I was ready to dismiss this right away but it really looks like we might have some interesting new toys to play with with this update. iPadOS seems to be an interesting approach that they acknowledge that the windowed apps make more sense but they are introducing it in a way that preserves the tablet only use case too. This was something windows 8 tried and failed to do and here apple tries it again years later, only coming from the other direction.

At this point, I don’t think it really matters what Apple does, people have already made up their minds that the company has lost its way. Confirmation bias will continue to shape perceptions, so nothing Apple does is likely to change that.

To be fair, Apple partly set itself up for this. During the late ’90s and 2000s, the company was on an incredible streak, seemingly unstoppable. But that era was unique, a time when the tech landscape was ripe for groundbreaking innovation. No company can sustain that pace forever, yet Apple was so far ahead then that people still expect the same level of disruption today and that’s just not realistic.
This issue now is that they're not just going stagnate, they are actively moving backwards.

I'll reserve complete judgement for now, but I'm not a fan. You can't look at any of that and call it tasteful. I wish they'd gone a completely different way and introduced something new and innovative that was genuinely a game changer. I really am not looking forward to staring at this on my screen(s) for the next ten years...

take away AI and there's not much left in these new features...

also, why is Apple Intelligence all or nothing? I'd like to have access to some features but without switching AI on completely.

One of the first things I do is Settings => Display => Reduce Transparency.

I really don't know why UI designers think having background image bleed through to the foreground window is awesome. If there's text on the screen, this only serves to make it less readable.

anthing about airpods getting live tranlsation?
I encourage you to take classes and meet new friends as learning a second of third language is a great joy.

As for the new "glass" UI, I'm having Windows Vista flashbacks. I won't be using that at all if I can help it.
The only reason I might upgrade on my ancient iPhone 11 is if continuity is available on Mac, and I doubt it will be.

We’ve had this theme on our winterboard through Cydia since redsn0w 0.9.15b3 🥱
Curious when Apple will actually start to refine their software and actually deliver on their promises. Tim Crook needs to go. Not everything should be about money, especially since it printed out of thin air and backed by nothing.

I really hope they don't do the passive-aggressive thing they've done with some over-baked UI aspects in the past where if you turn them off in Accessibility, you get this big, ugly, Fisher-Price version that offends your aesthetic sensibilities so deeply, you grudgingly turn the dumb effect back on.

Looks fine, guessing we’ve got OSX 10.0 baggy pants vibes this round to keep the retro kids happy. Will consult my 11 year old - she’s the bellwether for styles in our home!

I was really expecting something nice re transformative and not so iterative? Hard to see this as anything but a lateral move. I'm sure we will all get used to it though, have no choice 🤔
