Neither iOS 9 nor El Capitan will be "good" until we can see a faster install. If either of these products are Mavericks bad, we will have a problem.

I love how users in this Forum were crying for Apple to focus on performance and stability for iOS 9 and not add any new features and all I see are a bunch of spoiled little brats crying about how the NEW handful of features added in iOS 9 are "going to my trash folder", "should have been added in a .1 release".
Sadly most of these people will never be happy. They can add every feature imaginable and they will still complain that it's not good enough.

It's clear Apple was way too busy working out the bugs and updates for iOS 8.0-8.4 for the past 8 months to have any real time for developing iOS 9, but had to release something.

It's likely that most of the updates are under the hood, not interesting in a presentation but a big deal when in use. That stuff takes time too, you know.

this is a weird transformative period for apple. the fruits of their labor won't fully be appreciated until all their new [x,y,z] kits and 'new feature' adoption goals are met, i.e. apple pay and apple music. i think they've been doing it right til now, but you can't really see the forrest for the trees. my two cents anyway.

they prize their ecosystem, and those who fully embrace it will be the ones to see what the fuss is all about. the rest will probably just have to wait a few years once public opinion is more focused on the whole pie to form a personal opinion - as it so often goes. the slices don't add up yet, i'll admit that.

Comments:

* Wireless AirPlay is a great idea. Will the screen disable when connected? Can existing CarPlay install upgrade? Any change in SDK policy?

* WatchKit 2, the real Watch SDK with the needed security in iOS 9. The "time browsing" from the crown redminds me a lot of the Pebble Time browsing interface. What graphic API are there? Can you at least do Quartz transforms?

* Split screen, yet one more view to code for your apps? You stuck in storyboards or can you do split screen with old school XIBs when you do custom view transitions?

Seems everyone missed the efficiency aspects - an hour extra battery life and 3 hours in power save mode.

So I gather that all the haters here won't be updating to this so called "non eventful update"...

I for one am stoked about many of the new features - and the fact that the public beta will start next month!!!

Probably not what room, but knows you're home. When you connect to bluetooth in your car, or start driving, it will know you're in your car. Know when you're at work, or at a business. So, it may not know you're in your living room, but it will know something about you. iBeacons in stores and this sort of tech, may allow retailers someday to offer special offers for products that are in the part of the store you're in. That would be cool (the assumption is it's opt-in).
A one word summary: lackluster.

Wasn't Apple rumored to be working on indoor mapping?

They had me at Apple on TFL in London - this alone makes this a great keynote - not to forget that now they'll hopefully bring all those supermarket loyalty cards to the wallet as well.

Actually, I'm very happy with what I saw today. Improvements that should matter to many developers. A few new features for OSX and iOS, but it appears they're working more on refining what they have. The metal support is great for performance and making Swift open source will attract many more developers and strengthen the platform.

Overall, I think what they announced today will set the stage nicely for some new products like the iPad Pro and a new Apple TV in the fall.

The only bad comment I have about the keynote was the introduction of Apple Radio was very sloppy. Johnny Ivine is not a good presenter at all. He looked very awkward trying to keep on a script.

That's because they are too busy complaining about the NEW features they DIDN'T want.

Gonna pull an I Told You So here;

I believe a couple weeks ago I posted on these very forums that WWDC was for developers so there wouldn't be any hardware unveiled. That's exactly what we saw. Lots of software, iOS, OS-X, Swift, WatchOS things. A few services like AppleMusic that are essentially software. But no hardware. Hardware announcements have historically been the exception.

Sure, but it was the right place to announce the new AppleTV and a SDK, with a release date later this year

This is like congratulating yourself for waking up this morning. You don't get to "pull an I Told You So" when we all knew there would be NO hardware at WWDC. There hasn't been in some time.

I liked what I saw with iOS 9. Not sure what people were expecting. A few new enhancements, but a lot of work under the cover which is what I was expecting. Was hoping for a new Apple TV but I guess that will have to wait. I plan on installing the previews tonight.
