I’m surprised CO doesn’t support this yet. They have their own app which allows you to have a digital version of your drivers license that ALL businesses and bars are required to accept in the state.
You might want to research how this works before typing. You don‘t hand over your device.Yup - if you're comfortable handing your unlocked phone to a cop who then takes it out of your control, then you do you.
Me, I'll stay with physical ID.
Interesting...ok, that's helpful.From the Press Release:
- Driver’s licenses and state IDs in Wallet are only presented digitally through encrypted communication directly between the device and the identity reader, so users do not need to unlock, show, or hand over their device.

There is often a difference between what marketing says and what the experience in the field is, agreed.Nice in a press release theory...this is how it will probably work:
Sorry my hand held reader is down so need to take your phone to my police car. Oh not going to hand it over? Please step out the car.....
Who says it's unlocked? It could be a feature from the lock screen, and once selected, FaceID/Code unlocks only this specific feature.Yup - if you're comfortable handing your unlocked phone to a cop who then takes it out of your control, then you do you.

When I see the feature deployed and am satisfied the execution addresses all of my concerns, then I may consider it.Who says it's unlocked? It could be a feature from the lock screen, and once selected, FaceID/Code unlocks only this specific feature.
I know. I had my fingers crossed for IL, but I knew it was a long shot.Cool, can’t wait for this to come to Illinois approximately 3 years after Jesse Whitediesis finally replaced as Secretary of State.
I take it you're not from AZ.AZ, surprising, they're not one for innovation. looking forward to this everywhere. would be nice with passports too, but well see how it plays out
hopefully it won't be limited to just TSA and can go completely digital. the magnetic wallet is nice but limiting
I’m shocked, stunned, that Georgia will be one of the first to support this.
read the article, you won't need to.."Users do not need to unlock, show, or hand over their device to a TSA security officer to present their ID, the company added."yea, don't really want to be handing my phone over to the cops....
i'll keep my physical ID
I like the idea, but with Apple, it always boils down to the execution of the feature.
Last time I flew, a couple years ago, the TSA agent had me place my phone screen close to the scanner and she never touched my phone.Last time I flew, I had to give the TSA agent my phone anyway so they could barcode-style scan my boarding pass displaying in Wallet. Has that changed?
It would be cool if you can Airdrop your ID card to cop’s screen, provided they have a large display or a tablet, so you don’t have to hand out your cell phone.yea, don't really want to be handing my phone over to the cops....

That may be for TSA but what about police? I can tell you now not all depts are going to have the equipment for it.read the article, you won't need to.."Users do not need to unlock, show, or hand over their device to a TSA security officer to present their ID, the company added."
