Just to clarify, is the iPhone 16 Pro capable of any AI features that the 15 Pro isn’t? Because if not, the only differences are a camera button (I would’ve programmed the action button to take photos by now if I wanted that), a 48MP ultrawide camera, and slimmer bezels that you won’t notice because you have a case gripping the edges of your phone.

Usually, I try to find the positive side of these updates, but there’s practically no reason to upgrade if you have a 15 Pro. However, I will get the Apple Watch 10.

I stopped watching the presentation after Airpods and apparently there was still an hour left. I read the new features and I'm like what did they spend a whole hour on? This doesn't really seem like that big of an update. I guess the biggest update is the software.

Where’s faster wired charging, and where’s brighter displays 1000nits isn’t enough with auto brightness off; and what happened to jpg-xl format

It appears that either Apple has completely abandoned its competitive spirit or has made significant missteps in its product development strategy.

Year after year, Apple fails to make meaningful efforts to compete with other smartphone manufacturers, despite charging premium prices and delivering subpar quality. The customer service provided by Apple has been consistently poor, with a rating of only 1 on a scale of 1-10. In comparison, customer service at a Walmart store at 2 a.m. is significantly better.

If Apple’s upcoming phone does not offer a substantial improvement over its current offerings, the company’s future prospects are bleak.

Yes, this announcement was boring and all the improvements were just incremental. But it’s been that way for the past several years, so it’s no surprise it’s the same this year.

And guess what, it’s going to be the same next year for the iPhone 17. Just incremental changes and boring announcement.

The iPhone mini was not a big commercial success so after a couple years, they dropped it for the iPhone Plus. And after a couple years, Apple came to the realization that the iPhone plus wasn’t a big commercial success either. So for the iPhone 17, they were replacing the iPhone Plus with the iPhone Air/Slim. All of the other iPhone 17‘s will still just get incremental improvements, and yet another boring announcement.

You go back to a Porsche from 10 years ago and notice a major difference in performance and tech. You can go back to an iPhone from 5 years ago and not notice a drop in performance or functionality unless you are a gamer. You might actually notice an upgrade if you stumble upon a phone with Force Touch.
You are right. Upgrade from 11 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max does not make any sense for me

Considering your average person uses Snapchat or other crummy quality social media native recording, a lot of the “new” camera stuff will go untapped.
Ha. Good point.
The camera is one of my most-used apps on my iPhone. I welcome any camera love they wanna extend. The new Capture Button looks like an improvement from current camera functionality. I’m in.

I wouldn’t even call this incremental, they mostly focused on the new 4k video option but how many people are going to use that? And if they do, how long will they be able to film before the phone shuts down due to overheating? I think my biggest wish for the 16’s was for Apple to focus on keeping these hot chips cool yet it looks like once again we have to wait. People won’t wait forever.

Still does not entice me to grab my wallet. Apple needs not to kid itself this is an epic flop. It’s time they correct there mistakes, in terms of colours, hardware and design with the iPhone 17 pro max!

We all know that this event needs to occur once every 3 years but every company’s objective is to pump the stock, so I am not sure why we are surprised that they spent close to 1 hour on semi-regurgitating the features with a new talk track and new wrappers.

Buy the phone / ecosystem that you can afford and you desire and don’t look outside of it for the next 5 years / until it breaks or ceases to operate normally. They will continue to release new products each year. Not all product releases are for us to feel compelled to buy.

Comparing iPhone 15 with iPhone 16 is literally weird to me. What exactly are we doing differently on a 16 that we just cannot do on 15 to survive / do business / entertain ourselves?

Do we buy a new TV or fridge each year? I’m sure the at least some next year’s fridge is smarter and cooler (no pun intended) than its previous iteration. It’s also $1200-$1500 price range. :)

I wonder if people would still think the presentation was boring if the entire thing wasn’t leaked in advance

Unless I am missing some feature that I will make my phone usage a much better experience, I am sitting this one out out again and keeping my 13PM.

And why oh why are the colors on the Pro's so basically blah?

If you're that disappointed with the 16 lineup, why get a 16 at all especially if it's just for a year? Go with a new 14/15 Plus or certified refurbished 13/14 Plus, Pro or Pro Max phone instead.
Honestly you’re right. I decided to purchase the 15+ and keep that until next year. I’ll miss the Pro features but I just can’t justify buying something that I know I’ll regret later.

Wow. If it wasn't for Apple Intelligence, they could have skipped this one. What a bore fest.

I don't get why Apple Intelligence is used to market this phone as a thing. iPhone 15 has it already in beta. So it is not iPhone 16 specific or in that sense "new".

Maybe they just silently pretend that they don't remember that 15 will have the same features on AI as 16.

Here in the UK 3-4 years is pretty normal. You can have a shorter, more expensive one but most people stretch it to save money. The phone cost is split into equal monthly interest free payments.
I've never known anyone to get a 3-4 year contract with a phone included in the UK. That is just too long, and made to price to be affordable to those who really can't afford it. 12-24 months max it is in my experience.

I found it a bit meh. Nothing that really captured my imagination or where I went like wow I really want that.

Apple is throwing with larger displays to overcome other shortcomings hoping for another bumper quarter earnings! They are succeeding every time, why not this time as well!?
