I see no reason to upgrade my 15pm for at least 3 more years. Prices keep going up with nothing new introduced.

Prices keep going up? 16 Pro and Pro Max prices are the same as last year.

In fact, the starting price of an iPhone 11 Pro (64GB) was $999 which was the same starting price as an iPhone 12 Pro which was the same starting price as an iPhone 13 Pro which was the same starting price as an iPhone 14 Pro which was the same starting price as an iPhone 15 Pro which is the same starting price as the just announced iPhone 16 Pro and each (12 to 16) have twice the storage (128GB) as the 11.

What are some reasons I should consider getting the Pro? During Pro segment in the keynote, all they talked about was film producing, cinematography, and music production. I'm none of those, so it makes me feel like the regular 16 should be fine. Why is everyone else getting Pros?
Promotion display is a significant difference imo. Probably not worth the price for that alone but it's a pretty noticeable difference between the devices.

PSA: Not everybody is trying to record a movie or music video on their iPhone.
Why has this been the baseline and main selling point for each iPhone Pro announcement since 2020?
because there is nothing left to add [except folding, pencil input]. Everything is either a iterative spec, size or finish update]

Upgrading 15 pro Max next year (or even in two years). Same sensor, same ram. Biggest upgrade is battery life…

Weird there's so many complaints when this is what was expected. Can't imagine there's going to be big changes year to year anymore except for internals and software. As for the external design, what can be done to a slab that is nearly all screen with some cameras on the back? Genuinely curious what some of you wanted?

On Apple’s site, I compared the 16 Pro to what I have (14 Pro) and the only reason I can see to upgrade is Apple Intelligence, which I don’t really care for. Am I missing something?

sooooo does the 16 Pro don’t have any issues with lens reflections of bright lights or does it only work for fancy thr weekend music videos ✨

Maybe it’s handy for planes landing but a joke for a Pro .. hopefully Apple Intelligence will be able to wipe those out at least 🤬

I want to upgrade from my 14 pro max cause the battery life is trash now :/.
Get the battery swapped in the Apple store. I got my 2.5 year 13 mini battery swapped a few days ago. It was at 84% capacity so the improvement is not amazing, but I can go the whole day on the phone now whereas I couldn't before. £85 *and* it only took about 1.5 hours. A bad battery is no reason to sack off a less than 2 year old phone.

Yep and be sure to smash straight through the unethical crap that they always try and pull about how they can’t replace it unless it’s less than 80%. That’s under AppleCare.

You can replace a 99% capacity battery if you are prepared to pay for it.

True, but the 16 Pro Max does look nice with the refinements. Also, the trade in value of the older phones drop year by year.

Wondering if iPhone 16 Pro have any virtual ultra wide options, similar to the 35 mm & 50 mm focal lengths from 48 mpx 1x.

It could be 16mm or 20mm from now-48 mpx 0.5x, I guess...

So are they reusing the main camera sensor for a third time I a row? It is not clear whether this is a new sensor or just faster readout due to an improved processor.
The 16 gets a 48MP sensor while the 15 Pro got a 48MP last year. Both of this year’s model have what they’re calling a Fusion sensor.

Edit:
I stand corrected. Thanks @Patrick P
Sorry, but this is terribly wrong. The iPhone 15 received a 48MP sensor last year. The first iPhone Pro with 48MP was generation 14.
