- no notch, yes, you got it right, NO NOTCH
- gorgeous super-smooth 90MHz super high resolution full screen OLED display
- 12GB of RAM
- great battery + super fast USB-C charging
- great camera
- great OS with very logical gestures and layout
- constant software updates
- and yes, 1/2 price of an iPhone
Yep no notch, but instead transparent bezels that warp all the content along the sides. I know some people like the curves but to me they're far worse than any notch.

Oh, I do know and it’s amazingly brash and frankly, a bit trashy on their part. But, hey, new phones.
Well, you say "new phones" like it's just new phones. But it not just new phones. These phones are Pro Max Super Retina XDR Deep Fusion True Tone Bionic new phones. [catches breath] Soooooo, as you can clearly see, the buzz words are absolutely essential to conveying just how new the new phones are.

I had to leave so I could hurry up and wait here in the school pickup line. I missed some Pro stuff. Like did it get Apple Pencil support?
Sadly no :( Basically all focused on the camera. Which looks awesome, but then I'm no camera pro so... :D

That green though, I just love it. So I'm tempted anyway...

EDIT: removed my comment about the X being kept in the product line at $599...it was the XR :(

Buzz words are exactly the marketing machine that Apple are; I think we may be on the same page there, eh?

That was kinda disappointing for me.....

1) Better Cameras -- cool stuff, but with the exception of "Night Mode" the photos have been great since the iPhone 7 Plus dual camera system
2) 4 or 5 hours more battery life -- awesome for some folks, but when I put my iPhone on the charger at night it has at least 35% to 55% battery left
3) More angles for Face ID -- everybody wants this, but going to have wait for reviews to find out how good in practice -- not enough to entice an upgrade (Touch ID + Face ID would tempt me)
4) Faster processor -- the iPhone is so screaming fast already and I am glad it is getting faster, but even a 6s iPhone is fast enough for most tasks today

I was hoping to see a new feature I could use in my daily life with these new iPhones. Instead it was just about taking good features I already enjoy and incrementally improving them. That's usually what happens in the "S" year upgrade, so it surprised and disappointed me.

I think last year's introduction of the XS Max was a much bigger hardware deal.

I don't think the naming/numbering of the phones matches a tick/tock schedule anymore. It is more tick/tock/tock....

iPhone 6 Plus (tick) / iPhone 6s Plus (tock) / iPhone 7 Plus (tock)

iPhone X (tick) / iPhone XS Max (tock) / iPhone 11 Pro Max (tock)

I guess I thought that this would be the year for a big hardware upgrade.

Very disappointing.

The way I see it, there were just two updates worth noting. First, the new iPad with an improved 10.2” display. Second, the improved battery life in the iPhones. And that is it. Nothing else.

The iPhone 11 still has no OLED display in late 2019, and charges $700 for it. And a large notch in all models, even in the $1,000 ones. Samsung is selling $200 phones (and lower) with gorgeous AMOLED displays and small notches.

Apple seems to be interested in making its cameras better. The camera in my iPhone X is already great; although an improvement is welcome, I do not need Apple to focus all its energies on that. I would much appreciate an OLED display in all models, a smaller notch, and much improved battery.

Nothing in the presentation made me want to upgrade any of my devices. Underwhelming to say the very least.

Nothing to see here. Hard pass.

Just curious, what were u expecting? what is so underwhelming? I personally think it looks awesome. Love the midnight green, love the 4hrs additional battery life, and hopefully the camera is that much better. I honestly don’t get what people expect it to be. It’s a beautiful phone that does just about everything.

Of course. It is MUCH worse than a notch. Try to watch a video side by side on both phones.
Yes, it's much worse... LOL
Must be something right?

Wow

Terrible name. Should've been called iPhone XI and iPhone XI Pro.
No 120hz display
No battery share feature for AirPods
Still overpriced.
Ugly design and weird colors.
Not a smaller Face ID bezel

Is anyone sick of hearing about the Camera every year. Does the average person make movies on their iPhone?:D
It's beyond the doubt the most irritating part of every iPhone announcement.

I have, and I can't deal with the glare from the curves + the whole picture feeling narrow and tubular. I'd much rather have a notch. All personal preference though.

If the OP 7 Pro was flat I'd have bought it on launch day. Currently I'm considering the Galaxy A80 which has a stunning, flat screen without notch, sadly however their rotating camera solution doesn't seem to be working too well. General daily driver woes aside though, this is the best phone for watching videos on the market, period (for anyone who doesn't like curved screens).

WHO could have seen this coming??

All jokes aside, these are some neat updates. Not enough for me to switch from my Xs, but still cool nonetheless.
