I'm actually pretty jazzed about messages and keyboard enhancements.

Everything I saw here is simple quality of life improvements. In many ways, yes, it's "catch up", but I'm ok with that. In tired of the "whoever did this first" is the winner garbage. If it's a useful (to me) feature being added to the OS I'm all for it.

Says you! I think it was one of the most AMAZING keynotes I have ever seen in ages!

I'm somewhere in between. Nice Messages app, but wished they did something with Mail.

But look, this is a developers conference, and I suspect the disappointed are those who expected some hardware announcements.

From what I saw, it looked like a concerted effort by Apple to integrate things a bit more (continuity) and address alot of major outstanding concerns (watchOS).

iOS and macOS are pretty mature, so I didn't expect much in the way of overhauling or fixing something that ain't truly broken. In other words, no new home screen or filing system in iOS.

While Apple music looks off brand, it seems to quite clean and simple. Clutter is removed and you know where you are without having to hunt for tiny buttons or swipes.

Dear Apple,

Thank you.

From what I saw, it looks like you're moving in the right direction again. Your products are about creating a personal experience without the "technology" getting in the way. Now, please make sure everything "just works".

Thanks Again,

An Apple Fanatic

looks like ipads will need to have force touch. I'm so happy I have iphone 5, and i keep everything nicely and will not upgrade anything. My mac pro 1.1 with 10.11.4 works just fine.

No hyperbole here but Apple needs to stop trying to humanize computers. No. Just no. You're embarrassing yourself, Apple. One reason why Android is a masterpiece is that it's very sterile. No gimmicks or flash. Just straight forward features. We don't need stupid Digital Touch. Just stop it. I don't need to see sketches from my friend and family. I don't need to feel my girlfriend's stupid heartbeat. I don't "emotive" text messages. I don't need my smartphone to be "fun." What I need is all-day battery life. I need widgets that tell me the current weather.

you must have missed Google's new Allo app announced at Google I/O.... just as sticker-y and bedazzle-y as new messages ;)

Sounds like you need a Motorola Razr with the phone number to the weather channel hot line programmed in.

I think this was a solid features update today. Not sure what everyone is complaining about. If Android is so advanced, and Apple is just now catching up, then why are you here and why won't you buy an Android device and write about it on an Android website? Then there are apps like iMessage that blow away the competition. And it all works seamlessly with our Macs. Can Android do that, even with Chromebook or Windows? The way everything works together so simply with beautiful design is why I'm a customer. I just wish they had talked more about iCloud improvements. I'm disappointed there is no longer a 500GB option, as I don't need 1TB but am getting close to my 200GB limit. But I might buy the 1TB option to use the new feature that frees up space on my Mac.

I think one of my favorite new features is one of the most simple: Raise to wake. It drives me crazy when my iPhone 6s unlocks so quickly that I miss my notifications. Even after all this time I don't remember to use the side button and end up missing them. This subverts that by showing them before I even press my finger down when I pick it up. This could also be a move towards removing more buttons on the iPhone in future redesigns. Although there still need to be some hardware buttons for certain things like resetting the device, but I think Apple could accomplish that in other ways (think a pin you could push at the back of the lightning port to reset an unresponsive device, or perhaps 3D Touching hard on two ends of the display, etc).

I found something they didn't show...

Removing stock icons!

https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204221

interesting. I get why they wouldn't show it, since it encourages not using their apps

But the "caveat" at the bottom of the page is hilarious. you can now remove those default Apps, but you cannot replace them with apps of your choice.

So, you can remove Apple Music if you don't use it. But, pressing the play button on your iOS device will still only be able to launch Apple music. so if you've removed apple music, it can't launch anything. And you cannot assign a new default.

or maps. you can remove maps, but you can't tell it to use Google maps as default.

Fonts and design styles from Beats Music heavily influences the look of Apple Music.

If Apple was going to spend the billions, it's time to leverage to the good elements from the acquisition.

Messages update was ok. Shame most of my contacts on my phone have moved on to android.

I thought Siri would get a significant upgrade.... It sucks so much right now, quite disappointed Apple didn't announce something big.

Lastly, I really don't like hearing Tim talk about how awesome and perfect everything is at Apple. Especially when they are on catch up mode.

I'd say this has the potential to be big:

But I definitely hope it gets better. For me, it just needs to be better on recognizing what I am saying (you know, the basics ;) )
