and your wife share an iPad and Mac signed into your Apple Account/ID), then you could bundle those together. But not your wife’s phone and personal devices.

It feels like an incredible oversight. I’d even be happy if they made the ones shared by a family $25/month and lowered the savings a bit. Or increased the additional device costs. I’m not sure why they didn’t roll it out with that.

To me it seems this is fine for Macs where I can be signed in as the admin on various Macs and each used by wife, and kids, but wouldn't work for her phone or iPad or their watches. Of course we pretty much self insure everything except a tricked out Mac or AVP.

Curious too. I canceled my plans today, they suggested I may not be able to restore them, but I said let’s go. Worst case I have to be carful until my next upgrade. Best case, the plan works. As soon as the cancel completed, I have a message in settings telling me I have 45 days to add AppleCare. The new plan also says anything 4 years or newer should be covered other than AirPods which are a year. IDK, I will find out tomorrow. If I fail it’s ok. I do not have Vision Pro but i have iPhone, iPad, and Watch that I am going to test. My other devices are family devices that for now are not included in this deal. My other devices I dont care to cover, like this iPad Pro that stays home all the time.
When you enroll a device with an existing AppleCare plan onto AppleCare One, it appears they'll cancel the monthly/annual/fixed term AppleCare on the device and send a refund.

I'd be concerned that if I had any lapse in coverage on a device older than four years (or a year on headphones), that I wouldn't be able to re-enroll. Also, if I enrolled a device without a current AppleCare subscription, I'd assume they'd have to do diagnostics or inspection. They do have a grace periods when coverage lapses under some circumstances, like fixed term AppleCare..

How do I buy AppleCare?

You can start an AppleCare+ or AppleCare One plan when buying a new product with Apple in person, online, or through the Apple Store app. For 60 days after a new Apple purchase, you can get a new plan through the Settings app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. You can also upgrade to an AppleCare One plan if you have an active AppleCare+ plan. When you switch plans, we’ll automatically cancel your current one and refund any amount owed.

We need Apple to give us $1 iCloud Storage plan based on our device storage amount. So a 1TB iPhone for $1 iCloud as long as you still own the device by being logged in iCloud on it.
I’d just like something less than a $30 jump adding storage to my family storage. I’ve already rolled the kids off, but I’m right at the 2TB point on my own. The kids only use the music, told them I’m not paying for music if I have to jump to 6TB.

I need to spreadsheet this. 🤣

Same here. Since 2010 I have been the owner of multiple iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, AirPods, and a HomePod mini. I have never needed to service or replace a damaged product.

I can see this plan being worthwhile for families or very accident-prone people, though.
It takes one lemon for you to regret that. I used my Apple Care on a 17” MBP and a 15”, and they were defects not broken. The only broken device we’ve had in all our gazillion years is the m1 air that I didn’t see something on the keyboard and it cracked the screen. $800…. I use it with an external.

In my daughter’s case her front camera on her iPhone 14 quit working, but still works for face id (which they found weird). Apple was like that will be $800 because she missed signing up for Apple care on it. It’s too bad she had it looked at, she could have added this and got it replaced.ugh. I was hoping she’d just buy a new phone - I get her old ones. lol Rocking her old iPhone 12 Pro with AC currently.

Rumor planned obsolescence buy xtra insurance now!
Does this mean they are going to cheapen their products now?

Agree with others here. Apple should come out with a family plan that would allow -for example- a family that shares an AppleOne account to pay additional to have the same five family members on the AppleCare One plan. I’d pay $40-50/mo for that. Let’s hear it for the family plan!

This would’ve be an instant yes for me, if I could’ve covered my kids iPads, along with my Apple devices but I can’t so, I’ll just keep the AppleCare+ I have on my devices currently.

Can see many subscribing to this service and this will easily bring in a lot of money for Apple. Services will continue to be a big part of Apple's revenue. Waiting for this to be available in other countries too.

I have AppleCare+ on three of my most expensive Apple devices. Works out to about £19 a month (two of mine are renewed yearly, the other monthly). Will be interested if it comes to the UK and if the UK price betters that.

Remember, the price is setup for Apple to make money in the long run.

I haven’t been to the Genius Bar in over decade.

I also haven’t had accidental damage in over decade, and the 1 time it did happen was because the strap on the Incase bag I had at the time failed. I haven’t made that same mistake twice.

I could see this being useful for some folks like some of my relatives who crack their new iPhone screens within 10 minutes of opening the box.

For me, I’d be better off put $20 into another savings account.

Never really understood Apple Care+. You sill have to pay (quite some amount) to fix your device with Apple Care+. You lose access to your device for some time.
It's the opposite, if you don't have AC+ then you have to hand it in for repair. My AC+ cases went like this: Device didn't function correctly, requested an express replacement in the support app, replacement arrived the next day. With AC+ the express replacement service is included and can be used at no further cost. Apple only charges you if you damage the device. I have never damaged anything as I take good care of things.

From the Apple site:

Can I add my family’s devices to my AppleCare One plan?

AppleCare One plans can cover devices that are on the same Apple Account as the subscriber.

So my spouse can’t enroll in this to cover 3 of their devices because Apple One is on my account?
That seems odd. Or am I reading this wrong?

Then I would say keep your existing plan and if this new plan works, move and let it handle the details. I still think it will all work out but looking at what you shared, I think the better option is to wait and setup the plan. Thanks for the info.

In Australia so can’t get it, but hope they bring it here. We’d save a bit per a month bundling the family’s AppleCare plans onto this. At a straight currency conversion, this is priced roughly what it cost me to cover my 15 Pro Max and 16” MBP, so cheap to add the additional devices we have.

I think I'll subscribe to this, I've already bought AC+ for my MBP since it has nanotexture + 48GB RAM and replacing it would cost a solid $3000.

For basically the same price, I can also cover my AVP and maybe iPad or AirPods.

I've only used AC twice, and missed out once for my laptop. Once for an iPhone screen years ago, once for destroyed airpods (my dog got ahold of the case) and most recently without apple care I dropped my M1 MBP onto a concrete floor and shattered the screen and bent the chassis. That was the one that had me buying AC+ for my M4 MBP replacement.

So basically the coverage would be primarily for the laptop and AVP, the AVP is the most fragile feeling & precarious handling Apple product I've ever used, it is like every part was designed to be difficult to hold and move around. Though maybe it is built that way so that you are less likely to drop it because you are constantly thinking about how to place it down on surfaces/pick it back up.

My wife lost her Apple Watch 10 right after Christmas 2024.. Is there anyway I can add this lost device to the plan, and file a claim?
If it has not had coverage in a while, you will need the watch to run the diagnostics to add it. I dont think it will work out.

I don’t use AppleCare, but it would be nice for Apple to just do a la carte and combine both One services. Just choose what four or five you want.

It's available now but I cannot figure out how to setup with my iTunes account versus iCloud account so that it's listed with all of my other subscriptions. I dont have subscriptions on iCloud. Maybe it does not matter.

I just signed up for it. What is surge protection in relation to AppleCare? 😂
