With most TV's including the Apple TV app now, why do you even need a Apple TV box anymore?
The Apple TV app isn’t really comparable to an Apple TV. I’ve been using Roku and although it’s not bad, I’m tired of them not having a few major apps that I use. I used to use Chromecast and actually do like that, but I might as well get the missing piece to the Apple ecosystem now.

Apple: ”Let’s push streaming services alongside our products that require solid wireless systems”

Also Apple: “We’ve left the wireless networking market and users are on their own”

I will never understand why Apple ditched their AirPort line instead of moving into mesh systems. They could have easily updated their line or bought a company whose focus is on mesh networking and brought them in-house. Ditching a product line that so much of what you sell is dependent on especially as Cook pushes streaming services made zero sense.

Don’t get me started on the massive product fragmentation under Cook. It’s Scully era Apple all over again. Give Apple an Adderall or a new CEO and leave Cook to running the financials. Apple without Jobs has absolutely proven their is no imagination and focus and no one is reigning in departments to keep product lines under control.

'Speed' being the focus of the tagline makes me think that the consumer ARM Macs really are coming...

Edit: Well duh I just realized this is probably more for 5G on the iPhone...... But I still hope it's a double entendre and applies to their screaming fast new Mac SoCs as well. Don't want to wait until November for those to be announced.

I'm probably in the minority here but I'm looking forward to updates on HomePod, and Siri specifically. The future of computers is conversational UI. We've seen it not just on HomePod, but on Apple Watch and on AirPods, neither of which rely on a screen as the primary source of interaction — or at all. Voice is the UI.

We're still in early days here but Apple didn't hire one of the best in the business, John Giannandrea from Google, if this wasn't a big priority for them. With a new HomePod about to be announced, I think we'll see the results of his work and with it, a jump forward for Siri. 🤞🏼

I’m personally looking forward to what the studio headphones and Airtags offer. (Maybe even a HomePod mini). So much potential with these three products alone. To me it’s not just an ‘iPhone event’, Apple is so much more now versus just being about the iPhone launches. Fall is fun times around here for many reasons.

Any speculation that the AirTags will use an AR interface for location?
Holy, well you know... I don't want to get edited.

But yeah! That would be easy for them to do. Have an AR pop up of the airbags (device, Apple Watch, or whatever) at eye level in case it's buried in a couch or in a drawer.

genius.

I don't know how others feel about it, but I don't really care how big the back of an iPhone is - what interests me is the size of the screen. So how big would the screen of this iPhone 12 mini be, compared to the screen size of the iPhone SE / 2016 an the iPhone SE / 2020?

Wouldn’t regard it as a waste of money. It’s simply different wants and needs.

That’s exactly what she says all the time. 🙈

However, I don’t think I can ever do that.. I mean bag with a logo vs almost similar but cheaper, maybe lil misspelled do serve the same purpose and for the life of me can’t figure out the difference.

edit - Not actually comparing it with a knockoff, that would be just a prop from a joke, hopefully the iPhone XII should do the trick of a happy surprise.

Could be that the circles also represent the coming camera system: telephoto, wide, ultrawide and now lidar
Thats a good possibility. I see this event link attuned to the new IPhones, with AirPods ,Air Tags, Mini HomePod. All circles. All things centered around 5G, home automation, and personal audio.

This is no longer the year 2003. That ship has sailed.

Its just an announcement, big deal. You won't be holding an iPhone in your hand for 2-3 weeks. 1-2 months for a Pro model.
No problem. For me, it will be nice to know that Apple finally is bringing back the tiny iPhones. It really doesn’t matter when i will be able to buy it at this stage. Sooner or later i will buy and use it. 😊

The iMac 23/24 inch rumours are quite unsatisfactory. Is the screen same number of pixels as the current 21 inch, but with bigger pixels (something that all the elderly users would love)? Or the same number of pixels as the current 27 inch, but with smaller pixels (something that all the users who don't have perfect eyesight would hate)? Or something in between, with same pixel sizes as now?

Since the current low-end iMac has a non-retina screen, will there be a low-end iMac with A14 chip and 23 inch non-retina display - importantly at a low price? Or a retina screen with the first non-mobile chip with more cores than A14? Or two models?

ditching a product line you’ve had for years when 90% of your products depend on it is not a 2003 issue - it’s a very present one.

especially when you’re pushing new services that depend on wireless networks.
