ditching a product line you’ve had for years when 90% of your products depend on it is not a 2003 issue - it’s a very present one.

especially when you’re pushing new services that depend on wireless networks.
It's not like there isn't any substitutes in the wireless networking space.

Gaahhhh. Question I wonder is always walked around so closely. It’s driving me nuts. 5G is obvious. If they didn’t role out 5G they’d be really behind. I’ve heard too much about it and other products that will absolutely require it. FYI when your phone says 5GE, that is by no means actual 5G. Actual 5G requires a part that Isn’t in any phones that are currently in use. Not only will it have 5G (which does not at all fit in the 2G, 3G, 4G incrementing system... more like 15G... different internet), that aspect will make all phone currently out pretty worthless. The strength of 5G could facilitate a real-time 360 environment which Apple has suggested their glasses will ‘let you look at whatever you’re looking at and immediately transport to anywhere in the world.’ Are they talking about using maps or Google maps with AR glasses? Doubt it. I think they are talking real-time 360 video. And I think one way to work toward this is treating the filming of 360 video like mining for crypto. The beauty of 360 is you don’t have to watch what’s being filmed or aim. Maybe they are unrolling a 360 camera... which is my only real hope for the 12 and maybe (even less likely) they will encourage sharing 360 video when you’re not using your phone to make money like you do when you mine for crypto... stretch but who know... if it will have a 360 camera built in? Is that suggested? Am I missing that?

Is there any chance Touch ID makes it into the new iPhones like they did with the new iPad Air? With all of this mask wearing it drives me nuts to have to use a passcode to pay and unlock my phone.

Jump from iPhone 4S to iPhone 5 was a game changer in many ways. When iPhone 4S 1-2Mbps at best speeds suddenly became 10-20Mbps on the iPhone 5, the entire app world came alive. Maps loaded instantly. Insta, FB and all media consumption instantly went from photo to video. Everything moved to the cloud and worked seamlessly across platforms.

What are we expecting from a 5G connection? For your insta feed to load in .5 seconds instead of .75? What bandwidth limitations do we still need to solve for iPhones, that will make us say "wow"?

We need to tone down our 5G expectations, as there will be fewer tangible benefits for smartphone users, especially at launch. Faster processor, better cameras, better display refresh rate would all be more impactful, IMO.

My husband loves his launch day X, but lately it has been slowing down on him and lagging, even with a reset. So for him it’ll be mainly to have a normal functioning device lol. But I also think it’ll be a nice boost overall performance wise. Plus it’s nice to just have a refresh

Yes to all of the above.

Circles obviously a theme here. Looks like an airtag with maybe some sort of simulated waves coming from it.
Also, the circles are strutted in a way, that kind of looks like an eye
Sauron has been resurrected through Apple!

I’d keep my launch day X but I am noticing that the Lighting port is slowly degrading, so I know I’ll need to replace it soon. At this point I’ll likely get a 12 or 11, and get what I can for returning the X before it’s fully broken.

Def hinting at Air Tag (circles floting around scattered and then coming back to center in AR) Then in still image four rings hinting at four iPhones. Blue/Orange color devices.

Didn’t they drop the S label after the 6s? Even though the 8 is essentially a slightly upgraded 7

Two years ago we had the iPhone XS, I purchased one, so apparently not.

----------------------------------------------

I cant believe my XS is almost two years old, it still seems new. Oh wait, it went crazy on me a few months back and got replaced, so it kinda is new? The insurance replacement was the same phone built at the same time but the battery health was 100%. Bizzaire, but I guess it kinda is new-ish. I've purchased new phones every two years like clockwork since the original iPhone but it may be time to switch to every 3 years; especially at these prices.

I may be wrong because i don't have a TV with a preinstalled ATV app, but isn't the TV app just for watching TV. The actual ATV has many apps as well as gaming functions. I personally hate smart TV's because they don't seem to function very smart. They aren't updated as often and seem to have a lag in them.
Yea you can Airplay and it is much faster than the app. The big ? I have is will Fitness+ work through the App on a different SmarTV? We have our ATV 4K in the bedroom and a 58" Sharp RokuTV in the living. It's actually nice except some apps are gimped compared to the ATV ones. I don't want to have to buy a new ATV or move it because Fitness+ won't work on the app outside of ATV hardware.

Yeah and so does Microsoft (even more so) but I don't see them making Wifi routers either. As a person who's had an AirPort Extreme and currently has two Time Capsules I was perfectly fine moving on to getting my Wifi 6 products through Netgear. I would rather Apple focus on what they specialize in which is computing products and I would rather purchase networking products from companies that specialize in it such as Netgear. I've even connected my TimeCapsule to my new NETGEAR WiFi 6 router to use with Time Machine. Works great.
As far as Apple "ditching" their networking products it made sense. You do realize the majority of people buying the Airport and TimeCapsules were Mac customers right? Not enough client base to continue putting R&D into especially now that Apple's customer base extends to the Windows world that for the majority doesn't use Airports or TimeCapsules.

With most TV's including the Apple TV app now, why do you even need a Apple TV box anymore?

He probably doesn't have a TV or other device with the app.

This might shock you but everyone doesn't (or can't afford) to buy a new TV every year and people still have older TV's with great displays that aren't smart TV's or old smart tv's that can't be updated.
