Not very impressed by the new iPhones. Best thing was probably the price reduction of the new iPhone 11.

Hoping we'll see the rumored 5.4" OLED-model next year. :)

I totally get your take on this and I do kind of agree, although I don't necessarily see the focus on cameras as a problem. The way I see it is the camera is really the only thing they can innovate in the iPhone these days. I probably lack vision, but until someone invents a much better battery the phones are capped out.
That is exactly what I am saying and hence since I don't really care about the camera, there is no real reason for me to upgrade.

What would have made you happy I wonder.
How about something new and worth the price they're asking for? Too much to ask?

I don’t even understand this. Is it meant to be funny?
It's really funny.

I think after Xmas the tarrifts kick in I'm not sure if apple is going to pick up the tab on that
I kind of like the lens design. It reminds me of a lens turret

For those unimpressed with the improvements - what reasonable improvements would have did it for you? I am not talking about design as Apple has a 3 year cycle on design and always has, more so features or improvements that you would like to see. For me, I can really only think of one - ProMotion. I am curious to what made everyone's expectations so high this year, when Apple has been doing incremental updates for 12 years.

Should have giving it a 128GB for starters especially with the camera specs but greed prevails for $150 more they'll give you 256GB

Yeah but they could have leaked that as an excuse. Samsung was able to do it.
There's doing it and then there's doing it well. Apple has high standards. Samsung hasn't had the best track record, note 7, fold, etc.
Of course it may not be true at all and it was always planned for next year. It's all speculation.

Well I'd say it's worth the price. What's the alternative really? Saving money by protesting high prices?

If you want the latest, you just have to pay the price, or buy a used or refurbished unit. Do you value your time? What is the savings really?

We all can choose and do as we wish, of course.

Overall -- I like the look of the "11 Pro Max". I'm curious about whether the GPS hardware is better than the GPS hardware in the 7 Plus. Is the software that drives the GPS chip better as well -- in the sense that it can accurately pin down where I am and how to get from point A to point B with great accuracy? I guess one thing I'm wondering about is whether the iPhone 11 can entirely replace the functionality of a Garmin brand GPS device.

I agree with that, 128GB should be the standard on the Pro.

Sorry to say this, but the “presenters” of each product besides Phil, are kind of dull and drab. They don’t really create the excitement around the products/features they are introducing. Painful to watch most of this.
I couldn't agree more. Besides Phil's part this looked like a MS presentation.....

Exactly on your last sentence - the alternative is to not purchase the phone or any other overly-priced Apple product until they lower the prices and get rid of the bugs/flaws that have plagued them the last few years (especially laptops). Stop doing things like charging $1000 for a Mac Pro stand. I'd proffer that Apple is offering the cheaper XR/11 iPhone models as an answer to slacking sales of the XS/Pro/Plus, etc. high priced phones. Apple has taken advantage of what they see as a captive consumer base - folks who will only buy Apple no matter what they produce and how much they charge. They have taken their customers for granted. People need to take rational stock as to why they continue to buy Apple products these days. This is a different Apple than the company of decades past, and there are other high quality products out there worthy of consideration. Apple prices are gauged upon what their bean counters think customers will absorb and continue to buy - it's all about the bottom line vs. profit to be made. Apple got to where it is in the tech market by offering a better product for the money than their competitors. That's how Steve Jobs both started the company and resurrected it 17 or so years later. Make the bean counters worry and pricing and quality will improve. Just my guess, of course ...

Well stated. There are a number of intelligent customers out there who echo these thoughts but there appears to be a larger number of less savvy consumers at the moment. The tide is turning and perhaps the coming economic recession will hasten it.

The way I see it, Apple has always charged higher prices.

Many customers have been complaining about - but continue to purchase their products.

I'm going to assume that they cant all be non-savvy or non-intelligent, they sell millions of devices each quarter (sure the numbers fluctuate, but it's big numbers)... they must find value or like Apple devices. In otherwords, different strokes for different folks.

Recession? Coming when? In the next 2 years? Not too likely :) but keep wishing for a recession eventually you’ll get one.

Consumer confidence is up gdp is a bit stagnant 2% with a goal of 3%, but that’s fine - that’s growth not recession.

Go to the Porsche forums - you “smart customers” do not exist there! Just imagine if there was a dozen or more “smart customers” in Rennlist posting about the Porsche 992 release and how they’re going to pass on it because it’s too expensive! :)

It isn't being a "doomer" to note that GDP growth was robust going into the 2008 crisis and can't be counted on to predict the next one. Since WW2 the average expansion has lasted 58 months (not counting our current one). We are more than twice that now so while I don't think a retraction is imminent, the good times don't roll forever.

There hasn't been one day that it hasn't been all about the bottom line, current and projected. AAPL's mission to to create wealth for its shareholders and its method for doing so is selling products and services, usually at high margins. It isn't a charity, worker-owned, nor privately held.

The most important players are the investment guys at Vanguard and Fidelity who couldn't care less about a specific design element except how it impacts their portfolios.

I agree with some of your points, but people aren’t forced to buy Apple or anything for that matter. It’s a choice. For me, spending 60/a month to have a great smartphone that does everything and more seems like a good investment. It’s my phone, text, computer, camera, video camera, music player, alarm, gaming system. We use and depend on our phones for so much. Apple DID lower the 11 to $699, and kept the Pro at the same price IN DESPITE of upcoming tariffs.

I can’t comment on the prices of the Mac computers because I’ve never owned one. But for what you get and the price, and of course financing options, for me it’s worth it.

I would like to see them up base storage up to 128 GB on the pro models. But since everything is on the “cloud” nowadays, who needs that much.

Apple is a business just like all the others. Their main focus is to make money.

Yes of course. But it's only noteworthy because it's a propaganda news item really in my view.

If you are going to panic - be FIRST to panic at least :)

Oh - and yes, it is being a "doomer" to do all that. So what if a recession hits - what's that got to do with Apple - not a lot actually. It's recession proof, it can be said.

So if anything you should pile into AAPL stock for protection against recession.

Well, often before a recession, the stock market rallies. Of course I’m always looking at such factors - it’s what I do these days.

But all these comparisons to history don’t weight heavily for my opinion. (Treasury rate inversion for example) I’m looking at the transformation that tech is causing and I think surprises are more likely than simply a repeat of history.

My portfolio is 99% aapl and has been for decades. So I care about it
