Those of you looking for hardware announcements here... no go. This is the WWDC... a software event. Hardware is in the fall.

Honestly, I saw some cool things coming. Good to see Apple work on performance and great to see them make Swift open source.

This all seems to set things up nicely for the Fall hardware push.... then I'll be looking for a new Apple TV!

This is clearly an under-the-hood update. I suspect iOS 9 will be smooth as butter and get Apple's reputation back online. Apple needed to refine the OS for stability, speed, security, and user experience. I believe this iOS update will be widely praised across the tech industry.

It doesn't have many presents...but Apple needed to focus on overall user experience and fluidity...I believe that is what they are accomplishing this year.

  • Original iPad Air from just 1 year ago already doesn't support multitasking?
  • iPhone 4S supports iOS 9: will it be faster than iOS 8? I find that hard to believe, but then what's the point?

Stability and optimization were indeed rumored a few months back to be the focus of iOS 9. No doubt they are needed and will be welcome changes.

I have been patiently waiting for Apple to include cursor control without leaving my iPhone keyboard, and now they are just teasing me by making it available on iPads only... such cruelty!!

Ram...Air 2 has 2GB.

The new iPhones this fall will have 2GB...so expect it then.

Depending on what they do with that so called bigger 12" iPad Pro I may sell my Air 2 and get the bigger Pro instead. I think the multitasking feature is a big feature tho, especially to people like myself who write documents and use the Internet, or want to watch YouTube while using the Internet.

I love how users in this Forum were crying for Apple to focus on performance and stability for iOS 9 and not add any new features and all I see are a bunch of spoiled little brats crying about how the NEW handful of features added in iOS 9 are "going to my trash folder", "should have been added in a .1 release".

Like the Siri improvements, finally transit direct on Maps, but iOs still died for me with the release of iOs 7. I just find it clunky to navigate. Two tabs for today view and notifications is cumbersome, things feel out of place, sometimes unnecessary. Losing Forstall hurt iOs big time. Also can you copy one really useful Android feature and put the back arrow on the bottom of the screen? So beneficial with how large phones are these days. That double tap to bring the screen down is a joke and a clumsy waste of time. Apple needs to focus on making ios more efficient to navigate to be world class again. Oh and let me delete the Apple apps that I never use and let me set different notifications sounds and vibrations for 3rd party apps.

For me at least, this was the most uneventful key note that i have experienced. Pretty much brings no excitement at all. Too many other free music services to choose from, we always get the IOS and OSX enhancements, blah blah.
Agreed. Most underwhelming keynote I've ever seen Apple put on. Really uninspiring.

If that's all you see you aren't looking very hard.

iBeacons maybe????...... Or through home kit. Apple breezed over that today

Probably not what room, but knows you're home. When you connect to bluetooth in your car, or start driving, it will know you're in your car. Know when you're at work, or at a business. So, it may not know you're in your living room, but it will know something about you. iBeacons in stores and this sort of tech, may allow retailers someday to offer special offers for products that are in the part of the store you're in. That would be cool (the assumption is it's opt-in).

Where all the freedom loving, privacy advocates who complained about google going through your email now?

I'm mentioning "handful" because there are tons of new features but of course people have to bitch and complain about new features being added on TOP of performance and battery improvements.

Has Apple lost its mojo?

Ohh.. And where was the AppleTV with an app store... Still missing

Gonna pull an I Told You So here;

I believe a couple weeks ago I posted on these very forums that WWDC was for developers so there wouldn't be any hardware unveiled. That's exactly what we saw. Lots of software, iOS, OS-X, Swift, WatchOS things. A few services like AppleMusic that are essentially software. But no hardware. Hardware announcements have historically been the exception.
