We have no info about this (TSA).Hopefully this will come to Canada one day
That being said, how long will it take before cops, TSA, etc are aware of this and you don't
have to teach them (or argue with them over it)?
IIRC - it doesn't involve handing your phone to anyone. It's like a tap-to-share contact card.yea, don't really want to be handing my phone over to the cops....
i'll keep my physical ID
That would be an awesome idea if this could affect the voting process in a positive way (by making it easier for people). This is an excellent idea considering everyone has a cell phone and the majority are iPhone owners. Taking it a step further, if Apple was invested in getting out the vote, they would have to figure out a way to get a valid ID for those who do not have a DL or state ID. Then they would have to get around the states who require an ID to vote and would be tripping over themselves trying to ban this type of identification.
I believe Apple has the means, the will, and the ingenuity to succeed with this. I mean who would have thought one day you would be able to take a valid EKG or detect a valid fall on your wrist resulting in a life saving 911 call? Apple thought, that's who.
Which means it will take a really long time for this to be commonplace as this means everyone that needs to check an ID have to have the reader hardware. Who’s selling that and for how much? I don’t think small businesses would adopt this as it’s much cheaper to just check your physical ID by an employee. Imo it has to become a mandate before this can be commonplace. From the Press Release:
- Driver’s licenses and state IDs in Wallet are only presented digitally through encrypted communication directly between the device and the identity reader, so users do not need to unlock, show, or hand over their device.
You had hands on first with Colonel Sanders and Billy Ray Cyrus so can't be all that achy breaky bad in the southern fried chicken state.Add Kentucky to the WTF factor. We never get anything here, especially something in the forefront of technology.
(Metro) Atlanta is, but most of the state is definitely not. It's not like Atlanta isn't a pretty big tech hub or anything...

I already can pay my ticket with Apple Pay. Go to the court and their terminals accept Apple Pay.The PolicePad could read your license and will also let you pay off the ticket with Apple Pay. (That’s intended as a joke but would likely be a real future scenario)![]()
Yeah, the vaccine ID is for locals only, it works with the state-approved DMV app which replaces the physical driver’s license and vaccination card. You can pay fines, schedule DMV appointments, transfer the title of your car and a few other things. When we went to Puerto Rico last month, we filled out info online and was emailed a QR code that they scanned and we were on our way.
Church and God approved.Sees headline: Please be Georgia, please be Georgia, no way it'll be Georgia.
Reads article: Holy $h1t!!
Already done, just scan in the native notes app. Works great.
Registration can stay in the car, along with proof of insurance (or use your insurance company’s app). Medical cards depends on your provider but some have a digital card as well. Buyers club cards can either be digitized or tied to a phone number that you’d enter on the PIN pad.If I was staying in the Apple ecosystem I'd have jumped on this in a heartbeat, just as I did Apple Pay. No, it wouldn't have obviated the need for me to still carry my physical DL. Even if it had: I'd still have needed my physical wallet for a bunch of Other Stuff. (Registrations, proof-of-insurance, various medical cards, buyer's club cards, etc.) But I'd have regarded it a step in the right direction.
Sure, but, as I noted: If I was staying in the Apple ecosystem. I'm not.Registration can stay in the car, along with proof of insurance (or use your insurance company’s app). Medical cards depends on your provider but some have a digital card as well. Buyers club cards can either be digitized or tied to a phone number that you’d enter on the PIN pad.
Wow good thing that’s still possibleToo much info being put into my iphone
I’d rather keep it in my wallet
Me too.
I see a lot of people posting on the forum talking about how they never carry a wallet or ID on them, and until recently, this just wouldn't work for me.
Now, maybe, but even if I used it, I would still carry a physical ID and CC.
It is a nice idea, but I will be a very late adopter.
