Superlatives seldom make good names.

The Pro Max was dismissed many times on here as fake news, but it seems Apple are going with it - goodness knows what their ‘naming-pipeline’ looks like over the next few years....
iPhone 12 pro max
iPhone 13 pro max
iPhone 14 pro max
iPhone 15 pro max
iPhone 16 pro max
...
iPhone 99 pro max

Apple are probably betting that the GBP will fall after Brexit and adjusting the price accordingly.

Well maybe but the Max is £100 and not £150 more. So I don’t think that’s it, they seem to have manipulated pricing across Europe so the Pro costs more, the 11 costs slightly less, all the find the US prices and so increase sales in the US, because they are floundering.

All they will do is force most people to look at the new 11 or Android. I think unless you are a huge Apple fan or have the money to burn, you need to re-evaluate your life choices if you spend 1149 pounds on a phone with 64GB storage!

Seems to me the Pro nomenclature is nothing more than Apple trying to clean up the line up names from the hellish XR and XS. With the XR replacement being called iPhone 11 and being priced $50 cheaper Apple is saying THIS is the THE iPhone to get for most people. And the Pro phones are like the iPad Pro. Sucks that they don’t have USB-C though.

Just curious, what were u expecting? what is so underwhelming? I personally think it looks awesome. Love the midnight green, love the 4hrs additional battery life, and hopefully the camera is that much better. I honestly don’t get what people expect it to be. It’s a beautiful phone that does just about everything.
Just about everything their current device already does. I’m sure it’s a great phone but if you expect people to upgrade from last years model, you’ll need a hell of a lot more.

well i have almost always upgrade.. i think I have literally skipped one cycle since the first iPhone.. but i'm skipping this... yes i love taking pictures... and they will look great Im sure... but no enough. Also agree with whoever said that the camera design is hideous looking and Steve is rolling over! :)

I found myself feeling a little melancholy today after the keynote.

This was a risk free, unexciting event. I knew the XS models would be just a reiteration of the X, but this year I was hoping for something new, a better form factor, something exciting. When the presenters focus on photography for all the models, not even showing the front of the Pro, it was a nothing update. And now the camera bump is a double bump.

The whole presentation lacked charisma.

  • 4 hours more battery life
  • 30% more screen brightness and double the contrast with HDR10
  • quadruple the field of view in videos and photos
  • dual camera videos
  • 50% larger video sensor
  • Can practically take photos in the dark
  • 30% faster FaceID that works at more angles and larger distances
  • 20% faster CPU and GPU
  • Dolby Atmos
Yeah pretty insignificant upgrade.

Yeah everything what competitors have long time ago. 4 hrs of promises in unrealistic scenario divide by two.
Photos taken by professional photographers and edited in Photoshop (possibly made using Hasselblad).
Videos taken by professional cinematic operators (they even use an old Lumia with the same result if you have got talent and good eye). I guess what is next? 5 lens camera, 10 lens camera? Who cares about 7nm+ process when frame bezels in iPhone 11are wider than Irish Sea like in the cheap $99 banana Nokia phone?

Underwhelming if you have XS or X
Other then camera will not notice any difference with normal usage.

Recessed? What?

Due to the frosted and clear glass contrast it appeared recessed. But it’s not. It seems the inside of the glass is cut so that the portion where the cameras are is thinner, and then the camera lenses protrude a bit more than the glass, but there is no square camera bump. The back glass appears to be level, and only the round lenses stick out a bit more.

I could be mistaken but that’s how it looks from the photos.

I have a 64GB XR and I'm not even using half the storage. So not everyone needs to have such a massive amount of storage.
Well obviously you dont record videos much in 4k. Apple spent have their presentation on the camera and video capabilities. So I would think they know many of their customers record videos.

Not everyone needs it. But it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it, dont you agree?

Apple’s website is telling me I can get an 11 Pro for $649 with XS trade in. Not bad.

Did you not get the memo that most people keep their phones for 3-4 years now?

Not shocking this IS NOT for people who own a XS.

How many more years will this take to sink through to people??
