Apple Announces iOS 8 with Touch ID for Apps, QuickType, Third-Party Keyboards and More

Now if they would only bring iMessage to Windows. It sucks when you need to work in Windows and lose that functionality.

Interesting to note that once again Apple isn't ready to release anything until sometime this Fall. Steve Jobs ALWAYS had something to release to the public the very same day as his conferences.
They didn't announce iOS and release it same day or even a few days later--there has usually been a developer beta testing period of some time following an announcement.

Finally 3d party keyboards = swipe typing!

Now if only the 5.5" screen model would come true, the iPhone might become a true alternative again! :)

Can anyone find the list of 22 new dictation languages for Siri? I really want to know if Hebrew is there...

Thanks!

I love my Apple products.
I don't have an iPhone.
I can do these features on my Android phone.
Hey Galaxy or Hey Google.
Messaging interaction without leaving the app I'm in, etc.

Anyway...... Boring.....

Yet you chose to waste your time by trolling on an Apple Fan based website then. Sheesh.

To me the strong emphasis on dev tools at a dev conference is refreshing. The interesting variety of new tools and deeper access to the OS and other apps (and other platforms), makes this a "revolutionary" change. It may be a while till people who comment on these things catch up to this reality, but starting with a new development environment and 4000 new API's, there certainly seems to be considerable depth in these new releases from Apple.

This release also brings practical reality to this whole theoretical cloud thing.

That's it? Underwhelmed.

Really? Underwhelmed? IMHO, this was one of the best Apple Keynotes in a long while. EXTENSIONS alone is a HUGE thing for iOS. Handoff for Yosemite is AMAZING.

I'm still blown away by this Keynote. Absolutely phenomenal!

Love the idea of Extensions. But now, please allow users to have notifications be the default screen on unlock. 90% of the time, the information I am going to my phone for can be had from there and more so with extensions.

Strange, iTunes tells me I can't upgrade my iPhone to iOS8.

I'm a registered dev, and I know I have an iPhone 5 A1428, downloaded the right build, cleared just over 5 GB on my iPhone and it won't let me.

While I understand that iOS 8 is more about opening the garden of the OS and pushing its capabilities to another level, I am underwhelmed by the fact that nothing has been said regarding Maps. I hope I'll discover features they haven't talked about.

Did anyone get a screenshot of the slide they do every year with all the other features of OS8 (usually in small grey text)? Doesnt this usually give some other stuff away, possibly about the hardware too?

Just me, or does the device used for framing the demo on the big screen not look like an iPhone 5? Seems larger. iPhone 6?

This is normal for them. Even of the fandroids changed wikipedia page about the Samsung and Apple lawsuit, luckily it got fixed quickly. Also they love make fun of Apple fans for being ''fan'' (Oh the irony!)
