Has anyone noticed how half of the "new features" are not even new?!

5x : not new on pro max
ProMotion, action button, usb-c with usb 3, Apple Intelligence, Titanium : also available on 15 pro

Are they really thinking we’re that dumb???

What’s new is 120fps 4K that takes all the 128GB memory you have in 3min, filters (photographic styles), better mic (who cares) and wifi 7 (who cares?!). Better CPU (who cares) and spacial video (who th cares!?!?)

It’s the first year I am THAT disappointed. Not even a single meaningful new feature

Well, I guess my 15 Pro Max will be my final iPhone I purchase until they do some actual innovation. I will literally keep everything else in place, I love my Apple Watch Ultra, I love my MacBook, I love my iPad, but in the next couple weeks, my main device will switch over to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I will happily come back when there’s some actual innovation or new hardware, but the stagnation and “let’s throw AI at everything”, just doesn’t do it for me chief.
Exact same situation form me. Have had my Pixel 9 Pro Fold since last week and loving the experience so far. I have two lines and will keep my 15 PM but other than Apple Messages interactions and phone calls, going to be using the Pixel 9 Pro Fold for just about everything else.

What do you know ?
It’s a keynote. It should be an "here’s everything new" but there is so little they changed their mind

I know what I see. I see a broad overview of the device. Bold of you to tell Apple how they showcase their products, though. Should see if they're hiring.

It’s easy to tell that’s it’s mainly displaying what’s new, even when trivial, rather than the main specs. But since you’re the one making assumptions you should apply. Maybe you could bring back at least a tiny amount of innovation

Honestly, it'd be fun. First order of business - 120hz for the base model, Tandem OLED for the Pros. Then, actually good colors for the whole line.

Sorry for the rudeness btw - in the moment, you know?

48mp wide angle camera, 5x Telephoto camera (which is actually kinda too long tbh), 4K 120fps Prores Log recording, better battery life, new dedicated and capacitive photo button with haptic feedback, action button, Apple Intelligence... that's about it.
Of everything you listed, only the 5x telephoto is the only feature I would really want. Maybe the 48mp wide angle.

Everything else I don’t really care for, and current battery life on my almost 2 yo phone is good enough for my daily needs. Guess I’ll wait for the 17.

My wife is rocking a 12 mini and I’m on a 12 Pro Max and I still see no reason to change it up, not because I don’t think the 16 Pro is bad but because my 12 Pro Max continues to perform amazingly. These phones go longer and longer now and we just resort to keeping them as long as possible until we need to upgrade.

We did upgrade the laptop we share this year that 14 inch M3 MBP is such an amazing machine Apple did a great job with that laptop.

But yeah I’m waiting to see if we have a whole new design change like when Apple announced the iPhone X but even then we simply don’t need to upgrade yet.

I’m very disappointed this year. if the back of my 12 Pro Max wasn’t cracked I probably wouldn’t be upgrading this year. I’m considering upgrading to the 16+ and then paying it off then selling it next year to get the 17 Pro Max. The colors are so bland on the pros this year and not much has changed from last year with the exception of the size increease.

If you're that disappointed with the 16 lineup, why get a 16 at all especially if it's just for a year? Go with a new 14/15 Plus or certified refurbished 13/14 Plus, Pro or Pro Max phone instead.

Apple went boring as soon as Steve Jobs passed. Listen, I have a MacBook and an iPhone, and I will be staying with Apple for the foreseeable future, but sweet Jesus, sooo boring. At least, if rumors are to be believed, we will get a thinnest iPhone ever! next year, but where is the flip? Where is the stuff like Motorola MS 150(Korean market), and Serene by Bang and Olufsen? I had both of those and they had the wow factor nailed. They rang distinctively and looked like the future. I remember selling my Serene to some Russian dudes and taking the money and getting the first iPhone. The iPhone was the future, but now?
Would you describe a Porsche 911 as boring?

Here in the UK 3-4 years is pretty normal. You can have a shorter, more expensive one but most people stretch it to save money. The phone cost is split into equal monthly interest free payments.
Oh wow! Here for a 15pro for example, you payed 70eur for 24 months. But thats with taxes/everything.
Unlimited calls/text/20-50gb 5g data. (depending on carrier)
A normal just carrier contract with 20-30gb 5g data and calls/text for free cost 16eur per month.
Cant imagine locking my self up for 48months tbh!

This is my exact feeling. I've been toying the idea of switching over to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold or Z Fold 6 for a few months now, but waited for this event. Just a whole slew of boring, same-ol-design hardware updates and a bunch of "coming this [arbitrary season]" statements. Tired of the whole slow-burn hype cycle. I might as well trade in my iPhone 15 Pro Max now while it has some value and enjoy the other side for a while until Apple can get a little out of its comfort zone.
I just got a Pixel 9 Pro and it's pretty sweet. There are tiny things I really like that I can't get with apple...stuff that probably doesn't matter to most people. I also don't feel like I need to be on my phone all the time...it gets out of my way.

The phone colors shown during the announcement are significantly better than the ones that were leaked previously. But I still like the base iPhone 16 colors better than these iPhone 16 Pro colors. Perhaps it’s just titanium versus aluminum

I would have liked better lens coatings on the pro models, lens reflections/orbs are really bad on iPhones including my 15 pro. On mobile photo photography forums you can instantly tell which night photos were taken with a iPhone because of it. Samsung focused on it a couple of generations back and are much better.
